Chapter Epilogue

A dead world.

A dying galaxy.

On a dead moon that had long since become nothing but a frozen rock drifting through the void, an immense and avaricious creature stared up at the stars. The frozen mountain next to it gave testament to its colossal size. It was the only source of heat on the entire planetoid, and yet still, nothing could penetrate the freezing fist that had enveloped so much of its galaxy.

As it looked out into space, one of the small number of stars above it suddenly vanished, its lightspeed shadow suddenly revealing its long ago fate. The star had been consumed millennia ago, its vanishing light only now reaching the creature’s nest. It mattered not. Soon, this galaxy would be empty, its once uncountable stars devoured one by one over the course of eons.

This galaxy was dying, but soon, the creature would be brought to a new one. One ripe with stars, and free of competition. It stared up at the increasingly vacant night sky, inhumanly patient.

Soon it would arrive.

Soon it would feed.
