Chapter First 74
Chapter 74
I’m sure it was a mistake, Leila wouldn’t do that to you on purpose,” Tatum frowns as he helps Carmela to her feet, glancing at Leila who holds an unreadable expression on her face.
First, at the tunnel and just now, Carmela is not trying to hide the fact that she wants to harm her. She doesn’t care what anyone says but she is not putting her baby’s life at risk by living under the same roof as
Carmela.
She knows that demanding for Tatum to send Carmela out of the house will put him in a difficult position but her child’s safety is what is more important to her and Carmela is no friend either.
Who harbours their own enemy?
“She did it on purpose. I’m telling you, it wasn’t a mistake,” Carmela hugs Tatum, sobbing into his chest. “She wants me gone, she wants me out of your life. She has already taken what is rightfully mine and now she wants to take my life too.”
Leila sees the hard eyes Adaline is looking at her with but when their eyes meet, Adaline’s gaze softens and she doesn’t say anything.
Tatum slowly pulls Carmela away from him, a conflicted look on his face as he locks eyes with Leila.
Is he going to take Carmela’s side again?
Is he not going to ask for her own side of the story?
She knows he cares about Carmela and that she is his mate but he
chose her, that must mean something.
“Theo, take Carmela to see if she has any injuries, I’ll talk to Leila,” Tatum replies, gently handling Carmela over to Theo but Carmela shifts
away.

Bud) cannot kase dong this, my life is
wraps, Lails can move with me to our mansion. I can take care of her and the baby there. That way, she and Carmela won’t cross paths and things can take their natural course,” Adaline
a patronising voice.
A bitter sting strikes Leila’s heart and she smiles wryly. Adaline only cares about the child, not her and taking her out of the way to their mansion will leave Carmela and Tatum alone in this house
Better. I don’t want to die because I was destined to be yours,” Carmela says with puppy eyes, a sad pout on her lips.
Leila’s heart slowly thuds, her eyes fixed on Tatum and Tatum alone as he looks from his mother to Carmela and then to her.
What is his decision going to be?
Is he going to send her away to his father’s house and keep Carmela here with him?
The thought alone teases Leila’s heart with pain but she keeps her face impassive, not saying a word. Till now, he hasn’t asked for her side of what happened. It’s like he agrees she actually did it and is trying to mitigate the situation on her behalf.
“You are right, mother, I cannot have the both of them under the same roof but Leila is my wife and she is carrying my child, she will remain here in our home,” Tatum says calmly to Adaline before he turns to Carmela.
“I know how this must be hard for you and I will not act insensitive to your feelings or the prophecy but you must understand the situation.
While I am working on a solution for your wolf, I cannot treat Leila any less than she deserves. That being said, Theo, find an apartment for Carmela and help her move there at first light tomorrow,” Tatum’s voice is curt with authority coating it.
Leila finds herself blushing subtly with a smile that she fights to hold back. With the words coming from Tatum himself, Carmela cannot
argue it.
She will have her man all to herself.
“No…you can’t do that. You know I can’t sleep without you to soothe me. My wolf needs to always be around yours for it to heal,” Carmela rushes to Tatum’s side, tears almost spilling from her eyes.
“Tatum, you must consider this carefully. I know the baby is important, it is your first child but Carmela is the Luna of prophecy, I will take good care of Leila, let her come with me,” Adaline adds quickly.
Leila scoffs softly, slowly walking down the stairs, she sees the confusion clear in Tatum’s eyes but choosing her to stay is all she needed from him. She will handle the rest now.
“Mother, I am staying in this house and I will give birth to my child here,” She says, dragging the neck of her dress down to reveal Tatum’s mark.” Right now, this is the only mark that matters, it is the mark of the Luna of this pack and until Carmela gets it, no one can make me leave.”
Her voice is cold and finite and she faces Carmela.
“You can sleep pretty soundly without Tatum, you did it while he was away, didn’t you?” She pulls Tatum away from Carmela to her side possessively. “He’s my alpha and my husband, not a lullaby and I will no longer condone it.”
