Chapter 17: Unveiling Secrets and Betrayals
After the scene, we headed to the meeting room to begin the plan. We were in a very dangerous situation. Shawn and I hadn't discussed ourselves yet, but I'd bring it up with him later. We were awaiting the arrival of the others. Shawn's father had a serious expression on his face, and I could see why. Perhaps he sensed danger and was preparing for it. I was sure he was still angry at his father for what happened to his wife, but they didn't have a choice. It was impossible to undo what had been done.
"Where is Daddy Truce, Shawn?" Everyone's attention was drawn to me because of my inquiry, but my gaze was locked on the man I was questioning. He let out a sigh.
"He is a member of the Peur Organization. Grandpa is unaware that he is a foe," I kept my mouth shut and didn't ask for anything else. Daddy Truce might have a plan. If he knows he's no longer safe, he won't just sit there.
I remembered the book I had been reading. Mr. No came to mind when I was thinking about this. Was he most likely to lead the newly established organization? What was his motivation, if I was correct? Did he realize what he was doing was wrong? Prior to it, he aided Mr. Shon and indoctrinated him, producing uncertainty, as far as I know. But, as they say, everything changes. It is up to him to decide. Perhaps Mr. NO is the mastermind, and he's assisting us in eliminating and defeating the Peur Organization so that we can live in peace.
I'm having another deep thought as a result of this knowledge. Shawn, of course, had no idea that Mr. Shon was to blame for his great grandfather's death. The truth has been kept hidden. Daddy Truce handed Kimeniah the book and informed her that I would be in the library. Daddy has a plan, and he's a spy, as I suspected. Perhaps he has a connection to the new company's mastermind, or should I say, Mr. NO.
"They've already arrived, Mr. Shione."
From what I've heard, I've been brought back to reality. The meeting will begin shortly. Mr. Shione's men entered, clothed in black. They are also well-trained individuals who follow their Master's orders. They sat down right away in the seats that had been set aside for them. This conference room is quite large. I had no idea they were quietly constructing a hideaway, so they're poised for when things go wrong. They're succeeding, too. Mr. Shione is undeniably intelligent and attentive.
"So, how's it going? Are you aware of what's going on here?" Mr. Shione mumbled something, and his gaze was drawn to the guy with a gloomy aura. I'm aware of his presence. He's still powerful, but I keep a wary eye on them. I promised Shawn that I would be respectful and not interfere, and that I would simply listen. In response, I noticed him nodding.
If I had been impoverished, I could have passed out from the coldness of his presence. I couldn't see his face, but I was sure he was ruthless when he fought. "They've done an excellent job of preparing it. They practiced and planned a surprise attack on the university. Right now, your father is frustrated, and no one can help him. We could see the Fentanyl blood coursing through his veins," he went on to explain why I had gasped in shock. Whoa. I assumed the experiment could only be completed by one person? I never had the impression he was tampering with himself to gain strength and control. He's not foolish or insane enough to be concerned about the dangers of that fucking deadly Fentanyl. We fell into silence because of the shocking details. "A different one," he added.
"What exactly do you mean?" Mr. Shione inquired, his voice puzzled. The mood was becoming increasingly charged. I couldn't say that I blamed them. It was all new information, and we didn't know what the implications would be.
"We are unable to name it because we have witnessed the entirety of his life. He's going to pass away. The Fentanyl that is pumped into his body slowly kills him. We are unable to identify the medicine. We attempted to test it by drawing blood from him while he was sleeping," he sighed deeply, as if he were holding a weighty piece of information. "We were attempting it with a living being. Following that, more information was provided. We saw the animal resting sweetly, but it was also dying in agony," It was too much for me. Mr. Shon would perish. Was that all there was to it? Nonetheless, it made me uncomfortable. I had a feeling this wasn't the end; a second wave was on its way to find us. I couldn't take it any longer, so I spoke up, which drew their attention to me.
"Can you tell me who Mr. NO is?" I posed a serious query in my tone. I was upset again for no apparent reason. What was the source of this craziness?
"How did you come to know him?" Mr. Shione responded with a question. Shawn's hand was on my shoulder, and I could feel his mind asking the same thing. I just shrugged.
"I was reading it out loud from a book. It also implies that Mr. Shon has been indoctrinated by Mr. NO, and that your father has murdered his own father," In unison, Nathalie and Kimeniah gulped. But the most startling thing was Shawn's lack of response. It seemed he was already aware. Mr. Shione and I exchanged stares until he nodded.
"You are correct. However, there is no novel. What are you talking about, exactly?" Even I was taken aback. Was there no book where the data was kept? I immediately looked to Kimeniah, who simply shrugged and said she didn't know anything about it. I felt a stare and didn't hesitate to turn around to see who it was. It was the person who had previously provided the information. We locked gazes, and his eyes screamed threat, but that was expected.
"Nisha," when Shawn called my name, I turned aside. My entire system was perplexed. "Could you please tell us about the book?" Shawn asked. I merely nodded and took a long breath. I wasn't going to mention my father's name since I knew he was meticulously arranging everything.
They all knew about it since I informed them. I told them how it all started and how it all ended. They merely sat there perplexed as they listened to what I stated gently.
"It's impossible," Mr. Shione replied to me.
But the details seemed correct, and yet he told me there wasn't a book on the subject. What was the source of the book? Was Daddy Truce a prisoner? I was at a loss for what to do. Everything had been perplexing, and I wasn't sure what to prioritize.
"It's all starting to make sense now. We all know what Grandpa is planning. He'll do it by any means necessary. However, it isn't right to divulge his past. Why would he make what he did and his relationship with Mr. NO public? The skilled scientist remains a mystery among the rest. He just has a single past. He resides in Bytrans City, which is a distinct area," Shawn was the one who responded. So it's possible that I'm correct. He has been working on something since he brainwashed Mr. Shon. Everything has been meticulously planned from the start. Mr. Shon was told to assassinate his own father so that he could begin his evil conspiracy, which started with Mr. Shon. Mr. Shon, on the other hand, had no idea that Mr. NO was only using him. Therefore, the one who assisted him in getting up could be overturned. If I'm not mistaken, Mr. NO is the brains behind the new company. If he's not, then who could it be?
As we left the meeting room, the weight of the situation still hung heavily on our minds. Mr. Shione's advice to take some time to think before making decisions made sense. With our lives at stake, it was crucial to make wise and calculated choices rather than acting impulsively.
Shawn, understanding the importance of being prepared, made sure to emphasize the need for the females to be well-trained in self-defense. This showed his concern for our safety and the recognition that everyone needed to be equipped to protect themselves in this dangerous situation.
As the meeting concluded, Mr. Shione excused himself, stating that he had more work to attend to. It was evident that he was taking the situation very seriously and was actively working towards a solution to keep us all safe.
Shawn then invited us to leave the room, and though I was exhausted from the events of the day, I followed him without objection, as did the others.
Unexpectedly, Nathalie informed us that her parents had found out about the dangerous situation and intended to be there to assist us. This news was both surprising and comforting, as I knew her parents had reasons to be angry with Mr. Shon but were still willing to stand with us and support our cause.
Shawn welcomed the assistance with enthusiasm and emphasized the need to start training the next day. He understood that we couldn't afford to waste any time speculating about when the battle might occur, as it was impossible to predict precisely when we would face the danger posed by the Peur Organization.
With a plan in motion and support from unexpected quarters, we now had a glimmer of hope amidst the uncertainty and danger that surrounded us. As we headed into the next day, I braced myself for the challenges ahead and the rigorous training that awaited us all.
They left me with Kimeniah for a bit because they still had something to do when I returned to my room. As I value my privacy, I refrained from inquiring further. Meanwhile, my birthday was nearing, and time continued to pass by.
"Is it possible, Ate, that Dad was working on something? That novel was also unknown to me. Everything I do is in response to what he says. It was given to me by a man, and then I received a text from Dad telling me what to do," Kimeniah said, her confusion mirroring my own.
"Let's set aside these thoughts for now. We should get some rest. Come sleep with me here," I suggested. Kimeniah obliged, and we both lay down to rest. Exhaustion took over, and I soon drifted off to sleep, not realizing how tired I truly was.
-
"Nisha,"
The familiar voice jolted me awake. The implication in his tone was clear - he wanted me to go out and have a discussion. Careful not to disturb Kimeniah, I gently stood up. The source of the voice remained a mystery to me. However, the commotion outside drew my attention to the fact that there were people in that abandoned house nearby.
Trying not to arouse suspicion, I went about my usual routine while following the voice's guidance. Despite my efforts, I couldn't pinpoint his exact location. However, I could feel his pulse, a sensation amplified by the effects of the Fentanyl coursing through my veins. Even the slightest noise from insects was now plainly audible to me.
Moving cautiously, I proceeded towards the voice, prepared to scream if necessary. But suddenly, before I could react, my mouth was covered, and I was forcefully pulled backward.
After a momentary halt, he released his grip on me. We now found ourselves in the middle of a tranquil forest. I turned around to face my captor, and there, before me, stood someone familiar, a presence that greeted me with recognition.
"Daddy Truce..."
