Figment of Dreams

Chapter Raina (2)

Lux

I snorted and gave him my worst possible stare. I continued the explanation for him, anger trumping my sadness again.

‘Then you fucking kicked me out without an explanation! And here I am, feeling like I just dumped the love of my life, bawling my eyes out!’ I screamed at him. I pushed Ash away from me and crossed my arms defensively. My head was spinning from all of it.

‘No way…’ muttered the white-haired one. This time in awe. He glanced back at his brother. Sorrow in his grey-blue eyes. Silence stretched on and on. Oak was just staring at his hands. He took a deep breath and uttered.

‘I apologize, Lux.’

I couldn’t believe my own ears. He has never apologized to me before. I also had this very weird notion of loving him, which was still the Rania influence I assumed.

‘I just love you, Oakheart…’ I uttered words I would never say. Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the (F)indNƟvᴇl.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Who the fuck called him Oakheart anyway!

I slapped my hands in front of my mouth in pure shock. As if that wasn’t bad enough my voice added to my misery once again.

‘I love you so much, Oakheart.’ One more time please, for the people in the back, why don’t you?

Ash dropped his smirk instantly and pointed at his brother and then at me. Spluttering for words.

‘You, need to fix that! Like yesterday!’

Oak stood up and walked over to me.

’Lux, you are now feeling something that I hadn’t warned you about because only the very trained Paramages can even go there. You went into a memory and now you have what is called Phantommirage. You’ve taken some of Rania’s memories as your own, and you might feel a certain way about me now. It takes a while to reverse it but it is not entirely unheard of.’

All I wanted to do was hug him, so I did. I leaned into his winter crisp smell and inhaled deeply. He hesitated but hugged me back.

‘I’m sorry this is happening.’ Oak whispered in my ear soothingly.

‘I shouldn’t have let you leave.’ I was just holding unto him. Needing to be next to him.

‘Oakheart, don’t be sorry. I know you didn’t mean it.’ I heard myself say. Feeling stupid and in love with him at the same time.

’Yeah, this is not … nope… not happening.’ I felt Ash pry my hands from his brother's back. I protested heavily. Oak was hesitantly letting Ash have his way with me.

‘Brother, she needs the contact right now.’

’ Then she can contact with me.’ He snapped at him, clearly not finding any of it funny anymore. He grabbed my arms a little more forcefully, turned me around, and placed them on his chest.

I blinked up at him like I was seeing him clearly for the first time. I snapped out of whatever haze I was in and jumped back with my hands in front of my mouth.

‘No, I love Oak!’ I stuttered. Oak let out a bouldering laugh at the shocked expression on Ash’s face. Killing his dark mood once and for all.

Sweetheart, you cannot do this. You don't love Oak. We both know that. So drop the act.’ Ash drawled, and the playful sarcasm in his voice was back once more.

Oak came in between us again. When I looked him in the eyes, the Raina ghost came back out to play. I hugged him again. Ash growled. Literally growled like an animal at his brother.

’Oak, I’m not fucking joking. You are not… this is not…-’ he pointed at the scene in front of him. He was ready to fight his twin for this.

I had my eyes half-lidded, enjoying the fact that Oak was caressing my hair tenderly.

‘I will do my very best.’ Oak stated, clearly a little amused at his brother’s dismay with the whole situation.

‘I will make it right.’
