Ella sobbed uncontrollably, unable to get over the fact that Evan

had called her shallow. “I can’t believe this,” she thought. “He cheats on me and then blames me? I had a boyfriend, but why can’t I have one after he cheated on me? That’s it, I’ve had enough!”

She instantly got up from the bed and started packing her bags. She placed a few clothes in her wide brown bag and made up her mind to leave. As she turned around, Teresa entered the room with a concerned look on her face.

“Are you leaving?” Teresa asked, her voice filled with emotion.

“Yes,” Ella replied, her voice firm. “He’s not the man I dated anymore. He cheated on me before, and now he’s rude and arrogant. He doesn’t even know what to say or what not to say.”

Teresa held Ella’s hand, begging her to stay. “Please don’t go, she said. “You’re the only hope he has. You’re running away from the relationship instead of facing it.”

Ella looked into Teresa’s eyes, tears streaming down her face. “I can’t stay here, Teresa. I can’t live like this, constantly fighting and hurting. He abuses me so much, it’s affecting my health.”

Teresa nodded, trying to understand Ella’s situation. I know things have been tough, and I was there when you both were fighting. But please hear me out. Evan has been in therapy since the breakup and after the loss of his parents. His anger has become unbearable, and he has no control over his words and emotions. But he’s been struggling to cope with his feelings and come to terms with everything. He literally has nobody in his life. The only people he cared about were his parents, you and Stephen.” “Therapy?” Ella raised an eyebrow in disbelief. “He’s undergoing therapy?”

Teresa gave a gentle smile. “Yes, he’s really trying to work through his issues and become a better person. Please give him a chance to prove that to you.”

Ella hesitated, her mind extremely confused. “But what about all the hurtful things he said? He treats me so badly and belittles me. Just because I’m living under his roof doesn’t mean I need him. I can take care of this child on my own.”

Teresa’s expression turned serious. “I’m sure Evan knows what he said was wrong. I’m sure he’s discussing it with his therapist right now. He’ll be willing to do whatever it takes to make it right. He’s working on his anger issues, but please give him some time. I know his communication skills are bad, but if you leave, there’s no hope for him. He really wants someone in his life, and you’re the only one who can understand him.”

Just then, Evan entered the room, his eyes red as if he had been crying. Tm sorry,” he said, his voice cracking with emotion. “I promise I won’t hurt you. I know you’re not dependent on me, and I’m only keeping you here because I want to be close to my child. I will never trouble you again.”

Tears dropped from his eyes, and he quickly walked away, trying to hide them. Ella’s heart melted instantly as she looked at his face, and she let out a deep sigh. She looked at Teresa, nodding her head. “I really want to believe him, but it’s going to take time and effort from his side as well.”

Teresa understood. “I’m sure he will do whatever it takes. He’ll go to therapy and be more supportive. Just please don’t leave.”

Ella sat down on the bed, looking at Teresa. “I’ll stay for now, but I need to see action, not just words.” “My understanding is that we’re parents now, and we need to overcome all the issues together. I know the drama he must have faced; I kind of understand how it feels to lose parents.” Ella’s mind drifted back to the scene where she was crying beside her mother’s dead body.

Teresa smiled. “Thank you so much, Ella. I love you. It really means a lot to all of us. You have no idea that Evan has never cooked in the past 5 years. He never had a girlfriend, never really had a friend. Perhaps you were the only one with whom he tried to cook, which, of course, he failed miserably.” Teresa chuckled. “But for once today, we actually saw our boss trying to be normal. And if you stay here. I’m

sure this relationship will work.”

Ella raised her eyebrows in surprise. “He never had a girlfriend? Why? 5 years is a very long time.”

“I know, but maybe he could never get over you, Teresa said. “Maybe that’s why he’s so hurt. Even today, several girls want to woo him, and they try to get in contact with him, but Evan never really talks to anyone. Madam Maria keeps dropping by to help him and tries to befriend him, but he’s really adamant. I think she wants to marry him, but he never gave her any hope.”

“Maria? Who is this girl?” Ella asked, confusion and jealousy surging through her heart.

Teresa’s eyes widened in surprise at Ella’s reaction. “Oh, Maria is just a colleague of Evan’s. She’s been trying to help him with his therapy and stuff. I didn’t mean to upset you, Ella.”

Ella’s face flushed as she tried to compose herself. I’m fine, Teresa. It’s just…I didn’t know there were other women in his life.

Teresa’s expression softened. “Ella, there’s no one in Evan’s life except you and his son. Maria is just a friend, I promise. He’s never shown any interest in her romantically.”

Ella nodded, feeling a mix of relief and guilt. She realized her jealousy was unfounded, but it also revealed her true feelings for Evan. She was still a little possessive about Evan.
