From Princess To Queen

Chapter 42

New Day

“I cannot believe Felix did that to himself. His mother was technically on trial, not him, although it was smart of the attorneys to put him up two different times,” Dunken told Xavior.

“I was shocked, but it shows his worth and how much he hated his mother.”

“Yes, but he does not want to be alpha, so does that mean he’s finished trying to take your mate?”

“I think so, Dunken, I truly think so. But we have other worries to contend with.”

“Like what?”

“My pack, Felix’s pack, and where does that leave the rest of them, Clara’s fight with the king for the throne....”

“Let us take care of Felix’s pack first, get him in here with both of his fathers and see how we will dispense that mess.”

“I will call them in for a meeting tomorrow. We all need a free day to rest and be expected for now.

“Agree; I will find Clara and tell her what is happening. Call me with the time tomorrow?”

“Sure, see ya ’round alpha.”

They went their separate ways to do their respectful jobs. Xavior could not find Clara in their room, so he went to the training grounds, where he found her training in her Lycan. Lydia sensed his presence and just nodded at him. Clara’s train, Kingslie, was helping perfect her sparing since she may have to fight in this form when she goes up against her father in a week. The time is flying by pretty fast, and she is very nervous.

They still have to prepare for the ceremony with her and Xavior, so they thought they could do this before the coronation ceremony when she takes over the crown as queen and he as king. Plus, there is the issue of what to do with his pack since he will live there once the ceremony is completed. Her pack family and the other royalty court have accepted him as their alpha and king. He proved to everyone that he was a fair and loving alpha and would make an exceptional king alongside their soon-to-be queen.

She finished training and walked up to Xavior to hug and kiss him. He jokingly pushed her away, telling her she was stinky. She smacked him on the chest, laughing at his joke. He grabbed her bag for her, and they walked away from the field, making idle chit-chat about nothing in particular. They were happy in the here and now with no more trials and Felix just being a normal person/wolf. He was delighted that he could stay in the pack for a short time until he found a pack that would accept him more permanently.

Felix was enjoying life for a change, knowing he had no pressures being forced on him. If he had to become alpha again, he would do so but in a way that would be fruitful for the pack. He will need help doing this if he chooses to go down that road again. He knows that both of his fathers’ will be there to help him every step of the way.

“Hey, I just want to inform you that Dunken is calling Felix’s father’ in for a meeting tomorrow.”

“Why? What do you two have planned?”

“Being Felix renounced his title and pack, we need to see what the three want to do with those left. With Rayland and his mate there, it is starting to thrive once again. He wants Felix back as the alpha, but...”

“Do not know if he wants to take a break and get himself together after all that has happened in his life and the last couple of days?

“Yep, and honestly, if I were in his position, I would be the same way.”

“Yeah, I get it, I am also glad they do not want to press charges against him, but in a way, I wish they had because he was the biggest part of the killings.”

“Think about it; with what Libby had said by digging her grave, she forced him to do those things. Plus, he is messed up because of her, but his father was in his life to keep him on the straight and narrow path.”

“He tried, but she would always undo what his father did.”

“Our children will never go through what I went through growing up or Felix.”

“No, little one, we will have the cutest brats ever walking the earth.” Xavior laughed at his statement.

They decided to be lazy for the day, so they played games, watched movies in the castle theater, and ordered pizza and soda. They all had a great day of relaxation. It was time to retire to their rooms; as they walked, Xavior and Clara went straight for the bathroom to shower, then filled their bathtub with the hottest water possible and added some bubbles and calming oils. He clambered in, and she followed him next. They shrunk down far as possible, covering their bodies with only their heads poking out of the tub. They sighed in unison, relaxing when the calming scents hit their noses.

He held onto her, never wanting to leave their sharing moment. After an hour of basking in the hot bath, the water started to relax, so they exited the tub, wrapped themselves in towels, and crawled into bed as he brought her closer to his chest. He kissed her shoulder and then her head telling her how much he loved her and how proud of her to be his mate. She turned and kissed him lovingly, thanking him for being in her life when she needed him the most, then they both fell into a profound relaxing sleep.

The following day they rose from the bed and got dressed; their stomachs were growling very loudly as they both looked at each other, laughing. Xavior asked if she wanted breakfast brought up for them or to go to the dining hall, and she opted for the latter. They entered their bedroom and ran into Dunklin, Kelly, and her mate. They said their good mornings and walked to the dining room, sitting down to a fabulous breakfast with French toast, scrambled eggs, toast, biscuits, pancakes, orange juice, coffee, bacon, ham, and so much more.

They piled their plates full of everything, including a variety of fruits, along with juice and coffee. They ate their fill until it was time to head to the office, where they would meet with Felix’s father in a couple of hours. They prepared documents and notes to go over with both men.

Both men went to the office while staying in the castle as guests. They knocked on the door and were told to come in and sit at the table they had in their office. They did not use the big conference room since it was just the five. Xavior, Dunken, and Clara took their seats around the table.

“Good afternoon. Glad you could join us. Hope you are finding your accommodations to your liking?” Clara asked.

“Yes, thank you so much, Princes Clara, for having us stay here. So what can we help you with?” Louka asked

“We would like to know what you think of your son’s, Felix, renouncement yesterday after the trial.”

“I was shocked at what he had done but clearly understood where he came from. He felt responsible for what he did to all those packs he and his rogue groups attacked and killed. Any of them he kept as rogues to build his army, not to mention what he had done to his pack by killing anyone who had found their mates, killing them. So he did what he felt was right and is still beating himself up over it.” His father stated

“I agree; we just met a few weeks ago and are starting to build a relationship getting to know each other,” Louka stated.

“That is good. Now we will dress the elephant in the room, gentlemen.” Clara responded.

“My actual gamma is running Felix’s pack; I had put him there to spy on Felix and his plans. Felix killed his Beta to find his mate and made Rayland his Beta. The pack and funds have dwindled to nothing, clearly in the red. We know that Felix does not want to be alpha, or at least not right now. We need to know if your packs would be willing to absorb the remaining members of his pack?”

“I talked to my alpha about this, and he would be willing to take on some of them.”

“I will take on the rest; I know Blaze won’t mind. I will let him know what is happening when we are done.”

“That will not be necessary. We will conference him tomorrow as we will meet with you both again, along with Felix and Shelby, his mate.”

“Where is he now?”

“With her and her family getting to know each other better. He also has been training with our warriors and pack members, and it is helping him ease into normal life and let go of his aggressions of what he has done. He tells the others to beat the crap out of him as he takes it as his punishment for what has happened.”

“Well, that is not what I would have expected. Is Shelby okay with this behavior?”

“Nobody is alright with this form of punishment, but she understands and tends to him when they are done. Nobody likes doing this to him, and all feel guilty about using him as the punching bag, so to speak.”

“We will take them in our pack where I can watch him more closely. We also have trained doctors for PTSD, which I think will help him if we can get him into treatment.”

“Okay, this is settled then. Let us meet in the main conference room at noon, and we will have lunch set up. Louka, make sure we have Blaze set up with a face conference, and Felix, Shelby, and her family will be present too. You are dismissed, and enjoy your day, gentlemen.” Clara dismissed them.

Xavior calls the Alexanders and tells them they are requested to attend a meeting tomorrow at noon, along with Shelby and Felix. They agreed to be there for the meeting, but they needed to figure out what they were needed for. They could only speculate that they would be sent out of the pack for what they had done in their past. They thought about leaving, and Felix told them it would not be wise as there would be a bounty on their heads, and he would not let Shelby out of his site.

That night Rayland and his mate entered the castle, and Xavior showed them to their room. He told him what time the meeting was to take place, and they were expected to be there. They turned in for the night and needed sleep as they were no longer in the pack. Xavior did not tell them what the meeting was about, so all they could do was speculate, but he knew he would go home to his pack and resume the duties as Beta and could not wait.

The trio continued working on pack matters, signing off on papers, and looking into who needed help and where. King Matthew never had any advisors and mostly did all the work himself. He did have a beta until he was killed in a conflict many years back, but he never filled his position as he did not feel the need to do so. This was Libby’s doing as she put into his head that she would be the Beta and his queen one day and did not question anything she would say. He was under her spells, and she continued poisoning his food to keep him in a fog about his family and pack.

Matthew had turned out to be a total ass to his family and some of his pack members, but they all had known that this was not his normal behavior and would never go against him because Libby was constantly there. When Clara realized he was under some spell, she did her best to ward those off of him, which is why he is no longer king. Libby has nearly ruined Clara’s family, but she fought and is fighting to keep him alive until they can fight each other in about a week.

She went to visit her father to see how he was doing. He looked at her blankly and did not say anything to her or even acknowledge her presence in the room.

“Hello, Father.”

He looked at her and nodded. That is all she got.

“How are you feeling? Are you getting stronger? I do not know if you know this, but Libby was put on trial and outed herself telling the courts and everyone there that she poisoned and used magic on you to gain access to the crown and all the power she could have. She also told us that she used the same magic on Felix and the rogues to attack all those packs these past several years. Thank goddess that his father knew what she was and instilled good values in him when he was around.”

“Hmm, she was a good person Clara, and you know that.”

“Father, she was not good, and when Felix was around her, he was pure evil, just like she was. You know we had her arrested and put in the dungeons, stripping her of everything, including her wolf. We ensured she could never escape, then took her to the prison the council has, and Felix was just fine, his normal self. He did not know he was under her spells and was not extremely coherent in bidding for his mother’s selfish needs.”

“You need to mate with him; he, too, is good.”

“Father, he has a mate, and they work out their differences together. The packs are becoming stronger daily, and we are obtaining the rogues that still want to take over. Those guys will be irradiated very soon. Felix is helping our warriors to find them and take them out.”

“Hmmm...I do not think that he should do that, Clara.”

“Why the HELL NOT? Do you remember that we have a challenge coming up soon?”

“You are not to take over my spot. I am still the king around here.”

“Newsflash, father, I have taken over the pack, and so has Xavior, my mate. We will have our wedding ceremony and our coronation at the same time. I no longer care what you think, Father. You no longer have control over the crown.”

“I will fight you, and you do know what this means?”

“Till death, Father, but are you ready for that? I am much stronger than you realize.”

“No, Clara, you are not that strong because I would never allow you to train, and when you did start training on your own, I gave authority to the warriors and trainers to take it easy on you.”

“Why did you do all that?”

“Because I did not want you out there fighting. A princess does not fight; only men do.”

“Wrong father, I fight and am damn good at it. Anyway, Libby is killed, and Felix renounced being alpha.”

“Oh, I seriously doubt that.”

“I will see you soon on the field to battle against you for my rights. Xavior will also run the fight and give out the rules.”

With that, she turned on her heels and left the room, she knew she had pissed her father off, but she did not care; she took off to let Lydia out to run. Xavior felt her being upset and let his Lycan out to run with her. They ran for a couple of hours, finding themselves near a spring and taking a dip to cool themselves off. They curled up on the grass when they were done swimming and fell asleep, and sometime during the night, their Lycans gave back control to their human counterparts.
