Chapter 2278
Chapter 2278
Jason said with a grin, "Yeah, I'm going for a run tomorrow. I'll call you to join, so get up early!"
Sophia nodded, "I'll try my best!"
She paused, locking eyes with him, "I really had a blast today, thanks for spending your busy day hanging out with me."
"It wasn't just for you," Jason said softly, his gaze unwavering, "I had a great time too!"
Sophia caught the depth in his eyes, her heart skipping a beat, sensing something yet dismissing it as improbable.
"It's getting chilly, let's head inside," Jason suggested softly.
"Oh!" Sophia, snapped back to reality, waved her hand dismissively, "Goodnight!"
She walked straight to her house without looking back.
Jason watched her until she disappeared inside, then turned to his car.
As she entered, the warmth enveloped her. Sophia took off her coat and as she changed her shoes, she felt a whirlwind of thoughts. The way he looked at her-it seemed off.
She convinced herself she was overthinking. After changing, she walked towards the window, not even hearing Jasmine calling her.
Standing by the window, seeing his car gone, she breathed a sigh of relief. It was just her being paranoid!
"What are you looking at?" Jasmine approached.
Sophia walked into the living room, "Nothing much. Is Dad still not back?"
"He's swamped with year-end work!" Jasmine chuckled, pouring Sophia some freshly brewed fruit tea, "Been out all day, where did you guys go?"
Sophia, sipping the warm tea, casually said, "Amusement park, watched a movie, had hotpot."
"Wow!" Jasmine exclaimed, amused, "Sounds like a date. Didn't Jason say he had errands?" Sophia realized Jason probably made up an excuse to cheer her up.
Jasmine, looking at Sophia, laughed, "See, a day out and you look so much brighter. Young people should go out, not be cooped up at home."
"When I'm away, you miss me. When I'm back, you want me out!" Sophia huffed, heading upstairs, "Distance does make the heart grow fonder!"
"If you were with Jason, I'd be at ease, wouldn't miss you a bit!" Jasmine teased.
Suddenly recalling something, she
mumbled, "Honestly, you and Jason would be great together. He's
el
hame, capable, and takes care
of you better than we do."
Sophia stopped, frowning, "Mom, what are you talking about? Jason and I are just friends. Don't get any weird ideas!"
"Just saying!" Jasmine chuckled, "With your attitude, you really don't match someone like Jason!"
Sophia laughed lightly, "Exactly, I don't match him. So, no more talk about it!"
Adding, "And don't you dare bring it up to Gina. It would be awkward."
"I know when to stop." Jasmine said.
Sophia waved her off, heading to her room.
Perhaps due to exhaustion, Sophia didn't toss and turn with insomnia as usual. After scrolling through her phone for a bit, she quickly fell asleep, hugging her pillow.
The next morning, while Sophia was brushing her teeth, she heard someone calling her from downstairs.
She rushed to the balcony, toothpaste foam still in her mouth, and waved at Jason below, "Give me five minutes!"
Jason, in a crisp white tracksuit, glanced at his watch, "Alright, five minutes. If you're late, I'm coming up to get you!"
Sophia chuckled, closed the window, and hurried back to finish up.
Brushing, washing up, tying her hair, and changing clothes, Sophia managed it all in four and a half minutes, making it downstairs just before the five-minute mark, slightly out of breath.
