Chapter 9

Ella was led to her new room, her feet sinking into the plush white carpet. She entered the spacious sanctuary and was taken aback by the familiar sight of her favorite color, lavender and cream. She had always been in love with these colors, and she simply couldn’t help but adore them too.

“Wow, this is just amazing,” she exclaimed, her eyes scanning the room as she lightly touched the wall. “Welcome, miss,” one of the staff members said with a huge smile. “We’re so glad you like it.”

As she explored her new quarters, she was greeted by the friendly faces of the staff, who were busy unpacking her belongings and arranging her new wardrobe. Ella couldn’t help but feel extreme nostalgia as she watched them work, remembering the countless times she had entered this mansion and met them before.

Just then, she saw a familiar middle-aged lady, and she couldn’t help but exclaim loudly, “Maria, oh my goodness, it’s so great to see you!”

Maria smiled warmly and whispered, “Shh, miss, not so loud. The boss, Evan, doesn’t know I’m here. I just wanted to come and say hello and make sure you’re settling in okay.”

Ella nodded her head, looking around in wonder. “It’s so great to see you, Maria. It feels like I’ve been transported five years back.”

As she spoke, her eyes wandered to the walk-in closet, where rows of expensive brands were already lined up. Designer dresses, luxurious shoes, and accessories sparkled in the soft light, making her feel like a princess.

“This is too much,” Ella said, her voice filled with amazement. “Did Evan order all of this?”

Maria smiled warmly. “Yes, he did. And you deserve it all. You’re going to be a wonderful mother to the

child.”

Just then, John and another staff member tiptoed into the room, looking excited. “Hey, Ella! Welcome back!” John said, his voice barely above a whisper. “We’ve got everything ready for you, just like the boss instructed.”

“I’m so glad that you’re back here in the mansion,” John said, smiling warmly.

“Hello, John!” Ella exclaimed, notoriously hugging the old man, feeling a sense of belonging in the mansion already. Thanks, John. It’s so good to be back here. I’m glad to see that you guys are working here. I’m so glad about it.”

Ella couldn’t help but feel grateful for all the kindness and support she was getting from the staff members. She had a very positive feeling about what was going to happen ahead.

“Maria, the colors combinations are incredible for me, Ella said, her eyes shining with excitement. “How did you guys even know my taste so well? And in such a short span, how did you even manage to paint? It’s been just one hour!”

John smiled, with a hint of nostalgia in his eyes. “We’ve been preparing for your return for a while now, Ella. We wanted to make sure everything was perfect for you.”

“To tell you the truth, this room was actually decorated about 5 years ago, keeping you in mind and your taste,” John said, his eyes sparkling with warmth.

Ella’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. “5 years ago? How did you guys know that I would end up here one day?”

John’s expression turned a little solemn. “Let’s just say that the boss had hope for his relationship with you, and he wanted to create a special space for you in this mansion that would make you feel loved and cherished. Everything that is decorated is as per your taste, and it’s all 5 years

old.

Ella’s heart skipped a beat as she gazed around the room, taking in all the beautiful artifacts that seemed to match her taste perfectly. The beautiful white-colored artifacts, gold-made paintings, and wooden

furnishings all seemed to align with her preferences, leaving her in awe.

“But what about after the breakup? Why didn’t he change anything?” Ella asked, her voice laced with

confusion.

Maria’s voice was barely above a whisper. “I think the boss never wanted to touch anything in here. He put his heart and soul into this place. All he had was displaced too, to remember you fondly. Maybe he hoped that one day you would be back in this room? Who knows?”

Ella felt a lump form in her throat as she absorbed their words. She was actually moved by Evan’s gesture, and she looked around at each and every intricate detail of the room that everyone had put into creating the space for her, despite their complicated history. She couldn’t deny the sentimental value of

this room.

“If he loved me so much, why did he cheat on me with Sophia?” Ella thought to herself, her eyes fixed on a beautiful photo frame of her with Evan and his parents. This was the day when they had gone out for a picnic on a sunny winter morning. The memories came flooding back, and Ella’s heart ached with a mix of emotions.

She thought of her own parents in the same city, far away, whom she had cut ties with. She felt a shiver run down her spine, not from nostalgia or longing, but from fear. Ella was scared of her own family, and the warmth and kindness of Evan’s family and the staff only highlighted the darkness she had left behind. She was thankful for this new care, this new family that had taken her in and shown her love and kindness. The staff’s thoughtfulness and Evan’s family’s warmth were a balm to her soul, and she felt grateful to be in their care. It was a stark contrast to the fear and uncertainty she had felt with her own family, and Ella’s heart swelled with appreciation for this new chapter in her life.
