FOREVER KNIGHTS: #15 Insatiable Beasts

Chapter Leaving The Stronghold

Alazar had retrieved her and now they swung by the library to announce. “It’s time we return.”

Bast stood from his chair to join them.

Rhyers waved from the other chair across the from the fire.

Bast took her free hand in his larger one. “My Lady. I pray you won’t soon forget us. And soon return for a visit.” He lowered his lips to the back of her hand, and she shivered.

Wincing as she withdrew her hand.

But the casual flick of his blue-green eyes indicated he’d sensed it. “It’s fine.” He whispered. “There’s little distinction between us.”

She was staring into his penetrating gaze hypnotically. Awestruck by his great beauty and unable to look away.

They always are.

Alazar pulled her hand from his twin’s grasp, snarling under his breath. “Brother. best leave my wife from your advances…for you’re beginning to invoke my ire.”

Sebastian straightened, blinking at his look-alike as though surprised.

He’s not. Not in the least.

“But dear brother, if she was less lovely perhaps, I could keep my hands from her.”

Riaura gasped slightly but her eyes followed Bast’s to Alazar’s furious face. He vibrated with aggravation.

Bast knows precisely how to ruffle my feathers. Though Alazar knew it, it made it none less annoying.

Bast chuckled, that same deep rumble she found so appealing in Alazar.

White smoke began to creep in. The room going cold.

Watching the deep shade of Alazar’s eyes was mesmerizing. Glistening as though a flame raged behind them.

Visions flashed through her mind’s eye. Alazar as he’d been when she was young. A comforting hand on her head and a shoulder to sniffle on. Carving her a butterfly. Teaching her to skip rocks. Her only true friend.

Yes, I was. Once.

Now she badly wants to see me as her enemy.

They left WaterRose.
