Chapter Truth
"Thank you Jesse." His father said as the young man walked away.
He handed the backpack to Sam and told them to shift and get dressed in the room to the right. Sam made his way over, and Rosalie followed but stood outside the door as if on watch.
Sam came out within minutes and eyed his father.
"And what about your girlfriend?" He asked Sam.
"We need to talk...he looked at Rose...privately." Said Sam
..........................
They made there way through the double doors and Rosalie took in the room. It was a massive office with high ceilings and wall to wall shelves lined with books. In the middle of the room was a long table that could sit at least 10 people, and a stained glass window that allowed the sun to display a beautiful array of colours. They made there way towards the table and his father took a seat.
"So what's so important, you've come here after a year of avoiding this place?" He asked Sam.
He sat with his face resting in his palm.
"Dad, I'd like to introduce you to my friend." Sam looked at Rose to ensure she was alright sharing her name and life story.
"It's ok Sam. Please tell him." She said.
"This is Rosalie Winters. She was part of the Ka-Luna pack many years ago, and they were attacked. She lost her parents that night and she's been on th-"
His father held up his hand and silenced him.
"Why are you telling me this son?" He looked at Rose. "Shouldn't I be hearing this from you young lady?" He asked.
Rosalie whimpered and looked at Sam.
"Dad....he sighed....she can't."
"What do you mean? Just shift young lady." He demanded.
"Dad!" Sam yelled. He took a deep breath to calm his nerves.
"This is why we are here. The night of the attack was the first night she's ever shifted. Since then she hasn't been able to shift back to her human form. It wasn't until recently we have been able to mind transfer." Sam specified.
"I can only hear you Sam." She said
Sam looked at her unaware of her inability to hear or converse with others.
"What is it son?" His father asked.
"Apparently she can only hear me." Sam placed his head in his palm.
"Hmm interesting." His father pondered.
"Anyway. We are here to see if you have any records of her pack. Anything to help us figure out what happened, or if there's any survivors. Who attacked and why." Sam was almost pleading.
"And you think by finding out this information it will help her shift back to her human self." He stated.
Sam looked back at Rosalie and smiled.
"We're hoping." Sam said.
Rosalie stepped forward towards his father.
"Please sir?" She asked.
"She's asking that you please help." Sam relayed to him.
His father looked at Rose and drew in a deep breath. He stayed silent as if he was thinking about it.
"Please dad, if not for me, at least for her. She deserves a second chance at life. We are lost without our wolf, we can't imagine what she feels like without her human self." Sam again pleaded.
His father looked at Sam, and shook his head yes in silence. He then got up from the chair and kneeled down before Rose and put his hand out. She looked at Sam and then placed her paw in his hand.
"You can call me Henry." He said, then shook her paw.
He stood back up, then turned his gaze to the both of them. His arms crossed.
"I hope you packed some extra clothes, because this might take awhile. So prepare to stay for some time. Nothing here has been transferred electronically, so we are going to have to dive in the old nitty and gritty way. But dont worry Miss. Rose, well get to the truth." Henry said.
Knock~ Knock
"Come in." Yelled Henry.
Rosalie could smell who it was before he even walked through the doors.
"Locklin....I'm glad your here. This is my son Sam, and his companion Rosalie." He pointed to them.
Locklin stood there with his hands behind his back. He had the same build as Sam however, more defined in stature. His hair was black as the night sky, and his eyes shared the same color as his wolf. Black.
"I'm sorry about earlier." He said. "If I had known that we were having visitors, perhaps the first time we met wouldn't have been so......hostile." He grinned.
"Sam, this is Locklin. He is the alpha of this pack, and was chosen for this role shortly after you...he cleared his throat.... departed." Henry stated.
"Nice to meet you." Said Locklin. "I won't keep you too long, I just need to know if we are setting up a room for our two guests." Locklin asked Henry.
"Yes, that would be wise. Thank you Alpha." Henry replied.
Locklin then took a glance at Rose before he made a quick exit for the door.
"Alright you two!" Henry got their attention. "You guys should get settled, as it's already been quite a day, and we can start first thing tomorrow morning. Sound good?" He asked.
"Sounds perfect." Said Rose.
"Sounds like a plan." Smiled Sam.
Knock~ Knock
"Come in." Yelled Henry.
"Ah Mandy, took you long enough." He said.
"I came as soon as you called me." She replied.
Rosalie looked confused as she never noticed him calling anyone. She looked at Sam. He then mouthed to her mind transfer....she rolled her eyes.
"Mandy, this is Rosalie. Could you please show her to their room? I need to have a private talk with Sam here." I gestured to her.
It was as if Mandy and Rose could mind transfer, for it was at the same time they looked at Sam and said good luck. Mandy then opened the doors for Rose, and they made their way out. As for Sam....
"Now son." He sat back down. "It's been some time since we've been face to face, and we have certainly had our disagreements in the past. But unfortunately for you, I'm the least of your problems."
"W.....what do you mean?" Sam hesitated to ask.
"I'm sorry son, but she knows your here." Henry said.
"Who?" replied Sam.
Knock~ Knock~
"Your mother."
Sam gulped.
