Finding Rose

Chapter Eclipse

After humiliating Sam, Rose let him go back to the room to get ready. She stayed down near the foyer, as she watched people of all shapes and sizes make there way to the festivities. The party was in full effect, and music could be heard resonating from the banquet hall and outside at the bonfire.

"Already to go check things out..or are you hired security?" Sam chuckled at his lame joke.

Rosalie barely even recognised him. He wore a black t-shirt with a high neck collar and dark denim jeans. The biggest thing was that he shaved his beard. She had to admit, it looked real good on him. What was hiding behind the beard was a strong jaw line, and his eyes didn't feel like they were hidden anymore. His smile was even more beautiful then before.

"I know right!" Sam pointed at his face. "I'm pretty good lookin hu?"

"And.......there he is." She stated as she rolled her eyes.

"What?" He said cackling.

Rose started walking towards the doors that led to the bonfire.

"Come on, let's go there first. I saw some tents set up, and I'm pretty sure they got some food." She said hastily.

Sam just looked at her and walked off shaking his head in amusement. There were hundreds of people that flooded the field where the bonfire lay. It was already lit and the flames were shooting up into the sky about a 100 feet. The heat that was generated from the fire, cascaded everyone like a warm blanket. Rose already made her way into one of the tents, while Sam was waiting outside and talking to a few members from another pack. She was able to scrounge up a couple of meaty treats and after indulging, she made her way outside. She could see Sam talking with a few others, and stood there just gazing at the wonderful festivities. People were laughing, dancing, sharing stories. A couple guys to the side were play fighting and having a good time. Even Mandy was flirting it up with a guy. She felt so much joy, knowing that she was a part of this and almost felt like she was part of something bigger. She turned towards the bonfire, and started to get lost in the flames. Such a display of power, that came from within.

"Sam!" She heard a young woman yelling in his direction.

He turned around, only to get pushed back as the young woman jumped into his arms. Rose watched him hug her back and it was like a sting to her chest. He set her down and was talking to her with her hand still on his chest. Rose tried to make out what they were saying, but the amount of people made it hard for her to hear. She felt a cold shiver move up her body. Was it jealousy, anger?

"So what do you think Ms. Winters?" A voice said.

She looked over and Locklin was walking towards her. She answered him, when he stood next to her.

"It's wonderful, and please Rosalie is just fine." She replied.

He looked as if something was bugging him. "Look....Rosalie. I..owe you an apology."

She quickly turned to him.

"I haven't been very welcoming to you and Samuel, and I want to apologize for my crude behaviour." She tried to brush it off but he insisted. "I know I've given you the impression that your not welcomed here." He got down to her level. "But I want you know that, that is quite the opposite. And....if you have no where to go, you are more then welcome to join our pack." He offered.

"Really!?" She asked shocked.

"I don't expect you to make a decision right now, but if you ever do decide, just know that we see you as one of us." He held out his hand.

Rosalie was so overcome with emotion, she pounced on his chest and nuzzled her head in his neck. He laughed and gave her a hug back.

"Thank you.....thank you." She sobbed.

"I'm glad your happy." He stood up. "I've got to make my rounds, so enjoy the rest of the night." He gave her a little wave and walked into the crowd.

Rosalie was so happy and overjoyed, the first person she had to tell was Sam. She looked back to where Sam was standing but he was no longer there. The young woman was gone aswell. She walked through the crowds of people, and felt the excitement diminish as she continued to look for him. Perhaps he was at the house she thought. Again she felt a jolt of shivers make it's way through her body. She stood still, to let it pass, but the cold feeling was lingering. Her stomach felt heavy, and the cold flash instantly turned to hot. She started walking again, but it was slowed down. Her vision was blurred and people were melting into eachother.

"Rosalie!" Yelled Mandy.

She was all gitty and sounded so happy. "You alright? You don't look so good." She asked.

"Ya, I think I just ate to much." Rose replied. "I think I'm just going to go lay down for a bit, and hopefully it passes."

"Hey Mandy!" Her new guy friend yelled.

"Okay well you go, and I'll come check up on you in a bit." She smiled before she walked back to him.

Her body felt so heavy on the way to her room, it felt like it took hours. She finally made it and was able to climb onto the bed. The pain in her stomach was intensifying and the cold and hot flashes weren't letting up. She closed her eyes in the hopes that, by morning she would be ready for day 2 of the festivities.

Sam's P.O.V.

He hopped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around his waist making his way over to the vanity. He swiped his hand across the fogged mirror and while looking at his reflection he ran his hand across his bare face. It's been a long while since he saw himself this way. He felt naked almost. He went with a black t shirt, dark denim jeans, and a dark leather wrist band that bore his pack crest on it. As he made his way down stairs to the foyer, he could see his ghost watching the parade of people make there way into the house. He smiled as she waited for him.

"You already to go check things out? or are you hired security? Ahahah."

She turned around and looked up and down him. He liked how she didn't say anything, just stood there taking in his appearance.

"I know right! I'm pretty good lookin hu?" He said.

"And....there he is." Sam saw her roll her eyes as she walked away.

"What?" He asked and followed.

Sam walked along side her, and could see the stares that were aimed towards them. A man and his wolf he thought to himself. He smiled internally.

"Come on, let's go there first. I saw some tents set up, and I'm pretty sure they got some food." She said hastily.

If there was one thing that he could appreciate, it was her appetite. They greeted a few people on the way, and Rosalie spotted a tent that smelled appealing.

"I'll wait out here for ya." He told her.

As she went in the tent he spotted a few old friends from a neighbouring pack, and made his way over. One of them noticed him and extended out his hand for a shake.

"Sam...long time no see buddy. I heard you were back." Said the young man.

"It's nice to be back. How have ya been Charlie?" Replied Sam.

They made small talk, and the others soon joined in the conversation. After awhile he thought it had been some time since Rose had gone in, and was about to go check on her when he heard his name being called. He turned around only to be bull rushed by a petite woman. He tried to see who it was, as she was hugging him. He moved his head back to get a look at her face.

"Brie!?!? Oh my god! long time no see." He hugged her. "How have you been?" He said excitedly.

Brie was a childhood friend that was part of another pack. You could say she was his first crush. She was gentle, caring and always sought the best for everyone. It was right around the time Sam turned 18 that she ventured off into the world.

"Good, good...I've been great! Your looking good!" She rubbed his chest. "I'm married now...... and aside from that nothing much else. What's happening with you?" She asked.

"Well...I'm not sure if you've heard, but I was on my own for a bit and now I'm back here for the time being." He told her.

"Yes, I'm hearing that you have a she wolf with you...she scanned the group....where is she? I've been hearing lots about her."

"Uh Ya! I'd love for you to meet her, let me just see if I can find her." He scanned the crowds of people and finally spotted Rose talking with Locklin.

"Locklin?" He thought to himself. He watched as Locklin got down on one knee, talking to her. Just as Sam was about to excuse himself he saw Rose embrace him. It stopped him dead in his tracks, and a sudden urge of heat coursed through his body. He looked away, and had to excuse himself. He took off towards the house, and ended up in co-ed bathroom. He turned on the faucet and splashed cold water on his face to cool off. He was so fixated on what he saw, he didn't bother to register the two shifters making out in one of the stalls. He took a couple deep breaths and had to talk himself down. Why was he talking to her? He's been nothing but disrespectful to her. And why did she hug him? He thought to himself. He was sure that she felt something for him as he does for her. But deep down, they were just close and nothing more. He looked at his reflection staring back at him.

"Don't be ridiculous Sam, it was nothing." He said to his reflection.

He took another deep breath and headed back out to the bonfire. He waved at a couple people that tried to get his attention, but he was on a mission to find Rosalie. He searched for her aimlessly and couldnt find her. He eventually ended up running into Mandy, and gently pried her off her new boy toy.

"Mandy, have you seen Rose?"

"Ya, not to long ago actually, she said she wasn't feeling well and I think went to bed." She replied.

"Okay thank you." He said.

Sam went to go find her. The eclipse was about to start and he didn't want her missing it for the world. He made his way up to the bedroom and gently knocked on the door before entering. She was laying on the bed asleep but shaking. He went to her and placed a hand on her side. She felt cold to the touch, which seemed odd as wolves have a constant warm temperature. And her breathing was fast paced.

"Sam." She called out in her sleep.

"Shh....shh I'm here." He told her. He pulled up a blanket and laid beside her to give her warmth. Her breathing became more regular, and he was able to drift off to sleep along side her.

The following morning, Sam woke up facing away from her. He could still feel she was there next to him, and figured she didn't make it for the eclipse after all. He could hear people already getting ready for the second day of celebration down the hall. He got up to shut the doors, so that it wouldn't wake her. When he shut them, he turned around to see a young woman in his bed.

He looked at her confused. He looked around the room and tip toed to the bathroom to see if Rose was hiding. Nothing there. He looked back to her. She was facing the other way, but she looked to be a tiny little thing. Her complexion was so light and smooth, her skin looked like silk. He looked up towards her head and saw her hair was long and blonde. As he was trying to figure out who it was, she moved. Sam quickly froze in place. She had the blanket draped over her waist, and the rest was exposed. Sam didn't want to move, but didn't want her to think he was some peeping tom. He heard a yawn come from her and she shifted her body in a semi upright position still facing the window. She looked around the room.

"Sam?" She said.

Sam was still stumped. He didn't remember taking a girl with him to bed. He started second guessing himself.

"Shit...did I go in the wrong room?" He thought to himself.

Sam watched her sit up. The sun was shining through the window, and she held up her hand to block the sun from hers eyes. She held out her hand and quickly took a look at it. He could hear her breathing quicken.

"What's happening?" He said to himself.

The young woman pulled away the blanket to reveal her legs. She gasped and ran her hands down them one by one. She ran her fingers across her stomach, and then ran them across her face. She ran them through her hair and grabbed a chunk and held it in front of her eyes. He could hear her choking up. She stood up from the bed, still facing away. He looked at her standing there not sure on what to do. He saw the outline of her body, and he thought she looked beautiful. He wanted to retreat into the bathroom, so he could leave her be, but the floor creaked when he took a step.

"Shit." He said

"Sam?" The sobbing voice said.

He turned around slowly, as he knews who's voice it was. The same voice that's been echoing in his head for the last several months. He looked at her.

"Rose?"
