Figment of Dreams

Chapter 38: a darkness

I knew I shouldn’t have followed Melixes and Sebastian anywhere. Even though they had claimed Kai was waiting for me here. She had tricked me and now here I was, in this dark place surrounded by water.

A flashing neon light was all that was left to guide me out of here, but I could already tell by the rapid current swooshing by that it was going to be deep over there.

I was sitting here in the side tub, really considering climbing over the vines when a familiar voice approached.

‘Sweetheart is that you?’ Ash came floating by in the lazy river, which was more like a wildwater slide than a lazy river anyway, and was surprised to see me here.

I was sitting there, arms crossed, teeth cackling. All alone. I wasn’t cold but scared.

‘What’s happening here?’ he stopped himself by grabbing on to the edge of the rock I was sitting on.

‘Melixes…’ I just said and he scoffed. ‘That entitled little bitch! Did she hurt you? Are you okay?’ He sat down on the rock beside me and I nodded. ‘I’m fine, it’s just… I don’t know what’s happening after that drop over there… we don’t have these kind of things on earth.’ I lied. I didn’t want him to know I was scared of the water.

That felt like it was too personal. Yet, I had shared some really intimate moments with him, not only referring to the mind kisses.

‘I will go with you. It’s okay sweetheart.’ I slid down into the water and I already felt the fear grabbing hold of my throat. He read my expression and picked me up slowly. I instantly wrapped myself around him, not wanting to think about that drop. ‘Together, alright?’ he whispered in my ear. Soothingly grabbing the back of my head. I nodded against his shoulder. Inhaling his scent.

He made me feel calm.

He stepped us forward and together we dropped into the abyss.

After I had calmed down and changed, I was at the bar, casually sipping from my wine. It was only my second glass so no big bender over here. Kai sat next to me. His knee touching mine. He was drinking though. Already a little bit intoxicated.

I would have indulged too, if Skylar had joined me and her two obnoxiously fatherly brothers weren’t hovering around us 24/7. She however had went to bed already.

Olive and Bron had also tuned in for the night, the weed they had smuggled in had knocked them out rather early. At the other side of the bar Sebastian and his goons were loudly doing drinking games. I was playing a card game against Kai when Jax and Baylor joined our table.

‘Mind if we pitch in?’ Jax sipped from his drink and sat himself down. Baylor on his lap, smirking at me. I had to stop myself from rolling my eyes at them but Kai said sure. The fucking traitor.

‘I will get us some more drinks.’ I said and gave Kai a kiss before standing up as Kai was passing out the cards to everyone. S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FindNʘᴠᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

At the bar I was waiting on the three beers and a wine. When I spotted Ash at the far end, talking to some blonde chick.

She was curvy, short and had red lipstick on her full lips. A lot of make-up on, ostentatious earrings and a low cut V-neck red dress. I huffed at them.

What the fuck was he doing talking to her? She was older than him by a lot. And a Rainer. From what I could tell a little ditsy and also all over him. Not at all his usual type.

He glanced briefly my way just as they were putting down my drinks. I felt Kai kiss my neck and grab the drinks from the waitress hands to help me out. I glanced back and Ash was now full on making out with that chick.

A sudden pang of jealousy hit me in the stomach. I was not liking this. Not at all.

I joined the table again and after about two rounds I told Kai I was going back to our room. Actually hinting at him to follow me so we could cuddle and stuff. He was not getting the hint though. Or he was acting like he didn’t get the hint, because in the last few weeks he had become more distant. He had even stood me up one or two times and that was not like him at all.

Suddenly too busy being best buddies with Jax. He wanted to have a few more beers and then he would join me. I told him it was fine and was on my way to the room.

On the way there I had to endure some harsh comments from Melixes on my way past their group. Victoria, Otto and Lilith snickering at my expense but I ignored them.

Fiddling for my keys I heard female and male laughter behind me. An obviously intoxicated Ash and that bimbo were walking my way.

Off course he would be in some room close by.

As I was unlocking my door, they halted next to me. They were in the room next to us, great.

Ash was more wasted than I had ever seen him. He couldn’t even get the key in properly and that blonde couldn’t stop touching and caressing his back. She was not helping either.

‘You okay?’ I asked, what got me a dead stare from the blonde. He looked up, eyes glazy and hair loose around his shoulders. ‘Perfect sweetheart.’

He slurred his words and tried again. The girl was already fiddling with his pants and I was not sure what I was seeing was entirely consensual considering his current state.

‘Hey…’ I motioned to her. ‘Back off a bit will you…’ I stepped up and got the key from his hands. He grabbed my waist and slammed me against him a little too roughly, grabbing my face and ass, being possessive of me. I smelled the whiskey on his breath.

‘Sweet cheeks… what are you doing here?’ oh he was definitely out of it. That was it. He was not going in that room with that cougar. I glared at the woman and snarled. ‘Get out of here. I’ve got him!’

‘Like hell you are…’ she put her hands on her hips. Clearly not at all intoxicated. She was playing him. The fucking bitch. Meanwhile Ash was hanging over me, seeking for support.

‘I could call up Oak right now, you don’t want to fuck with that guy. He will literally break you in two for messing with his brother!’ that kind of did it. She knew who Oak was.

Well I guess every Rainer knew who the Paramore’s were so that wasn’t that surprising. She huffed and puffed and called me names, but she did leave.

He chuckled against my ear as I was trying to unlock his door. I held him up as we stumbled in and I dumped his heavy ass on his bed.

‘There… you need anything else?’ I said out of breath. He was one heavy ass mangod.

He had this goofy smile on his face. I had never seen him this drunk before.

‘You…’ he added and pulled me on top of him.

‘Stop it Ash, you know I can’t.’ he hugged me and kissed my head.

‘I want to sleep next to you again.’ He whispered, his voice cracking a bit. He was dead serious. I became pudding in his arms way too quickly and had to snap out of this.

‘We can’t…’ I whispered back. Lifting my head up to stare in his eyes. They were hooded, half asleep and half aroused. I patted his hard stomach, all muscle.

‘I got to go…’

He didn’t protest and let me get up.

‘Thank you for saving me from her…’ he added as I was already halfway to the door.

‘You’re welcome buddy…’ I saluted him.

‘She probably just wanted to try for a mark with me…’ he mumbled as he turned around and grabbed his pillow to hug it.

‘What? What does that even mean?’

But he was already snoring. So I just went back to my room and forgot all about that weird comment.
