Fated is overrated

Chapter 121

Lola POV

Although he has the advantage that she hasn't fought anyone yet. "I wish I could fight someone I wouldn't mind hurting, like Mr. steroids" I mutter to Damon, while he laughs in return, immediately understanding who I am referring to. "We could always ask him?" he teases. I grin in response, shaking my head. "Ok let's go!" and with that, we both strip fast, and immediately shift into our dragon forms. I would feel a bit awkward to be next to my brother naked, even though it is very normal as a wolf or dragon. Justice and Dymo, my brother's dragon, close the distance and start sniffing each other.

It's weird to see dragons bond like that, it looks a lot like how wolves do it actually. The only difference being that Justice isn't sniffing his b**t. After a few minutes Damon sounds in my head 'ok let's go!'. And with that, Dymo flies up into the sky and wastes no time shooting his dragon fire at us.

We weren't fast enough to dodge it completely, and get hit in the left wing. Although it won't be critical damage, it still hurts like a b*tch. Justice roars, before asking me 'are we still holding back?!', to which I reply 'nah, let's go baby girl!'

We shoot up into the sky, hovering a little above Dymo. Dymo tries to hit us again, but this time we manage to dodge the attack. I have to admit, moving with this massive form is not easy and I am immediately familiar with a dragon's weakness now - speed. It isn't a weakness against other species, as a dragon is super strong and the skin is nearly impenetrable, but against another dragon it definitely makes a difference.

And witches and warlocks are a dragon's natural enemies. They don't need to penetrate our skin, and they are at least faster than dragons. Dymo keeps launching attack after attack at us.

We, on the other hand, have not used any ice thus far. Ice is so dangerous to dragons, it's like their kryptonite, and I can't risk injuring Damon and Dymo permanently.

I will save that for the real enemies and focus on our speed, agility and other forms of attack right now. I mean, we do have giant fangs... And, I like to be creative in my attacks.

And with that thought, Justice and I shoot up to Dymo's tail and clasp down on it. Unlike when Liberty did so, we can easily penetrate the skin now and we have to be careful not to chomp it off.

Dymo whimpers in pain and we immediately let him go. He recomposes instantly and shoots a ray of fire towards us, which we only just manage to dodge. I notice he is very reliant on his fire for attacking and doesn't use anything else.

It is something I will bring to his attention after training. 'Do you think we could grab him with our tail?' I ask Justice. 'I have no idea. Let's try!' she replies excitedly, happy to finally be fighting in her form.

We shoot up above Dymo and wrap our tail around his waist, before slamming him towards the ground. He wasn't expecting the move and is caught off guard, as he almost slams into the ground. He only just manages to avoid the ground, before flying up towards us again. Again he shoots several balls of fire towards us in quick succession, everything around me is becoming an ocean of fireballs. Several balls hit us this time, and Justice flinches with each hit. 'Focus!' I remind both Justice and myself, before bolting towards him and wrapping our tail around his throat this time.

That seems to be more effective than trying to throw a flying dragon into the ground, as he is thrashing wildly and gasping for breath. He is doing everything he can to throw us off, but to no avail.

In a last ditch attempt he tries to drop us both to the ground, with himself landing on top of us. But we don't even get close to the ground as Justice and I are able to hold him in the air. It takes a lot of energy and we are descending slightly, but we won't reach the ground until he is unconscious if he doesn't tap out.

His thrashing slows down and he becomes more docile in our grip, before he sounds in my mind 'we surrender. And we loosen our grip so he can breathe again, before descending to the ground to let him down softly.'

Let's call it a day, we feel a bit woozy'. Justice and I feel guilty for being the reason he is having to call it a day already, but he did say we could go all out, right? And we didn't use ice even.

We both shift back and throw our clothes back on. When I turn back around Damon has just pulled his shirt over his head, and he turns around to give me a halfhearted smile and says "well that was embarrassing. I have been a dragon all my life...", while running his hand through the nape of his neck.

I smile sympathetically "I'm sorry brother..". He sighs and drops his gaze to the floor, before replying "the most embarrassing part is, I know you weren't even going all out as you haven't even used ice on me". I hate to see him disappointed like this.

And honestly, I don't know how the hell we beat him. I just did what came to mind, without wanting to actually harm him. I walk over to him and embrace him in a tight hug. "I didn't mean to upset you bro, I am so sorry. Please don't feel bad! Even though I didn't have my dragon for all my life, I have been fighting and training all my life.

I learned to be creative when I had to train to fight wolves in my human form, without additional wolf strength. And if it makes you feel any better - I butchered Zeke and Zane in human combat. Zeke even shifted, and still lost to me in human form". He hugs me back tightly, placing his hand on my head affectionately.

"You are only allowed to feel bad about yourself when I am in human form and you lose to me in your dragon form, OK?" I chuckle. He chuckles with me and pulls away to look at my face. He has tears brimming in the corner of his eyes and it tugs at my heart.
