Fudge, I reincarnated as the heroine!

Chapter 20

I felt really down. There probably isn’t even a mutated demonic bear to kill off.

If I think about it, I’ve never even heard of mutated demonic beasts!

Sniff sniff.

Oh well, vacation it is!

Brook village is about 160 km away, so it will take about 40 hours if I walk continuously.

I’ll just take it easy and reduce it by 10 hours per day. I don’t want to wander around at night.

As I finally made it to the peak of the mountain or so to say approximately, I stopped to catch my breath and was stunned by the view.

I felt better seeing nature than sweaty men every day.

I decided to camp out here before it gets dark.

I made my way further into the wilderness and found an abandoned cabin in the woods.

Yes, I know, cabin in the woods = certain death.

I’m a scaredy cat, but I think it’s safer inside.

Probably...

Yeah... It doesn’t even have a roof anymore.

Sigh.

If some horror shit is going to happen to me, I’ll haunt you author.

Cough cough.

I took the sword in my hand and gripped the hilt tightly. I approached the entrance in a semi crouched position as it was never too bothersome to act a bit cautious no matter the situation.

And no, it’s not because I’m too scared to enter alone, it’s because I have a bad premonition from this seemingly harmless cabin in the woods.

The freaking roof is missing but the entrance is still pitch black!!!

As I entered the room, a big ass spider was munching on a person.

My face went blank and my body unconsciously shifted back towards the exit. My body trembled uncontrollably and I could barely hear a small sobbing sound in the far corner of the cabin.

That made me stop from running away and woke me up from my cowardice as I couldn’t bear to leave whoever made that sound.

I didn’t notice that I was holding the hilt so hard that my hand was near to getting numb.

I dashed towards the spider that still didn’t notice my presence as it was preoccupied to wrap the man in dark red web.

I held the sword above my head and slashed downwards as its head was sliced clean. Its body disintegrated due to its mana, since the body died, it can’t control the mana contained in the core. The magic crystal was a dark purple, close to being black and the size of a melon.

The head was still intact since it was apart from its body.

The carcass could be preserved by using your own mana to contain the core’s rampaging mana, but I couldn’t even care about that right now.

I resisted the urge to throw up and slowly moved towards the wrapped man.

I hesitantly took the man’s pulse and was surprised to see him still alive.

I was relieved and thought that it may be because spiders use their fangs to inject paralytic venom into their prey.

I quickly tore the silky web off and looked disgusted at the black spider head with 8 glaring eyes wide open.

I was creeped out by it. I f-ing hate spiders, abomination of all creatures.

I heard small footsteps behind me and as I turned around, I saw a little child of about 1 or 2 years old. I could see that him and the man had the same dark brown hair and purple eyes, the light falling from the rooftop reached the two and the little boy tugged at the man’s clothes.

“Is he your father?”

The kid just continued to cling on the man and I face palmed myself. How could a baby even understand me?

I decided I had to get this man to Brook village as it was the nearest destination from here. They might even be able to recognize him.

I built a stretcher from the ropes, sticks and blanket I took with me and was thankful I had enough rations and drinkable water to get us there.

I tied the stretcher to my waist and back so I could drag it.

Sorry, but I can’t carry you with my tiny body.

I took the child and strapped him to my front so I could protect him better.

If I hurry, I might make the distance in less than a day.
