Feral Wolf

Chapter 7

The Alpha came walking up southeast of my territory. I waited at the top of the hill with Alecto and Isis flanking my sides. I managed to change into a pair of nice jeans and a clean t-shirt before he arrived. Alpha Altair was seven years older than me and apparently unmated. For him to come here without asking for an invitation, only meant two things. He was either here on bad terms or he was here for something he wanted.

He was walking up, dressed in jeans and a black t-shirt, his dark brown hair tousled playfully over his head. He was just as other wolves have claimed him to be—a handsome devil. He walked with confidence and assurance, with his beta and gamma flanking him too.

“Alpha Altair.” I announced as they came up to me.

“Alpha Czar.” He answered with a devilish grin.

“To what do I owe to your uninvited visit today?” I asked, my face set into a stern line.

He chuckled, his eyes twinkling as he looked at me. “I just wanted to come and see what the big fuss is about a female alpha ruling the northern territory with undeterred rule. You have become quite a talk around here. Even at the Supreme Alpha’s Court, you are talked about.”

I stiffened at his comment. If he thinks that by saying that he has flattered his way into my good graces, then that was a mistake for him.

I walked up to him until we stood almost toe to toe. My eyes flitted up to his as I spoke, “If you think that a few compliments will make me forget your blatant disrespect in crossing my territory without my permission then you are mistaken, Alpha. I don’t tolerate insolence.”

A growl escaped my lips as they curled in disgust. He didn’t look fazed. Instead, he looked even more interested. His Beta stood firmly next to him but looked at me with interest as well.

“I apologize for my unannounced visit. I was in a hurry and didn’t think about calling. I hope you can forgive me. I would keep this in mind for future reference.” He said.

“What makes you think there would be a future?” I muttered. He gave me a lopsided grin.

“Oh I know there would be.” He said lowly. “You are an interesting female, one I have never encountered before.”

His hand came out to touch my silver hair. “Is this natural?”

I snarled and took a step back. “Yes.”

“I see.” He looked at me a glint in his grey eyes. “And those moonlight eyes of yours, were you born with them?”

“What is your business here, Alpha Altair?” I snapped. I was not comfortable with talking about my appearance. I knew I looked different but I hated it when people pointed it out.

“I am seeking refuge here for a week.”

I scoffed, “You and I have no binding contract. I do not need to give you refuge. If you are seeking refuge you came to the wrong pack.”

“That is correct but I am here to seek a binding contract and refuge.”

“Explain what are you hiding!” Isis barked angrily. The Alpha’s eyes flitted behind me and then back at me.

“I am traveling to find a certain wolf and I heard he was around this area. I am only seeking a place to stay until I can find more information.” He continued. I huffed and weighed the consequences of having another Alpha on my land before he could talk I raised my hand to stop him.

“You can stay. However, this is not your land, Alpha. If you so much as insert your authority here I would take it as a challenge and won’t hesitate to rip out your throat and pull out your spine.” I spat out, my eyes flashing in warning at him. He grinned, then, and rocked back and forth on his feet.

“Great. Got it. No authority here.” He replied. I turned to Alecto.

“Alecto, please show Alpha Altair and his warriors to the guest floor.” I waved them off and turn to Isis.

When they were gone and out of earshot, Isis leaned towards me.

“I don’t trust them, Callie.” She spoke.

“You think they are here under false pretenses?” I asked.

“I think they are here under false pretenses but also with an ulterior motive.”

We walked back up the hill when I saw Brontes came charging back out and walking towards us. I turned to Isis immediately—not wanting to meet my mate just yet.

“I have to go. I’ll catch up with you later, Izzy.” I replied and began jogging in the opposite direction, away from my mate.

I made a couple of laps around my territory before I walked in from the back of the house. It was lame that now I had to sneak into my own home to avoid seeing my mate. My wolf was angry still and I didn’t want to end up ripping my mate’s heart out because I was acting foolish. I was normally a level-headed woman. I never let a male control my mind like this but Brontes was my mate. He was mine as I was his.

I walked into the kitchen to grab a water bottle from the fridge and gulped it down until it was empty, droplets falling down my neck. When I was done I turned to toss it in the recycling bin and bumped into a hard chest. I frowned and looked up to see Alpha Altair looking at me.

“Alpha Czar, fancy seeing you here.” He teased as he looked down at me. He wasn’t wearing a shirt, so his chest was in full display in front of me. My frown deepened and I moved to get around him but he held me back by holding onto my elbow and pulling me back in front of him.

“What?” I asked.

“You have some uh...” He motioned with his hand to my neck and I moved to wipe it but he only sighed and moved to touch my neck. I flinched and then I heard a growl by the door of the kitchen.

I turned to see Brontes looking at us and his eyes were red. Alpha Altair arched an eyebrow but didn’t let go of my elbow.

He stalked towards us and practically yanked me into his side, crushing me in a tight hold. His arm wrapped around my body possessively.

“Don’t touch her.” Brontes growled. His body was shaking.

“And why not?” Alpha Altair asked nonchalantly.

“She’s mine!” Brontes growled and shifted into his large wolf. Alpha Altair moved into a fighting stance and I moved to stand in front Alpha Altair to face my crazy mate.

“Brontes, calm down.” When I saw him look up at me, an unhappy growl escaping his lips, I sighed and kneeled on the ground. I touched his snout before scratching his ear. “If you break anything in this kitchen, I will be angry. Do you want me to be angry?”

Brontes stared at me for a moment before I heard his wolf huff. When Alpha Altair moved to kneel beside me Brontes snarled and snapped his jaw at the Alpha to stand back. The Alpha chuckled and turned towards me, where he purposely placed a finger on my chin to lift my face up to meet his eyes.

“I will talk to you later.” He said.

Brontes growled and lunged at Alpha Altair, biting his arm hard. His growls were becoming uncontrolled.

“Brontes!” I snapped. Brontes let go of Alpha Altair’s arm and then shifted on spot, standing naked in front of us.

“You won’t be talking to her.” Brontes growled angrily as he grabbed me again and pulling me away from a chuckling Alpha Altair. I don’t know why he would be laughing when he was bleeding all over my kitchen floor. I pack-linked Isis to check in on him and take him to see a medic.

When we reached our room I ripped my hands out of his grasp and reached for my door only to have Brontes spinning me around and boxing me in against the door.

“Who is that idiot downstairs? If he doesn’t stop staring and touching you that way I am going to kill him.” He ground out.

I arched an eyebrow, “He is Alpha Altair. He is here on personal business.”

“Personal business, my fucking ass. That fucker has his eyes on you.”

“So? What if he does?”

Brontes’ eyes narrowed and then, before I could stop him, his lips came crashing down on mine for the second time today. I clamped my mouth shut and refused to feel what was already vibrating through my body, but when he pinched my butt, a gasp escaped my lips and he claimed my mouth completely, my body falling against his weakly.

When he pulled back, he looked at me. “You’re mine, Alpha Czar—Calliope. You are mine and I am not letting you go.”
