Feral Wolf

Chapter 28

It all happened quickly. The hunters came out with their guns, tranquilizers, and other weapons. I wasn’t positive on the amount but I was sure that their numbers outnumbered ours but with our strength and agility we were well matched in bodies.

“Kill them all! Watch your flanks and do not let them put you out!” I commanded in my Alpha tone, the sound vibrating in the air above all others.

My hands came up to cup Brontes’ cheek in a desperate manner as I spoke. “Watch yourself, Brontes. I need you alive.”

“I need you alive too.” He whispered and we broke apart. My back was turned to his as I jumped over a table with my claws extended to kill a hunter who was about to attack one of my warriors from behind. My hands went for this throat, ripping out his trachea. My warrior turned at the gurgling sound and when he saw me he nodded before continuing fighting.

The fight went on for what seemed like forever until I saw that slowly one by one my warriors were being shot down with tranquilizers. They were going to try to capture us not kill us. Brontes was still fighting close behind me and when a hunter close by me tried aiming his tranquilizer at Brontes I zipped up to him and snapped his neck with my hands. He dropped to the ground immediately.

A loud gunshot was sent through the air and out came a tall, lean female with red hair from the home. She was clapping her hands as she approached me. Everyone stopped immediately to look at us.

“Well, if it isn’t the female Alpha.” She taunted, her eyes flitting up and down my body. “This is the bitch that is Brontes’ mate?”

I growled dangerously as fur prickled my skin. I snarled out her name in disgust. “Victoria.”

Her eyes lit up in surprise and a slow, nasty grin came to her face. “So he told you about me?”

“You disgust me.” I spat out.

“I might disgust you but when it comes to Brontes I knew he enjoyed every moment as I fucked his cock repeatedly.” She taunted and I saw red.

I couldn’t shift in my armor but my wolf forced her way out to control me. A growl unheard of escaped my lips and I lunged at her with amazing speed, sending us both falling to the ground and me on top of her. My pack warriors began fighting again to ward off the hunters who were trying to stop what was happening. I curled my hand into a fist and punched her repeatedly in the face. The sound of bones breaking was loud and satisfying.

“Mine!” I snarled and with one swift movement lifted my hand in the air, my claws extended, and I rammed it down on her chest clawing at her heart. The sound and feel of blood gurgling and rushing out of her chest was clear. She was screaming in pain and when I felt her heart beating in my hand I yanked my hand out, tearing it away from her now lifeless body.

I was still growling and snarling as I turned to Victoria’s body and tore off all her limbs. When I was done, I was heaving with anger and an uncontrollable rage. My body was shaking. I began stripping off my armor and when it was completely off I gave control completely over to my wolf. I shifted on the spot. My wolf was feeling a high amount of emotions and for that it was snapping its jaws at everyone as it chewed Victoria’s limbs. My animal side had completely taken over and I couldn’t control it because I was just as angry.

Brontes came into view as he slowly knelt down in front of me. “Hey, now.”

His hand slowly came up and touched my snout before running his hand back to my ear where scratched it. The tingling feeling could still be felt as he touched my wolf’s fur. She purred as she rubbed against him.

“I am yours, Calliope. You are okay. Victoria is dead.” He replied, trying to get through to me. When I tried pushing forward again my wolf refused to listen. Brontes cupped my wolf’s cheek and lifted her head to look at him.

“You need to bring back Calliope.” My wolf snapped her jaw in annoyance and snarled at him for ordering her around when she was the Alpha. He chuckled and shook his head. “C’mon, now. You need to listen. Bring back your human side.”

My wolf huffed in annoyance and slowly I began feeling the power of control shifting back to me. I looked into Brontes’ eyes as I began shifting but was temporarily distracted when I heard a gunshot rang through the air again. I frowned as I thought we killed all the hunters already so how could there be gunshots. A slow ache began spreading from my side and Brontes’ eyes widened as his hand moved from my cheek to my side. When I had completely shifted back to human form the pain on my side radiated tenfold.

I collapsed against Brontes’ chest and he grabbed at me quickly to keep me from falling to the ground. A startling, angry growl escaped Brontes’ lips as his beautiful, emerald eyes flashed red and his head snapped up to look at the hunter who had shot me. Brontes’s carefully laid me on the ground and approached the hunter in a dangerous stalk. I blinked a few times to keep myself awake but the pain was unbearable and soon I started to see black dots cloud my vision.

“Brontes...” I whispered, looking at his back as he grabbed hold of a now shaking hunter by the throat. The exhaustion overtook me and my eyes fluttered a few times before I let total blackness take me over.
