Chapter 31
Always Worry
Meira left the hospital room in her usual way. She met up with Clara on the training field shortly after the visit from the hospital. Meira wanted to understand what Clara was thinking about and how she would train, although she had been preparing for this for many years. Meira knew her daughter would not fail, but could she kill her father to take over the thrown during the fight? This question had to be answered very carefully. Clara and Meira understood her dilemma without a doubt. She thought of doing it herself to regain back control, but she knew Clara was the one who had to fight her father now.
“Clara, how did your meeting go with your father?” Meira asked.
“Ummm, you should know, Mother; you were hiding in the shadows, so tell me what you saw that I did not?” Clara raised a brow.
Meira cleared her throat a little bit before answering her daughter. She thought she had disguised herself well because Matthew and his nurses did not recognize or scented her.
“You forget I am part witch, too, just like you, and you are the one who taught me how to disguise my scent and other ways how to use my magic.”
“Smarty pants, you enhancer hearing and smell is just too much, isn’t it?” Meira laughed, hugging her daughter.
“I know I have much more training to do, but my question is, did Felix come in after I left?”
“Nobody but the doctors and nurses, I hate to tell you, sweetheart, but he still had magic in him.”
“What? Impossible, that spell that Libby put on him all those years ago had left his body, and he was very lucid and remembered everything before it happened. How on earth could he still be under that bitches spell?”
“I do not know, but he is, and his Lycan is returning stronger.”
“Shit, Mom, this is going to be....how? I do not understand it. I could not sense anything when I was there.”
“What is going on in here?” Xavior asked.
“Father still has his magic, and his Lycan is returning stronger. What are we going to do? I have two weeks till I fight him and take the position over.”
“We train extra hard, and you will go back to your mother’s pack and keep learning and practicing magic, especially to get rid of the magic Matthew has in him. We have to make him as weak as possible for you to win, but remember that killing him is and will be the only option we have here.”
“Great, just fucking great; I would make him submit so I would not have to kill him. That is going to be hard for me to do and for the kingdom to handle.”
“Right now, what matters is you winning back the rightful crown of your family and what is rightfully yours as he refuses to step down and hand it to you. Killing your father is the only option, baby. I apologize for being so blunt about this, but it is the reality. This is done when taking a crown or pack over.”
“What about the council? Can they step in here and help us out?”
“No, they cannot do that, sweetheart, I am sorry, but this is the werewolf way. We must keep Felix out of the mix so he does not interfere with the fight or try to get to you.”
“Xavior, we are mated; he cannot take me for himself now; the crown is our right. I will rule with you the way I run my pack at home. Which reminds me, I will have to leave in the morning for a couple of days, but I am leaving Dunken here to help you with what you need and your training.”
Clara was not happy that her mate had to leave, but they could not just leave the seats open for the hell of it, and he could not leave me by myself due to Felix. He is still out there trying to find a way to get to me and the crown. It would be a little more complicated with Dunken still here, but we also have Max, Kelley’s mate, who will help keep Clara safe.
Xavior lets Max and Kelly know the events and that he will have them help Clara out until he gets back. Max has been a significant asset to the kingdom and a great mate for Kelley, and either would do anything to help protect Clara, even going as far as training her.
“Felix is at the gate again trying to gain access to the lands.” a guard linked to Xavior.
“Shit, I am on my way, be there in about ten minutes.”
“Xavior will be here shortly. I would suggest you get back in your vehicle and wait for him there.” stated the guard sarcastically.
“Xavior, who mind linked you?”
“A guard, Felix is here again.”
“Wonder what he wants. I am going with you; I want to see what he says. We CAN NOT, by any means, let anyone know of the fight between my father and me. I do not know who to trust in this pack or outside this room.”
“I agree. Let’s go, my little sunshine.”
They left her room, heading down to the underground garage where the king and his Beta and gamma vehicles were. Clara has a lovely car there but did not drive it much as there was no need to. She did not want to move this time either because of Felix. He would note the car she had.
“Your father has quite the collection of vehicles, doesn’t he?”
“Only a couple are his, but my name is also on the title.”
“What about those over there to the right tucked away? Whose do they belong to?”
“Me, they are my vehicles which I take out occasionally.”
“HUH? Wait, those are yours? I had no idea you loved vehicles, especially the fast ones.”
“That blue one with black stripes, that is the brand-new McLaren 765LT Spider with all the bells and whistles, that black one next to it is Ferrari Cavalcade loaded, and this one right here is a 6.2-liter, bi-turbo V-8, powers the Evantra Pura. All mine, and I love every one of them, babies.”
“I thought I had a taste, but DAMN, woman, you beat my guys and me.”
She laughed at his remark, thinking she would love to race against him in one of his vehicles. Clara stood there looking at the vehicle he was in, a Mercedes SUV top of the line. Of course, it was the opposite of the colors she chose for her cars.
“Let’s take the Elantra out for a drive. Get in.”
“What if Felix sees it? What do you think he would say?”
“Come with me. I will show you something you do not know about, nor does anybody in the pack.”
She got him in the vehicle and took off out of the garage, staying hidden underground until they came to the entrance where Felix was. She exited the car, undressed, and pulled her Lycan forward. Xavior followed suit and watched where she was heading as they ran out to the entrance. They came up out of the small cabin and changed.
She walked out to where the guard was waiting for them to arrive. Felix came to the gate growling, seeing that Xavior had the mate’s mark, and so did Clara. He was seething, knowing that he would have to challenge the “king” to take his position over.
“Felix, what do you want? Why are you here, and what is with that growling?” Clara asked in a disdainful voice.
“Why are...do you bare a mate’s mark? You know I am your mate.”
“Uh...guess you did not get that memo? We are mates, Xavior and I, and there is not a damn thing you can or will ever do about it. State your reason for being here before we banish you as a rogue!” Clara screams at him shoving her aura to him so that he would have to submit.
He did not realize how much she oozed the power of a princess or queen until she righted them. His eyes widened, and he barred his neck from showing respect to her and Xavior.
“I... hmmm...want to know where Libby is. She has not come home for over a week now, and we are just getting worried. I want to bring her back where she belongs.”
“Not happening, she is tied up for the rest of her life due to the crimes she has committed, and you, Felix, will have the same thing done to you if you do not leave now,” Xavior states.
Felix turned around, got into his jeep, and spun the tires leaving dust in his wake. They had to cover their eyes so they would not get dust in their eyes or mouths.
“Well, for one, I am glad that he saw our marks so he can stop pursuing me.”
Xavior and the guard looked at her like she had two heads while shaking theirs, trying not to laugh at the sight.
“Huh, babe, he can challenge and kill me to ensure he gets the crown.”
“He better not. I will banish him to the sea, where he can never return. I am sure the sharks and whales would love to feast on that asshole.”
They all lost it as she walked away, shifting in mid-air to her beautiful Black Lycan that held the bluish-green eyes. They were so clear you could see through to her soul. Xavior just watched her as she took off, and he had a shit-eaten grin across his face. He knew he would get to drive her precious baby back to the garage. He was all smiles heading back to where they came from, starting the engine, and taking off. The race was on now, him underground and her on top running. Who was going to beat who back in the garage or their bedroom? He was betting he would.
Xavior entered the garage pulling into the parking place. As he got out, he noticed a shadow to his left. This put him on high alert; not knowing who it was, his wolf was feeling a little on edge. He stood there, acting like he did not notice the shadow. It started to move towards a parked vehicle, but Xavior did not take his eyes off it. The closer the shadow moved, the more he and his wolf were agitated. They both knew this thing was not their mate. He started to undress so that he could shift. Returning to let his wolf take over, he stayed low to the ground looking underneath the vehicles.
“Xavior, where are you at?” Clara mind-linked him.
“Somebody’s in the garage. They are being reticent.”
“We are on our way, keep tabs on them and keep your link open.”
He kept his link opened and watched for the shadow. It started to creep towards him moving in and out between the vehicles. He could smell the scent that did not belong to the royal pack. But it was not a rogue as it did not smell rancid like they usually do. He knew it was a male because of the musky smell it had to it. He watched all sides of him so he would not be surprised. The shadow appeared before him off to the side of Clara’s vehicle.
Xavior saw something it held, which looked like a pure silver knife it had taken from his sheath. Xavior felt its presence and scooted away quietly to not alarm the shadow; he knew he was there. Xavior thought about clicking the alarm on the vehicle to scare the shadow away or enough to where they dropped the knife in their hand. He observed as the shadow turned around the corner of the vehicle he was in front of.
The shadow bumped against Clara’s vehicle, and the alarm went off, scaring the shadow to drop the knife, and that is when Xavior took the opportunity to pounce on the person. He took them down and fought them to see what or who it was. He shifted back to his human form since he had the shadow pinned to the ground. He took the hood off the shadow, and Felix was scowling back at him.
“Xavior, where are you?” Clara came running into the garage.
“Over by the Evantra Pura on the floor, I have Felix pinned down; please tell me you have cuffs?”
“We brought them just in case.”
He pulls Felix up off the floor, putting his arms behind his back. Clara and one of her guards that came with her took the silver cuffs and placed them onto Felix’s wrists. He then took him and walked him to the dungeon, where he saw his mother with her hands and feet chained, looking worse for the wear. Felix was appalled at how his mother was being treated. He would not take his eyes off his mother as he was pushed into a cell.
Libby kept her head down, refusing to look at her son. She did not moan, growl, or speak any words to acknowledge his presence. She was angry and embarrassed at the same time. She never wanted her son to see her in this state, and he never wanted to see his mother in this state. They were a team, or so he thought.
