Feral Wolf

Chapter 22

Calliope...

Calliope...

Wake up, my female.

Brontes?

Calliope, my beautiful fierce female, I need you to open your eyes for me.

I felt the muscles on my face twitch, my left hand following closely behind, and my eyes fluttered opened to see Brontes’ concerned face looking at me and when he saw me he broke into a smile.

“Brontes?” I hoarsely whispered.

“Calliope, finally.” He lowered his face immediately to plant kisses all over my face and then placed his forehead on mine.

“I’m fine.” I muttered, my hand coming up to cup his cheek weakly.

“I know you are fine but it doesn’t stop me from worrying.” He whispered hoarsely. “You scared me, Calliope. When I saw you all bloody like that...you my fierce female...limp and lifeless. I don’t ever want to see that again. Don’t you ever do that again. Next time, I am going with you into the dungeon even if you don’t need me.”

I gave a soft laugh, “Brontes, I didn’t realize he was going to attack me until it was too late. He tricked me. I should’ve felt it but I was-I wasn’t myself. I should-”

“Calliope, even the oldest of trees can still crumple and sway to the wind. You can be strong but you can also be weak, my female. It is okay. You are still the strongest and most intelligent in my eyes.” He whispered and moved to plant a gentle kiss on my forehead.

“What happened?” I asked. My heart was fluttering at his sweet words. He was right. I had spent years perfecting being an Alpha that wanted no weakness but without weakness I won’t grow stronger. I needed both to survive.

“I killed him.” He stated simply but it came out with a snarl at the end. I patted his arm and caressed his tight shoulders.

“What did you do?”

“My wolf took over the minute we saw you bloodied in front of us.” He explained and continued telling me about what he did and when my father took me away what he did afterwards.

“What about Mathias?” I asked.

“He saw everything.”

I sighed and closed my eyes. I was just so tired. I just wanted a moment of not having to worry about anyone else but me. I just wanted a brief moment of me just being a normal female.

“You know you can have that.” He whispered.

“What?” I asked and my eyes fluttered opened to look at him.

He chuckled and the corner of his mouth lifted into a sexy, lopsided grin. “You can have a moment where you can be selfish and just do what you want.”

“Oh really?” I quirked an eyebrow as I looked at him. He nodded and bit his bottom lip. My eyes dropped to his and I let the walls of resistance crumble as my hand moved from his cheek to the back of his neck where I pulled him down for a kiss. He inhaled sharply but he allowed me to nibble on his lips and then dip my tongue inside to taste his wonderful mouth. He growled in the back of his throat and his hands came to cup my cheeks as he took over the kiss. I sighed against his lips as he made love to my mouth with his tongue. We danced and twirled and it was like I was on a high and couldn’t come down from it. His kiss was soft and gentle but spoke so many words it was leaving me breathless.

A cough behind us broke us apart. Brontes was rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly and I covered my face with my hand.

“It seems you are feeling a lot better now.” My mother spoke with a smile.

“Did we interrupt something?” In came Isis and Orion. They both stood at a distance and I quirked an eyebrow at them.

“Brontes why were you giving Alpha Czar mouth to mouth?” Achilles asked as he also came walking into the room with them.

“After Alpha Brontes is done giving Alpha Czar mouth to mouth, I might need some later too from him.” Alpha Altair spoke as he came walking in with them. I rolled my eyes. Could this get any worse?

“Who is giving who mouth to mouth?” My father came walking in right behind. He looked around the room with a frown on his face.

“Well, Alpha Brontes was-” I threw a pillow at Isis and Orion blocked it with his hand, with it falling to the ground. He gave me an apologetic smile. I huffed and turned to a laughing Alpha Altair.

“If I may be in assistance to telling you what really happene-” I threw another pillow at Alpha Altair and it hit him in the head. He frowned but shut up.

“Can we all just put this to rest?” Brontes asked, a little sheepishly.

Achilles crawled onto the bed and then spoke, “How are you doing, Alpha?”

“I’m feeling better.”

“That’s good to hear. Brontes was really worried. He wouldn’t leave your side but you heal quickly. You know I heal quickly too.” He continued. “One time my dad hurt me with his claws when I was hungry and stole some food from him he punished me by using his claws to mark my skin but it only healed right after he did.”

Everyone looked sickened by the thought of someone who could do that to a young pup but what distracted me the most was the part that he said he healed quickly—only Alpha born were able to heal quickly. Brontes seemed to know what I was thinking because he answered immediately afterwards as he looked at me.

“Achilles’s real dad was an Alpha. The one you killed was the one who took him away from his pack.” He spoke.

My eyes widened in surprise and I turned to look at Achilles who nodded as if he was also trying to convince me.

“Your father is Alpha?” I asked.

“Yes. My dad that took me said that I was an Alpha bastard that my dad was a no good alpha and that his sister was an idiot to fall for him.” Achilles continued.

“Do you know what your real dad’s name is?” I asked as I tried pulling myself up into a sitting position. Brontes immediately moved so that he was situated behind me, holding me up, and wrapped his arms around my torso. I was fully healed but it was nice for him to worry and want to help me sit up.

“I don’t know my real dad’s name but my mom’s name was Yuna.”

Alpha Altair’s face was ashen and it looked like he just ate something bad as he looked at Achilles.
