Chapter 74
Inside the bar, Alexander raised his eyebrows and glanced at Julie, who was surrounded by several men not far away. He didn't intend to go forward to help her. Since even Raymond didn't help her, why should he do that?
Julie was staring at Alexander. She deliberately greeted Alexander before these guys gathered around her, hoping that he could pull strings for her.
Yesterday, Gale made it clear to her. She knew she couldn't count on him. Now she could only manage to get in with Raymond so that her company could get a loan. As she expected, Alexander called Raymond.
Julie was slightly relieved, but soon after that, she saw Alexander hang up the phone, glance at her, and turn his eyes away from her.
Julie's expression changed. She directly pushed the man in front of her away.
Chap had stayed there for a long time, thinking that he could hook up with her. Being pushed by Julie, he was enraged.
Seeing that she was leaving, Chap reached out and
pulled her. "Where are you going? Let me accompany you?"
Julie blanched, struggling to pull back her wrist, but Chap gripped it tightly. She couldn't get rid of him.
The other people who followed the man whistled and called him Chap, but Julie didn't hear it clearly.
Yet that let Julie know that the few men in front of her were not ordinary people. If Raymond came, she might even be able to take this opportunity to marry into the Shaw family. Yet Raymond obviously wouldn't come. Julie suddenly felt scared.
She took another look at Alexander and slightly pursed her lips. "I'm going to the restroom."
Chap let go of her. "Okay, I'll go with you."
Julie nodded and smiled, which made Chap relax his vigilance.
They walked towards the restroom. When they reached the bar counter, Julie called out, "Mr. Smith, what a surprise! You're here!"
She paused as if she was just saying hello to her friend.
Behind her, Chap's expression changed. He looked at Julie, then at Alexander, and silently walked away.
Chap thought, 'Forget it. He's not a guy to mess with.'
Alexander looked at Julie with a grunt. "It's indeed a surprise. Ms. Woods, you're quite good at enjoying the nightlife."
Julie's face stiffened, but she could say nothing. She smiled with embarrassment.
She exploited Alexander. He must have seen through her, so he taunted her. If she retorted, he might get angry.
She couldn't fall out with him now. She had to ask him to take her away.
Feeling bored, Alexander drank a glass of wine and glanced at Stephen. The two of them got up and went out.
Julie followed behind them with her bag. Looking at Stephen next to Alexander, she suddenly had an idea." Mr. James, I didn't drive. Can you please take me back?"
She lowered her head and pulled back her hair. "By the way, I haven't returned the camera that Cindy lent me."
Normally, when a woman said so, a man wouldn't refuse.
However, Stephen was not an ordinary man. He looked at her indifferently. "No."
He didn't even make an excuse. After exchanging a glance with Alexander, he directly got into his car and left.
Julie was stunned for a moment. As she raised her head and met Alexander's eyes, she flushed as if someone slapped her fiercely in the face.
"I'm not on the way either."
Before she could say anything, Alexander slid into his car, spinning the key and waiting for the designated driver.
Julie gnashed her teeth, so angry that her face was red.
