Chapter From Secret Wife 150
Chapter150.
The moment Hazel realized she couldn't find the kids, she had John and his crew on standby.
Scanning the area, she noticed not only were the nannies who usually followed the children missing, but even the bodyguards with Jaxon and Joshua weren't the ones Gabriel had assigned. They were from the Campbell family's old estate instead.
Her gaze swept over the crowd gathered near the pool. Most of them were unfamiliar faces, the kind of people who floated around the edges of high society but weren't part of the real elite.
The true heirs and decision-makers were inside the banquet hall, clinking glasses and discussing potential business collaborations.
After all, those invited by Arthur were the cream of the crop.
This was way more convenient than having their secretaries schedule some formal meeting.
The first floor of the banquet hall was arranged with private seating areas, separated by antique screens embroidered with intricate designs, perfect for the powerful to converse in privacy. The commotion outside by the pool went unnoticed by the important guests inside.
The ones mocking and criticizing Hazel now were either useless rich kids or shallow, scheming women who had clawed their way into their positions, birds of a feather with Jade.
They envied Hazel's beauty, her two sons who were the future heirs of the Campbell family, and her stunningly beautiful daughter, Leila.
At that moment, Jade's face turned a mix of pale and flushed. She warned Hazel to choose her words carefully.
Hazel, after checking Leila's forehead to make sure it wasn't broken, let out a small sigh of relief.
She turned to Jade with a cold smile. "Jade, have you forgotten my warning? Don't mess with me or my kids, or you'll regret it."
This was the Campbell family estate, and Jade couldn't believe Hazel would dare cause a scene here. She sneered, "Go ahead. Try it."
Before Jade could finish, Hazel's hand moved like lightning, striking Jade's cheeks twice in quick succession.
The sound echoed in the air, followed by gasps from the crowd.
No one could believe it. Hazel, holding her daughter with one arm, had just slapped Jade twice.
And before Jade could even react, Hazel delivered two more sharp slaps, the sound ringing out clearly. Jade staggered, her face red and swollen, with clear handprints marking her cheeks.
Leila's eyes widened as she stared at the red-faced woman.
Shocked, she wiped her eyes and clung tighter to Hazel's neck.
"Wow, Mom's so cool!" Leila thought.
Jaxon and Joshua were equally shocked. Was this what Mom meant by "dealing with bad people"? Action over words?

Hazel gently patted Leila's head and stepped in front of her sons, shielding them with her presence. Her actions spoke louder than any reassurance.
Whispers broke out among the crowd.
"No wonder the Campbell family didn't want her as their daughter-in-law. She's got a violent streak."
"Doing this in front of the kids? She's no role model. If my daughter-in-law ever treated me like this, I'd make sure she learned her place."
Beauty, without the backing of a powerful family, often made women like Hazel targets for gossip and ridicule.
Among the crowd, there were not only judgmental women but also sleazy men making crude comments.
"You can't deny it though. She's gorgeous. I'd be dreaming for days if I got a night with her."
Jade's face burned, her eyes glaring daggers at Hazel.
She couldn't let this slide, not in front of so many people.
"Am I wrong, Hazel? Why don't you tell everyone who your daughter's father is?" Hazel met Jade's venomous gaze, baffled by why this woman kept provoking her. If it was because she'd sent Yusuf to prison, fine. But what about the first time? Jade thought she had her cornered, her words hitting their mark. Hearing the murmurs of the crowd, a smug sense of satisfaction washed over her.
She pressed on, "Can't say it, can you? Maybe even you don't know who her father is!"
Hazel couldn't help but wonder what she'd done to give Jade the impression that she was an easy target. Had she not hit Jade hard enough last time?
Hazel was tired of dealing with the same nuisance over and over.
It was time to end this.
With a cold, detached look, Hazel replied, "Why do you care who my daughter's father is?"
Jade shot back, "You're not some homewrecker, are you? Is that why you've never told anyone who the father is?"
"Are you talking about yourself, Mrs. Zeller?"
Hazel's words hit like a dagger.
The crowd suddenly remembered. Jade was the one who'd climbed into Andrew's bed while his wife was recovering from childbirth.
Jade's face turned crimson with rage.

Some of the people here
Jade had been married to Andrew for over twenty years, and without someone digging up the past, many
of the wives from other cities wouldn't know the details of how she'd entered the Campbell family.
She'd been using that to her advantage, trying to secure investments for her family's company.

Once Leila had calmed down, Hazel set her on the couch.
Jaxon and Joshua immediately took her hands, protective of their little sister. Hazel then turned her icy gaze to the two bodyguards who had followed them. They flinched, avoiding her eyes.
Hazel wasn't in a hurry. She'd settle this score later.
When Hazel turned back to Jade, her chilling smile sent a shiver down everyone's spine.
"What are you doing? Don't forget, this is the Campbell estate! I'm the lady of this house! You can't-"
Jade's words were cut off as Hazel grabbed her by the hair and dragged her to the pool, kicking her in. Jade flailed, coughing and choking as she tried to climb out, only for Hazel to grab her hair again and shove her back under.
"Cough... Let me... Gurgle... Go!"
Jade's eyes widened in terror as Hazel's actions left her shaken.
The moment Hazel finally let go, Jade scrambled to the middle of the pool, desperate to put distance between herself and the woman she now saw as completely unhinged.
Jade turned to the onlookers."Someone get help!
"I'm Andrew's wife! Are you all just going to stand there and let this lunatic attack me?" Meanwhile, the Andrew Jade was screaming for was currently in a car not far from the estate, busy entertaining a much younger woman.
His eyes glazed over as he finished, his body shuddering briefly.
The girl wiped her mouth and looked up at him with a sultry pout. "Honey, when are you going to dump that old hag? I want to be with you every day."
Andrew adjusted his pants and patted her head like a pet. He considered kissing her but recoiled slightly at the mess around her mouth.
"Soon, baby, soon."
He stepped out of the car and made his way toward the estate, completely clueless about the ticking time bomb waiting for him.
