Fight for Me

Chapter Unexpected visitor

Later that night

As dinner was coming to an end, majority of people already left, with just a few left at the table.

Layla was already over the day, she had no problem walking around her black, knee-length maid dress barefoot. She was still enjoying her conversation with Cody, so they decided to make some hot chocolate to continue their chat.

A few were still chatting casually when Nicholas and Tyler suddenly shot up from their seats and ran outside. Ben and Rebecca were following after them.

As they all stood in the front yard, no one dare to ask Nicholas what was going on, not with the way he was seething. Layla and Cody followed them out wanting to see what the commotion was about.

Suddenly, three gorgeous men appeared in front of them in quick flashes. The one in the middle took a step forward and Nicholas growled.

The man just smirked, revealing a slight dimple. He had slick black hair and a toned body clearly outlined in a deep v-neck. But the red glow in his eyes and the lengthened fangs revealed his identity.

“What are you doing here Sebastian?” Nicholas growled out.

“Tsk, tsk, tsk. You were the one that invited me, remember.”

“That was years ago. And I just extended an invitation. We never discussed the specifics of it as you never responded. I took that as a declination.”

“Well I’m here now.” He took a step forward with his companions following suit.

But all the wolves started growling as Tyler and Ben took a closer step behind Nicholas as a warning to the vampires.

Sebastian stopped in his track.

“Look, Nicholas.” Nick growled.

Sebastian just rolled his eyes. “Alpha Nicholas. I have accepted your invitation, and now I’m here. You cannot harm me. Now,……..I hear that you have someone here that is of interest to me. I’m sure you’ll have no trouble in assisting me, your guest, with this.”

“It will depend on who that is and what you want with them.” Tyler speaks up after a few seconds of silence.

Layla can see Nicholas turning his head slightly and giving her a piercing look from the corner of his eye. It’s freaking her out even more as she’s taking in the scene in front of her.

What if he’s talking about her? She never considered that they might send a vampire after her. She never thought that vampires would be willing to work for the likes of them. But the vampire hasn’t looked at her yet. So maybe she should just try and remain calm and watch this play out.

“I hear you have a cougar-shifter visiting your pack. I would like a word with him. I’m sure you can agree to that.” Sebastian crosses his fingers in front of him.

“And why are you interested in him?” Tyler carries the conversation on.

“Let’s just say that, that is coven-business. Nothing for you wolves to worry about.”

“Well you’re too late. He left this morning.” Tyler folds his arms.

Sebastian raises a brow. “I’m sure you wouldn’t mind if I had a look around.” He takes a step forward again.

Nicholas holds him back with his hand on his shoulder and the other vampires growl lowly.

“If you don’t leave my pack-grounds right now, I will kill you.” Nicholas growls out.

Suddenly one of the vampires lunges at Nicholas, but Ben steps in to slam him on the ground. Just as the other vampire goes in to attack as well, Sebastian speaks.

“Enough!!” He pushes Nicholas’ hand away. “You cannot harm me or my men on your territory. Not when we came here on your invitation. I. Am. Your. Guest.”

All the wolves growl out at his threat. No one likes the idea of having a vampire snoop around their territory. But they know it’ll take more than threats to get rid if them. But harming them might just get the council on their asses. And Nicholas hates the thought of that.

“Actually, not.”

They all turn their heads to the soft voice.

“Excuse me?” Sebastian looks at the beautiful woman behind the wolves, as her long pitch-black hair and ocean blue eyes glow in the moonlight. She looks like a goddess, he thinks.

She takes a few steps forward, probably realizing her voice will be too soft back there. She’s just a few steps away from the staring vampire, when she continues with all eyes on her.

“Well, from what I understand, you’re not actually a guest here. The specifics of the invitation weren’t stipulated. You might as well be here as just an acquaintance or perhaps even an incriminating suspect brought in for questioning. So, technically speaking, according to article 37 of Supernatural Law, you’re willingly here, but on Alpha Nicholas’ terms. Sooo,….. he can do whatever he wants with you.”

In a blink of an eye, he was in front of her, the speed of his movement blowing wind against her hair.

“Who are you?” He looks down at her with his red glowing eyes.

Layla knows one should be slow and steady in front of a vampire. But the way this one acts she knows he’s an old one. That means he won’t do anything rash, but he’ll definitely try to intimidate.

She slightly smiles, trying to hide it. “No one.”

Sebastian smiles back as he raises his hand and softly caresses her cheek.

“I don’t think so.” He inhales her scent.

He lowers his hand and gently wraps it around her neck.

Gggrhrh! Nicholas growls from behind Sebastian, as all the other wolves crouch, ready to attack.

“You’re not a guest here either are you, human?” He looks her up and down smirking as he gently squeezes, wanting to see fear in her eyes.

“That doesn’t matter. According to article 23, any acts of violence on another pack’s grounds, other than for self-defense is punishable by death, and without the need of your coven’s intervention.” She says firmly.

The sound of soft chuckling fills the air as it grows louder.

“Oh, my dear. You definitely are something.” He takes a handful of her hair and brings it up to his face, taking a deep sniff. “So delectable.” He hums out.

“I suggest you leave soon.” She says looking over his shoulder. “There is a very angry-looking Alpha behind you, and I don’t think he likes to repeat himself.”

He turns around and faces Nicholas and his men.

“Well then, Alpha Nicholas. I guess I shouldn’t overstay my visit. This was quite ……..interesting.” He says as he walks past them and back to his men. “I do hope this isn’t the last time we do business together. I’ll be sure to give a timeous response to your invitation next time.” He says as he looks at the small beauty behind Nicholas.

In a flash, they disappear back into the dark forest followed by a quick breeze.

After a brief moment of silence, Cody pulls her back by her arm.

“What the fuck was that Layla!?” He looks at her angrily. “That was a vampire, and you’re human. You don’t just do that. He could have killed you.” He hugs her tightly.

She softly giggles as she hugs him back. “Yeah. But things could have been worse.”

“Why do you know so much about Supernatural Law?”

She let’s go of Cody and looks at Tyler.

“Ugh,……well, …..it’s like a hobby of mine I guess. It’s gotten me this far, right.” She says with an odd smile.

Getting uncomfortable with the looks and a particular set of angry hazel eyes, she turns and grabs Cody’s hand.

“Come on. I’m sure our hot chocolate is cold by now.” She leads him back into the house.

Everyone left outside is beginning to wonder more about their suspicious maid. She’s making Nicholas just more curious about her. Even Rebecca is getting a nervous pit in her stomach, like there’s something she doesn’t know and it may come back later and bite her in the ass.

Nicholas doesn’t know what to think. He knows that Layla just stopped a probable blood-bath. His wolf is proud of her, but also infuriated. How could she risk her life like that for his pack? She didn’t need to. And how can she be so fearless in front of a vampire like that? She had a vampire at her throat and she didn’t flinch once. In fact, he’s pretty sure he saw her smile.

And what infuriates him even more is the fact that it was fucking hot. He always had a primal side. And seeing her look fearless in the sight of danger is a hell of a turn on. This little human is making him and his wolf second guess their choice.
