Chapter 51
New Heirs in Town
Five years later:
Queen Clara and King Xavior now have four children, Nolan and Marric, twin boys three years old, and twins Emery and Harley, two years old. They have triplets on their way in a few more months and could not be happier having a house full of heirs. The children got along for the most part, and the boys were very protective over their sisters, making sure they ate and learned how to be the best princesses ever. They all loved fiercely, were happy, and could not wait to see who their new siblings would be.
Xavior and Clara had plenty of land between the royal pack and his pack, and since their packs were growing, they decided to build more homes and businesses between both packs and combine them, and all were happy with that decision. So many found mates along the way, and with that, the two had growing families, and they needed room to expand, so it was the right thing to combine both packs and build more on the open space the royals owned.
The pack was thriving and had business out on the edge of town, boarding with the humans, and they mingled perfectly well while working. The resources were endless for humans and packs as they sold goods to each other and opened many restaurants and bakeries, dress shops, etc...
Some had human mates even, and they learned of their secrets and kept them held tight to their hearts as they would never want anything wrong to happen to them or their mates. They even trained in combat with the Queen and King to ensure everyone was safe and secure.
Many different shifters and supernaturals filtered into the packs with mates seeking refuge against those that retaliated against their kind and others. They wanted to feel safe in their world and became good allies to help fight against the rogues who held no respect for others, including humans.
They were starting to build an army to attack packs making their way to the Royal Pack, which would take years to get to where they were, but they would stop at nothing to get there. Felix and his pack got wind of this happening and contacted Clara and Xavior to let them know what was in the making.
They all had set up meetings via the Internet as they wanted to avoid leaving their packs unattended in fear of an attack. Felix had settled down with his mate and had five children of his own and was a wonderful father and husband to his mate. His stepfather and his mate died in a car accident, leaving Felix to step up as the father figures to his younger siblings. He did not mind knowing that he had trained them to defend themselves against the rogues and other packs out for power.
Felix’s biological father and his mate started to travel the world for extended amounts of time in each country they visited only to return for Christmas, the birth of grandchildren, or when their pack needed help, they left again. They enjoyed traveling as they could do that much while running their pack.
Twenty years later:
Xavier’s and Clara’s children were now twenty-three, twenty, and eighteen. The twins were ready to take over the pack as kings and the girls as queens. They knew the war was brewing and had been heading their way for twenty years. Nolan and Marric had sent out scouts to check their borders to see if they could find any rogues in the area that were posing as threats. Neither of them had a mate yet, and they were OK with that for the time being since they did not want to risk losing their lives or their mates’ lives over a war.
Clara and Xavior trained them to fight and be the best queens and kings the kingdoms ever had and felt ready to take the helm and lead their species in a more extensive direction than they would leave it. They also knew that they would have to fight a battle more significant than ever, which scared them the most as they wanted to protect their children still so they could carry out their duties.
Being Royalty had its perks and downfalls simultaneously, which meant they had targets on their backs and had to be careful with them and the packs. This war brewing was putting everyone at risk; they could feel it was getting closer to time. Nolan and a few of his guards set out to help in search of rogues that are stirring up trouble when he smelled something alluring, cherries laced with vanilla. He followed that scent through the forest.
He came to an opening where several people sat and conversed by a lake. He noticed several women, children, and men sitting in groups. His stomach fell out, hoping they were not the rogues they were looking for when a pair of clear ocean-blue eyes approached him. She gasped slightly, not wanting a mate due to the war brewing and on its way, as he felt the same thing, but his parents taught their children not to reject what the goddess had fated to them.
He started striding towards her, and she to him, neither knowing if they would reject the other. When they stood nearly toe to toe and got to see just how beautiful she was with her black hair with a hint of blue to it, medium almond shape eyes that were clear ocean blue, long eyelashes, and slightly plump lips with a perfect bow shape top, she is fae, witch and wolf all rolled into one and a force to be reconned with. He could feel that coming off her. The only words they could say were ‘mate’ to each other.
“Hello, beautiful mate; what is your name?” He lightly whispered against her neck inhaling her scent.
“Rain Ashe, what is yours, handsome?”
“Nolan Stone, who are you with?”
“Family, we wanted to swim and picnic, so we came by the lake.”
“Are you aware there are rogues hunting all species to gain power and start wars?”
“Yes, we are aware and have taken precautions to protect ourselves. Why are you out here?”
“Tracking them, of course.”
“So, will you introduce me to your family?”
“Come, I will introduce you, but will you remain with us?”
“No, I am the alpha of my pack, and I am afraid you will have to return with my guards and me.”
“I see, so that will make me your Luna, huh?”
“Yes, beautiful, are you up to the task?”
“Of course I am handsome.”
They walked over to where her family was, and she introduced her mate to them. They were happy that she finally met her mate, and that was something that they no longer had to worry about. She is also twenty-three years old and has a twin sister and twin brothers that are twenty, along with a set of triplets, nothing like mimicking the royal siblings. Three of them already had mates and lived with them away from their families. One was mated to a fae, a wolf, and another witch. He needed to know who their packs were so they could create an alliance with them and make them stronger in numbers.
He followed her back to her home, where she packed most of her belongings in her truck, and they headed back to the royal pack. When they arrived, she could not believe how much bigger the pack was than hers, and the shock that he was royal. She looked at him with wide eyes, and he laughed at her. He wondered when it would dawn on her that he was of Royalty and an ordinary alpha. His mom, dad, siblings, and others met them on their front porch.
She was happy knowing that he had just as big of a family as she did, and they were all very close like she was with hers. “We need an alliance with all my siblings and their mates’ packs,” she claimed.
“Yep, we sure do, and we will get that going when we have some time to work, but first, I want to get to know you a little more.” He told her, laughing.
Introductions were made, and they walked into the dining room and had a big dinner getting to know the royal family, and she was in her element. She loved her new family and could not wait to get settled in, and Clara was excited about having a daughter-in-law in the family. Once Rain was settled in, she appeared the following afternoon along with her mate. She and Clara and her sisters went to the gardens, and all were sharing their magic tips and tricks that came to light when Nolan came running out of the house telling his mother and sisters to get into the cellar and make sure to send out another link to the packs that they were under attack.
Nolan hated that his sibling did not mind him as he wanted to save them from the attack but knew they were just as lethal as he was, along with their mother and father. He linked them, telling them to stay close and protect each other, and they went to the areas they were to cover during this attack. This is the war they were waiting for, and it came just way too fast for their liking.
The guards ensured those who could not fight were in safe houses and stood inside and outside to keep the war away from them. Clara contacted other packs around them, letting them know they were under attack and could use some backup if they could spare, and they all obliged, surrounding the rogues from the sides and behind. They did not know what was happening when the attacks came to them from the outside.
Rain, Clara, and the others that knew magic put up a force shield that protected the pack and surrounding area but attacked the rogues coming their way. Nolan ensured he kept in touch with how many lives were lost, and Marric told him there were zero lives lost and a thousand loss of the rogues. His sisters’ group was the same, and the numbers were wavering around the same: zero and rogues dead.
When it was over, five thousand rogues were dead, and the leader and his closest were caught and put in cells in chains covered with wolf’s bane. They were interrogated and then killed. The ones that were already dead were taken to a field and burned. Now that all the packs were safe, Nolan and Rain could focus on the Luna ceremony, and when Clara and Xavior were ready to take up retirement, they would hand over the crown to them as the next king and queen of all species.
“Love, now that Nolan has his mate and that ceremony is completed, when would you like to retire and let all the kids have the reins to run the packs?” Xavior asked.
“How about we set it up for three months from now?”
“I was hoping you said in two weeks.” He was laughing as she wrinkled her nose up.
“How about one month?”
“Deal, let us get the invitations out because you and I are going on a much-needed vacation, a long one.”
That said, they went to talk to Nolan and Rain about the news, and she was shocked but not so much as he. He was happy that his parents would retire the crowns to them and would enjoy their retirement. He hugged both his parents and was ecstatic that they were retiring as they deserved it. All his siblings were grown and could be on their own and find their mates to bring them back here to live.
Three of his siblings found their mates and brought them to live to help run the pack and take their parents’ place. Nolan and Rain’s coronation took place as the new king and queen, while Xanvior and Clara took their rightful spots on the council as members. They packed their bags and set sail on their much-needed vacation to Greece, Italy, and many other countries but always returned when the council was in order and grandchildren were born.
After thirty years, they fully retired as council members, and Nolan, Rain, and Marric and his mate took their parents’ place, and other members gave their seats up to their heirs. Life was blissful for the Stones,′ and Clara and Xavior had a wonderful life together when their great-grandchildren were born. Clara and Xavior lived for another fifty years when they both fell ill, passed away simultaneously, and were buried in their family’s graveyard. They were truly loved by all who knew them and would never be forgotten.
