Chapter 94
Justin turned on the lights again, and Alexis divided the cake for everyone at the party.
Scarlett nibbled at the cake while some songs were playing on the big screen.
Getting a microphone and going up to the small stage in front, someone sang a song to Alexis. The atmosphere was quite convivial.
Scarlett was halfway through her cake when Alexis suddenly came over and said, "Lettie, can you sing me a song?"
Scarlett set the remaining half of the cake aside on the bar, "What song do you want to hear?"
"As long as you sing it for me, any song will be okay."
Scarlett raised her eyebrows and said with a smile," Okay, it's your birthday today. It's up to you."
Alexis whistled like a hooligan. Getting another microphone and following Scarlett to the stage, she said, "Come on, everybody. My versatile best friend Scarlett is going to sing me a song. Let's all put down ou cakes and enjoy her beautiful song."
Scarlett felt she blushed when Alexis said this.
She raised her eyes and glared at Alexis. Pulling over
a high stool and sitting on it, she ordered an English song named Love Story. Then she turned back and adjusted the height of the microphone.
As the slow and romantic prelude to the song came out, Scarlett raised her eyes and sang with a smile, "We were both young when I first saw you. I close my eyes and the flashback starts. I'm standing there on a balcony in summer air..."
This was a song of Alexis' favorite female singer Taylor Swift. Once Scarlett heard this song and thought it was sentimental, romantic and gentle, with warm and romantic lyrics, so she saved it in her playlist. During her sophomore year, Alexis wanted to participate in a campus singing contest and encouraged Scarlett to go with her, so Scarlett practiced this song.
Scarlett hadn't studied music, but had a very sweet voice. She became a campus goddess when she sang this song during the preliminary singing contest.
But she was accompanying Alexis to the singing contest, so she pretended to forget the lyrics during the final contest, stood on stage and just stopped singing on the stage.
When Scarlett began to sing, everyone at the party subconsciously became silent.
Standing offstage, Alexis was more of a fan, staring at Scarlett in amazement.
Raymond was invited to the party tonight by Alexander. He didn't want to be here, but Alexander said he wanted to talk something about Scarlett to him. Alexander was reluctant to tell him over the phone, so he could only come here with a cold face.
As soon as he came in, he heard someone singing a song in the small banquet hall not far away.
There was a soft and sweet female voice. She sang the song Love Story in a tender and sentimental way.
Raymond looked sideways. When he looked at Scarlett from this angle, she was singing on a stool on the small stage, holding the microphone.
Scarlett was wearing a purple sweater today. Her long hair was tied in a ponytail, with only a few strands of hair falling around her ears. She gently opened her mouth and sang. She was so sweet and beautiful It looked like she was glowing.
Raymond was standing there, and suddenly became still.
He had never seen Scarlett like this. There was a charm in her relaxed expression, which captivated him.
Off stage, everyone was very intoxicated. Apparently, they were all attracted by Scarlett's song. "'Cause we were both young when I first saw you."
She finished singing the song. Someone in the party room led the applause, and others followed suit.
Raymond watched Scarlett smiling as she walked off the stage, with no smugness or pride on her face.
Then he saw a handsome man walk up to Scarlett.
That man said something to her, and she smiled.
Raymond was sullen.
