Figment of Dreams

Chapter A shot in the dark

Ash and I have been dating for two weeks. After everything, we finally found a place of peace and I was madly in love with the stubborn bastard. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ FindNʘᴠᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

I made it to the Shack just in time. I saw he was already seated. A big pint was in front of him and his long white hair was untied today, loose and wild as if he had been running through a storm. He was looking at the menu like he hadn’t already decided what he was going to eat. He was that kind of guy. Never come anywhere unprepared.

‘Sorry I’m late.’ I gave him a quick kiss and sighed, angry with myself for not making it earlier. I saw his entire aura change, his eyes lit up, and a small smile made his dimples pop. He quickly tied his long white hair in a messy bun, just the way I liked it. I couldn’t wait to run my hands through it later. I gave him a long kiss this time and slid down on the bench in front of him. Our feet and knees were touching.

We were really acting like a couple these days. Those old days long forgotten, where we loved each other but were too scared to admit it. I had loved him from the very beginning anyway and it was a strange thing to realize now when it was so clearly there.

‘You look a little tired, sweetheart.’ He stated the obvious and I sighed again.

‘I’m never going to make my finals and it’s stressing me out.’ I confided and put my head on my hands in defeat. Pouting at him. He let out a small chuckle and grabbed my lower lip gently.

‘When you pout at me like that I want to drag you out of here and pound something else at you real quick.' he groaned and i snorted at that awful pun.

'Put that pouting lip away sweetheart.’ He smirked and I slapped his hand away. Smiling because I liked the way he found me so attractive. I felt beautiful whenever I was around him.

We ate and joked and it had already relieved my tension for the most part. We were walking back to my dorm, his arm around my shoulder, while he kept on kissing the top of my head once in a while.

A shadow fell over me and I instantly froze. I sensed danger. Ash stopped too, sensing something as well. When I turned around the world slowed.

A hooded figure was pointing a small silver gun at me.

‘This is for the Rainers.’ He said and a shot rang through the air. For a moment I couldn't think. It felt like it was happening from afar. A sharp pain followed. A stark ringing was all I heard and Ash's deep voice was trying to reach me but I couldn't focus.

He had shot me straight in my stomach. The world slowed. The ringing became louder, and my entire surroundings faded. Ash shouted and grabbed for me as I tumbled to the ground, clutching my stomach.

I was bleeding out. I was not going to make it.

I coughed up blood. Ash had big tears streaking his face. Blood from my wounds was all over his hair and shirt, making him look like a warrior.

‘A-Ash..-’ I croaked, tears coating my vision. His hands were putting pressure on me as he yelled for help. We both knew when he moved me, I would bleed to death.

‘B-baby, stay with me o-okay! You a-are going to be a-alright!’ He was shaking from head to toe. He was not releasing his hands from the wound. I couldn’t feel my legs anymore.

‘I… l-love-’ I tried to speak but nothing but blood bubbled out between my lips. My lungs constricting.

‘NO!’ he shouted. ’We are not doing this, not doing this… no-’ he kissed me on my forehead, grabbing me against his body, like he could cling on to me or bring me back from this brink of death I was on.

But he couldn’t and I felt it.

I knew that I wouldn’t be seeing another sunrise. A calm feeling came over me next. I would be seeing my mother, my father, and Malin again. I would be free of all these responsibilities. No more pain.

I was so grateful to have met Ash, Sebastian, Skylark, and the others. The thought of leaving them was breaking me and started sobbing. I loved them so much.

‘A-ash..’ I croaked again, my voice becoming weaker. I couldn’t even lift my arms anymore. I could see him in a haze of white and grey, my vision becoming smaller. I was still coughing up blood and my lungs were filling.

‘I..love.. you…’ As for last words, those were some pretty good ones.

I slipped away, into the dark night, and as I closed my eyes for the final time, I at least had him in my vision.

My Ash.
