Chapter Forgot To Tell You Something: Epilogue
It took Owen a month to recover from the gunshot wound, although he was up and around our condo after only a few days.
When Dr. Stevens re-entered the halls of Memorial Hospital a month later, he was no longer a single man. Good to my word, we got our marriage certificate and were married ten days after the shooting. Now, he has a petite, sarcastic edged wife, who also waddles with the grace of a hippo.
My husband is a saint.
We’ve decided to stay in Florida until after our son is born, which pleases Stefani to no end. She claims to be throwing the biggest baby shower the world has ever seen.
I’m threatening to boycott the event.
I’m kidding. Kind of.
Although it will be hard leaving our friends, we know that Asheville is the place to raise our family. Hell, we haven’t even had this baby, and Owen is already planning the next few. I told him that’s fine, so long as he carries them this time.
Regent Hospital is thrilled to have a doctor of Owen’s caliber joining their ranks; his Mom is thrilled her son is coming home.
Me? I’m ecstatic about my new family, and terrified at the idea that I have to give birth to this baby, and there is no hole large enough on my body. Owen finds the entire situation amusing, reassuring me I’ll be my kick-ass self in the delivery room.
I assure him I’ll be on drugs and have little to no memory of the event.
I’m fairly certain I’m not winning that battle either.
Life and work with Owen is now a thing of beauty. I just had to let it exist, as it was always meant to. I bask in our mutual admiration, chuckling at our co-worker’s sarcastic comments about how sickening our loved-up displays are to the rest of the world. But I know better. They’re thrilled by the turn of events.
Hell, even Charlotte sent us a wedding gift, and I’m almost positive it’s not tainted with any form of poison. Almost positive.
The one person who did not like the news? Dr. Nicole Hedges, but she found herself a new love interest in the form of Ken Jessop. I guess it all worked out.
All you need is love. A plethora of love.
And a man who can deliver over the top orgasms, but that goes without saying.
