Flash-Married My Mysterious Mogul Husband-3 By Daphne Collins

Chapter 6

Chapter 6 Samson Gets Hired

“What’s not the right way?” Camila snapped.

“The way you just did. It was uncivilized.” Maxwell couldn’t help but shake his head at Camila’s approach.

Without saying a word, Camila played a recording on her phone.

In the recording, Raven repeatedly emphasized that it was Maxwell who asked Camila to cook and arrogantly told Camila to mind her own business.

As an experienced finance professional, Camila was always alert. Recording conversations with superiors and colleagues had become a professional habit, and it came in handy today.

The more Maxwell listened, the harder he frowned. He was not only shocked but also fuming.

After a long while, Maxwell finally spoke again, in a softer tone, “Raven was recommended by my aunt. If you fire Raven right after you married me, my aunt won’t like it. If you really don’t want to keep Raven, just hold it off for a while.”

Camila understood Maxwell’s dilemma, but she didn’t believe Raven could take. care of Gideon properly.

“In that case, I want to install surveillance cameras in the house.”

Maxwell knew Camila’s intention. She was worried that Raven might hurt Gideon.

“You can make the decision about this kind of stuff.” With that, Maxwell started the car and dropped Camila off at work on his way.

Maxwell’s company was not far from Camila’s workplace, but he didn’t want to expose his identity, so he pulled over at an intersection, saying that this was the furthest he could get her.

Camila got out of the car without suspecting anything.

As soon as Camila entered the company, she was stopped by Mackenzie.

“I have good news for you. Samson went for an interview at Startak Gaming yesterday, and the HR manager was quite impressed by him. If Samson gets into Startak Gaming, that will be a great success.”

“I don’t care anything about you or Samson. Don’t bother me with your stuff again.” Camila pushed Mackenzie away and tried to leave.

“Hold on. I haven’t finished yet. I heard you put your apartment up for sale on the Internet. Instead of selling it to a stranger, why not sell it to Samson and me?”

“Can you pay in full upfront?”

“Well, we can’t do that, but we can pay in installments. If Samson gets hired by Startak Gaming, he’ll have an annual salary of around 100 thousand dollars. Then, he will have no problem paying you.”

“I want a full payment. I won’t sell it in installments,” Camila firmly declined.

“Why can’t you be flexible? You and Samson once dated. Can’t you budge a bit?”

“Mackenzie, I’d rather sell the apartment at a discount than sell it to you two.”

Without waiting for Mackenzie’s response, Camila quickly walked into the office area, leaving Mackenzie stomping her feet in anger.

The apartment was in a great location, well decorated, and at a low price, but Mackenzie just couldn’t have it. How frustrated she was!

At the meeting room of the Startak Gaming.

In the morning meeting.

Maxwell’s eyelids kept drooping, and he kept yawning.

The executives exchanged glances, wondering what Maxwell had done last night. He seemed like he hadn’t slept all night.

Did he work overtime? No, Mr. Starling didn’t leave that late yesterday.

Did he go to a bar? No, Mr. Starling didn’t have that hobby.

Did he play video games? No, Mr. Starling never played video games.

After ruling out all kinds of speculations, everyone believed that Maxwell must have spent his night with a woman yesterday. Because there was a strand of long hair on his shoulder, swaying with the central air conditioning’s cold breeze.

It seemed their Mr. Starling had exhausted himself with sex last night, so everyone wisely kept their reports brief and the meeting was over soon.

News of Maxwell spending his night with a woman quickly spread throughout the entire company.

When Maxwell returned to his office, he saw an investigation report about Camila

on his desk.

He propped up his forehead and struggled to read two pages. When he read about Camila living with her boyfriend Samson for three years, Maxwell’s hand trembled.

Why did she marry him if she already had a boyfriend?

It was not just a boyfriend, but a boyfriend she had been living with for three years!

Maxwell felt his blood boiling and his face turned cold.

Although Maxwell and Camila were only married on paper, the term “living together” was something he couldn’t accept.

Maxwell had dated his ex–girlfriend for five years, but they had never crossed that boundary. He could not tolerate premarital sex.

Words like vanity, faking innocence, two–faced, and liar flooded Maxwell’s mind.

He remembered Camila’s ecstatic expression when she heard that they would get a divorce after six months.

After six months, she would get 80 thousand dollars and go anywhere with her boyfriend.

Wait, it was not just 80 thousand dollars. There was also the 80 thousand dollars

he lent Camila.

What a calculating woman.

Maxwell slowly tightened his grip on the investigation report and was about to crumple the entire document.

The HR manager suddenly knocked on the door and came in.

Maxwell stopped whatever he was doing and looked up slowly. “What’s the matter?”

The HR manager was frightened by Maxwell’s expression and stammered, “M–Mr. Starling, yesterday the company interviewed two candidates. They were both applying for the position of Senior Network Engineer. The assistant manager, Mr. Darley, who is responsible for this project, took leave and asked me to make a decision. I don’t know how to assess the technical skills of engineers, so… so I brought their resumes here. Which one would you like to hire?”

After saying that, the HR manager put the resumes in front of Maxwell and got out of there as fast as he could.

Maxwell was cranky. Why did he have to handle such a trivial matter personally?

However, as he glanced over the resumes, he noticed the name on the top one read, “Applicant: Samson Lister.”

Maxwell opened the resume.

Samson Lister, male, 24 years old, majoring in network engineering from a prestigious university, previously worked as a technical supervisor at Sunshine Network Communications.

Was he Camila’s boyfriend?

His technical skills were average, and his credentials were just showy ones, not practical or impressive.

Maxwell then looked at the address section and found that Camila had filled in the same address when she applied to be his wife online.

Indeed, Camila and Samson lived together.

Maxwell was glad that he hadn’t revealed his real identity in the advertisement. A woman who was so vain would probably be difficult to get rid of once she knew his true identity.

After contemplating for a moment, Maxwell called the HR department, instructing them to hire Samson with a monthly salary of 8,000 dollars.

Samson received the job offer and immediately told Mackenzie.

During the lunch break, sitting next table to Camila, Mackenzie bragged about her boyfriend being capable of earning 8,000 dollars a month.

Her voice was so loud that the entire company could hear her.

Camila was distracted in the afternoon and made several mistakes while doing her work. It was a struggle to make it through until the end of the workday.

Hudson called, saying that Gemma had an illness attack as soon as she checked in the hospital.

Camila hurried to the hospital.

Gemma’s condition was critical and needed surgery immediately.

Camila convinced the hospital to accept a deposit of 80 thousand dollars, and they finally started to set up Gemma’s surgery.

Hudson was graduating from college this year and preparing his thesis, so Camila sent him back to school and stayed at the hospital herself to keep an eye on Gemma.

At 9:30 p.m., Camila’s phone rang, and it was Maxwell calling.
