Chapter 16 - Question after Question
Recap:
“I’m not going there! You tricked me!” She yelled as she ran and hid behind Micah, gripping his shirt.
The demon came closer. “I’ll take you and the man, too,” it hissed out, looking at Micah.
Still Haley's POV
“What? My soul is pure!” Micah yelled, panic written on his face.
“Duck, Micah. Do it now!” I yelled, using my wolf as my eyes widened.
I watched as Micah ducked down, just in time to watch as Maximus swung his sword, cutting the man’s head off without any hesitation. I could see Micah covered in blood and shaking. I knew he was wondering how I knew what was about to happen.
“Sorry, my man. He was about to knife you in the back. He got away from my cells.” He turned and looked at Griffith. “The defunct king and queen escaped, too. They had help and I’m weeding out the problems as quickly as I can. Watch your backs.” He nodded and disappeared.
The shadow demon scooped up the dead man and the she-bitch. She screamed so loud I had to cover my ears. I noticed everyone else was doing the same.
Damn werewolf hearing.
“Why do she-wolves scream as if they were being murdered. Damn, she brought this on herself. She didn’t need to make my ears bleed,” Love, my wolf, told me as I snickered.
"I know, right?"
She gave me a sly look, looking as if she was constipated. “When are we going to get with our mate? I’m so horny. Come on, Haley, get with it. We’re not getting any younger.”
I shook my head and ran to Micah, magically cleaning him up. He put his hand out, trying to stop me from getting blood on my clothes - as if it would bother me.
Yeah, right.
Micah looked down at himself, snapping his head up with a confused look on his face. Boy, did we need to have a conversation about our powers, especially since he will have the same powers.
“I’m not even going to ask how. We need to talk, don’t we?” Micah asked, looking between Kaley and I. We nodded our heads and pulled him up, hugging the shit out of him.
“Everyone dismissed. But, let this be a lesson to the ones who want to act like heathens,” Griffith commented as he turned and walked away.
“You need to use your baby brother’s to do your dirty work. You’re nothing but an asshole who thinks he’s all that,” a man voiced as he looked Griffith up and down.
“What did you say?” Griffith asked as he turned around. “Go ahead and repeat yourself, I dare you.”
“What can you do about it? You’re not a true Alpha.”
Griffith's POV
Kaley, Haley, Trace, Chase and I let out a growl, one so loud it shook the ground and trees, causing everyone to hit their knees and bare their throats.
“You had to use your brother’s and sister’s to get me to submit. What an Alpha,” the man sarcastically said to me.
Blaze and I were ready to tear this fucker up. But, we knew we couldn’t hurt him in anger, but we could growl, and growl we did. We had never growled so loud in our life. This man was testing my patience. This pack was fucked up. They thought they were privileged. They thought I owed them something. I knew they wanted to keep doing their nastiness, but I wasn’t going to have it. I was tired of this pack being disrespectful, or thinking I wouldn’t put anyone in their place. I was trained to take over the Alpha position for years. And, this ass was not going to challenge me.
The man was on his knees, but he wasn’t showing his neck. I couldn’t figure out what he was. I asked the girls if they knew, but they didn’t know either. I could smell his wolf and his vampire side, but he had another part I haven’t smelled before.
I looked at the man. “Who are you to question your Alpha. What you have said and did was a challenge. Do you want to challenge me for this pack? I will find out what your endgame is.”
The fucker laughed. He actually laughed at me. “You will never find out anything. My mind is locked tight. I’m not challenging you." He paused. "Yet.”
“Go home. You will not succeed in your plans. And, if you keep pushing me I will open a way and introduce you to your new future. I don’t rely on my brothers and sisters,” I growled, glaring at the man and waiting for him to get up.
I watched as he got up and smirked as he walked away. I knew he was going to start trouble. I just knew it. I should have killed him outright. I would need to keep my eye on him. He was right about his mind being locked tight. I couldn’t read him at all. But, I knew who could.
Asher and Ander showed up, letting me know they were reading me this whole time. “Do you need us?” Their wolves asked as they sat on the ground.
I knelt in front of them and hugged them. I loved all my siblings. But, these little monsters were my favorite. I felt closer to them. “Yeah. I have a man causing trouble within the pack, but I can’t read him at all. I don’t know what he is either. I know he’s a wolf and vampyre, but I know there’s something else there, too. Can you help me, my brothers?”
“We’re on it, Griffith,” Asher told me, a big smile on his face.
I shook my head, laughing at their devious faces. They were trying to act all innocent, but I knew better. I shook my head. “I’m not sure where he lives-”
“We know where he is. I know you have things to do. Trust us to come to you as soon as we know more.” Ander paused, looking around him. “But, you need to take care of mamma when she notices us gon…” Ander trailed off when we heard a huge boom.
“Shit! Mother fucker! Ouch! Damn it, I hurt my ass. Why can’t I get the hang of my power?” She yelled, noticing we were trying to keep our laughter in.
“Language, Mom. You have young children and they can’t fucking swear or our dads will have our hide,” I exclaimed, not realizing I cussed when I got on to her.
“You’re one to talk.” She looked around. “Okay, where’s the fucker who wants to hurt my family. I’ll kill him for going after my pup-”
“-Mom! Calm the hell down. I’m fine and I’ve got it handled.” I noticed Asher and Ander had taken off, not wanting mom to stop them on their mission to help me out. “I’ve got it handled. It’s the reason Asher and Ander were here. They wanted to help and I decided I needed their help. I won’t ever turn down help from my family.”
Asher and Ander showed back up as they sat down on the ground, almost falling. I made sure to pick them up and set them in my lap. “What’s wrong? What happened? Did he hurt you two?” I was panicked. My brother’s were strong and they were breathing heavily, as if they had to flee from something or someone.
A/N: Do you have an idea of what happened?
