Figment of Dreams

Chapter Yule Break Trip (3)

‘Come on little bird, you won’t fall!’ he urged me up the ladder, pushing my ass from behind me, all the while I was protesting and cursing him out for dragging me up the tower. ‘Go on love! Even though I enjoy my current view I also want to get there before next year.’ I cursed some more and abruptly stopped in my tracks. He ran his head straight against my ass. ‘Damn little bird, that’s some cake you got there.’ I smacked his head and growled as I climbed the ladder faster. Once on top of the thing I was cold and I shivered inside the hoodie he had leant me. He was now wearing another one, the light blue with the black lining version of the school hoodies.

‘Now look around you!’ he said in awe. I rolled my eyes again and did as he said. My mouth dropped open. We were literally standing in a sea of fireflies. They were lighting up the night sky like little beads of light and it was magical. ‘They call it Firefly Castle for a reason.’

I awoke screaming for dear life. The Dark Stalker and I had been at the trailer park again and I hated that nightmare so much. I could still feel his dagger slicing my stomach straight open, my guts pouring out and holding them in my hands before all force of life was dragged out of me.

The cotton sheets clung to my sweaty body. My light pink camisole almost see through from the sweat coating every inch of my trembling body. I stepped out of bed and waggled to the bathroom. I splashed some cold water on my face and my neck and almost jumped out of my body when I glanced in the mirror and saw a shocked Sebastian standing in my doorway. ‘Fucking hell little bird, I’m glad you are alive.’

I sighed deeply and let my head fall forward. ‘I’m alright.’

‘Like fuck you are love, you were screaming like a banshee!’ he stepped closer and took my arm to turn me towards him. He was bare-chested, with a dark grey jogging pant that now hung loosely on his hips. As I had already figured out, his torso was long and lean muscled, tattoos everywhere.

Breathing heavily because he must have run here as soon as he had heard me screaming.

‘Nightmares.’ I added to clarify.

He frowned. ’Is it because of him?’ meaning Otto and the attack.

I shook my head. ‘It amplifies things but it’s not because of Otto.’ Sebastian flinched upon hearing his name but I had to say it out loud. He would not have more power over me. ‘I’ve had them for a while.’

‘This intensely?’ he ran a tatted hand through his unruly mane of hair, which was now slept on and looked even more gruffy. He glanced at my camisole and my state of being and I shrugged. ‘I look a mess I know.’

‘That’s not how I would subscribe what I’m seeing right now.’ The flirt was back and I groaned. ‘You can go now.’ I waved towards the door.

‘No.’

’What do you mean no?’ I bit back.

‘You have to tell me why you have them and what you do to fix it.’

‘Newsflash dickwad, I don’t have to tell you anything.’

Sebastian was on me suddenly, so close I could see the deep blue of his eyes were laced with flecks of gold. ‘I don’t like being screamed awake, thinking somebody is being murdered underneath my roof. So no love, you don’t have to but I would appreciate the effort of explaining.’

I sighed. ‘Please drop it Seb.’

‘Or is it because the way to fall back asleep is rubbing your little nub?’ he added playfully and continued. ‘Or a quick flick of the wrist? I can help you out you know.’ He wiggled his eyebrows.

‘You wouldn’t understand.’ I interrupted his train of thought because he was being carried away.

‘Try me.’

‘I’m not comfortable yet Sebastian.’

He stepped back like I had stabbed him, visibly hurt by my words. I did not mean that to happen.

I hurriedly added. ‘Music.’

He was confused and hurt and I had distracted him from my insult toward his character enough that he added. ‘Music?’

I nodded and sheepishly stared at my toes who were scraping the tile floor in an effort to avoid his gaze. ‘It helps me to fall asleep again.’

He nodded, contemplating that for a moment. ‘Okay, makes sense but why wouldn’t you want to tell me that?’

‘It’s not any music.’

‘Rap music? What the fuck love.’

‘It’s something about the angry talking that brings me back down.’

He snorted. ‘You are so weird sometimes.’

‘Look who’s talking.’ He was making me feel better though.
