Fated is overrated

Chapter 140

Zeke POV

My eyes instinctively fall on Lola when we arrive. Despite having decided we are going to give her what she wants, I can't help but be drawn to her until the bond is broken. And perhaps even after, who knows. I notice she is fixating on something and, following her line of sight, I see the same dragon from at the club yesterday.

He is glaring back at her and I can't help the growl reverberating through my chest. Even when she won't be our mate anymore, I will always try to protect her against harm. Not that she needs me to, but still. And this dragon is looking at her like he is going to murder her. Zane is on edge as well. 'Who is that prick?' he links me. 'I don't know, but he was arguing with her at the club yesterday as well.

Zane only growls in response, and I focus my attention back to Lola. Her smirk has morphed into a serious expression and I see her eyes glaze over. Is she mind linking him? What would she be saying?

My attention is pulled back to the dragon when I hear some commotion from the people around him. He is hunched over, clutching his chest and panting hard. The sight of him is all too familiar, and I immediately piece together what just happened. 'He was her dragon mate. She just rejected him' I link Zane. But I can imagine he has pieced it together already as well.

I look over to Lola who is still standing tall, her chin jutted out defiantly. If she is in any pain, she isn't showing it. I sigh to myself, once again cursing myself for ruining what could have been.

With the most perfect Queen we could have ever imagined. I genuinely hope she finds happiness again one day, with a man worthy of her. Someone like Nick.

The dragon has recomposed himself somewhat and is now standing up, looking at her with murderous intent. He is visibly struggling to keep his dragon under control, his hands are trying to morph into talons and his eyes are flickering profusely. If he shifts in an area as crowded as this, a lot of people will get hurt.

But his dragon, or maybe him as well, doesn't seem to care. His eyes stop flickering and settle on black, as he is about to shift into his dragon. "EVERYONE MOVE!" Lola bellows.Stop reading the wrong and incomplete storyline, j o b ni b.c om has the correct and complete book. Some people are attempting to flee, but many are either too late or rooted to the spot. Then, all of a sudden, the people surrounding the shifting dragon are blown across the field, away from him.

Their landing isn't exactly soft, but they will live. 'Protect mate!' Lex exclaims and I immediately shift to my Lycan form, dashing towards her, with Zane and Lance by our side. I am running as fast as my paws can carry, when I suddenly slam into what feels like a wall. F*ck this hurts, everything hurts. We stand back up, swaying and dazed, trying to get to Lola.

But there is an invisible force, sort of a wall blocking us. I stare at the scene in front of me and although I have trouble seeing straight, there is a massive dragon standing in front of Lola. The dragon is bigger than hers and I think also bigger than Damon's. Fear grips my heart and I try walking around the force to find my way in, but to no avail. I watch the scene in front of me in absolute horror. Lola POV

The f*cking prick just shifted in the middle of the party, risking countless innocent lives. Not to mention his precious bimbo, who was right beside him before I blasted them all out of the way.

I have no time to check if they are ok from my blast, I have to focus on the massive dragon in front of me. He is about as big as my father's dragon.

But, bigger doesn't mean better. Nor stronger. I'll show this pup what's what. 'Not so tough are you now, without your dragon?' he taunts in a mocking voice. Ah, now I get it. He waited for Justice to be so hurt she would retreat, so he could hurt me, thinking I would be weak without her.

I am weaker without her for sure, but not weak enough to admit defeat. 'Afraid you couldn't win, so you had to bully Justice into retreating?

Pathetic piece of sh*t. No worries pup, Liberty will eat you up and spit you out like a f*cking wasp' I link back before shifting to Liberty. Liberty snarls with reckless abandon, standing taller than ever before and baring her teeth viciously. Saliva is dripping from her mouth.

Liberty is definitely sharing the same sentiment I am, this f*cker hurt our Justice, and now he will pay. I am hiding my other abilities still, I don't want to show my cards just yet.

He laughs mockingly, probably thinking he can squash us like a bug without Justice here. And normally, any dragon facing a Lycan would be a slam dunk indeed. He sprays fire at me, and I dash out of the way before it can come anywhere near me. I circle him quickly as I am much faster than him in this form.

But before I can lunge at him, he is spraying fire my way again. I have to admit the f*cker is ferocious. Fighting him is tougher than fighting Damon, but perhaps that is because Damon is holding himself back to a certain degree.

He is raining balls of fire all around me, I try to dodge as many as I can but some still hit me and Liberty snarls at the impact 'this f*cker is pissing me off'. The anger drives me to go faster.

I bite down on his tail, almost chipping a tooth, and lunge him towards the tree line. Before he can hit the tree, he crashed into some sort of an invisible wall it seems like. He drops to the floor dazed, shaking his head when attempting to get back up again.
