Chapter 11 You are my life
Still clinging to his chest, he wrapped her in a towel and slowly laid down on the bed, lying next to her, and while he tucked her in like a child, he didn’t take his eyes off her.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” she asked him, feeling uneasy.
“Forgive me, Emma,” his deep voice trembled for a moment.
“Because of everything I said, did, because of the pain, I caused you, even though I had my faults, it does not justify my actions, and I want you to know that I am truly sorry. “
I regret it, and I will try my whole life, to make amends to you, to be the man you want me to be,” he finished, in a quieter tone.
“I know,” she said softly, caressing his face.
“But I don’t want you to change, and I understand your actions, because I don’t think I would ever have the strength to tell you the truth to your face, it’s better if you’ve seen it,” her eyes watered, when she looked down, but he turned, gently, towards himself.
” It’s not something you should be ashamed of, that’s passed, which will never happen again,” he assured her. “Not while I’m alive, and not after, because I intend to find Khan and kill him,” his hands clenched, around the bedspread, which she didn’t miss.
“He’s not you, he’s your brother, I don’t want to be the one to blame for his death,” she said bitterly.
“Emma, I tried, I tried, but from the beginning nothing was right should, as long as he’s alive, everyone around me is in danger, you especially,” he sighed.
“What do you mean, why me?“, she asked, confused, watching him straighten up, leaning against the head of the bed.
“When, by mistake or not, it’s already an old story, but that’s how it had to be, his mate was killed, Khan couldn’t deal with it, nor forgive my parents, that’s why he killed them, but he’s also taking revenge me because he is older and should have been the leader.
Of course, father would never have allowed it, because his condition had deteriorated to the point where he could no longer think normally.
"He ran away, teaming up with various species and witches, and I was practically a child when I took over the pack, that day..., he paused.
"When all that happened to you, we passed each other in seconds, and when I found out, it almost killed me, dammit!“, he tried to silence his anger.
“I still don’t understand why me,” she looked at him confused. ”
“When I talked to Mason, I put two and two together, and Khan knew from before, that you were my mate, with the help of a witch, he finished, seriously. Emma paled, shaking.
“What is it, Emma, everything is fine, don’t worry,” he hugged her, pulling her into his arms.
“You don’t understand,” she said, digging her head harder into his chest
“Emma, what’s going on?” he gently picked her up, making her look at him.
“My parents, real parents, not the woman you saw that night..., she paused, they’re dead, I think the same thing happened that night, I’m not sure, or before, but the reason I was there, not in my to the pack, that is, that they hid me, with an omega as an omega, not an alpha.”
“Why?“ He looked at her questioningly.
“Because the witch, who my father killed, cast a curse on me before she died, which will be carried out before my 18th birthday, and she was,” she finished quietly.
He could feel her feeling quickening, just like his, but he couldn’t let it burst now he had to think of her.
He hugged her tighter, pulling her to him and gently kissing her forehead.
“I thought it had something to do with my wolf because father said he was special, but I was wrong,” she sighed, shuddering.
“Why a wolf, what color is your she-wolf?“, he asked, ruffling her hair.
“I don’t know, I’ve never transformed, I needed that night...“ She fell silent because her voice began to crack.
“As an Alpha, you should have transformed a long time ago, regardless of being with an omega, not to mention your strength,” he chuckled, not resisting, earning her a reproachful look.
“Sorry, I think that was a curse too,” he replied calmly.
“That I wouldn’t be able to defend myself,” she sobbed. “
I’m afraid,” she said quietly, looking at him.
“I’m afraid for Hope if she finds out...” but he cut her off abruptly.
“Shhh, I don’t want to hear anything like that Emma,” he said calmly.
“You are my love, a mother, and my life, and Hope is my daughter, just as much as yours, and I will raise her that way, if you agree, of course,” he looked at her, with a touch of fear, worried about how she would answer.
“I love you, Arden,” she looked straight at him, into his bright, gray eyes.
“I love you more my Emma,” he whispered, kissing her passionately.
A sudden child’s laughter interrupted them in outbursts of tenderness, and Emma almost fainted, seeing barefoot Hope, standing in the doorway with her favorite stuffed animal, quickly wrapping herself in a nightgown.
At the same time, Arden with a smile managed quickly.
“Hey pumpkin, jump in with us, you’re going to freeze,” he tapped the bed as she quickly came over, slipping between the two of them.
Emma gently hugged her, kissing her, while Arden looked at his girls with pride.
“Uncle Arden?“, Hope raised her head, looking at him with her big gray eyes.
“Yes, sweetie”, he replied, smiling, but Emma didn’t miss the nervousness in his voice.
“Does that mean now, when you and mom are sleeping together in the room, that you are my dad?“ She asked him, in a calm voice.
He cleared his throat, looking first at Emma and then at Hope.
“I would be honored to be your dad, if mom agrees, of course,” he replied, as calmly as he could, while the little girl looked impatiently at her mother.
“Of course I agree,” Emma said softly, smiling.
“Thank you mom, I love you so much,” Hope hugged her tightly, and Arden felt a heavy stone drop from his heart.
“Can I call you dad now?“ She turned to him, still not letting go of the teddy.
“I’d like that,” he nodded as he said, and Hope threw herself into his arms, wrapping her arms around his neck.
“Love you too, dad," she whispered, resting her head on his shoulder.
“I love you, my pumpkin”, he uttered, hugging her, afraid that he would not hold her too tight, he was so happy at that moment, looking at Emma, his shining eyes.
“Thank you,” he said quietly.
“You’re welcome,” she answered him, with teary eyes, but this time, from happiness.
