Falling For The Contract Bride

Falling For The Contract Bride Chapter 74

Chapter 74 Egregious Yet Real
Mu Zhi woke up to a vibrant morning sunray. She jumped to her seat and realized that Lu Jinye had disappeared.
Sitting on the bedside table was fresh, new clothes.
Mu Zhi held them against herself and they were just the right size. She promptly changed into them and dashed into the
bathroom to wash up.
Afterward, she left Lu Jinye’s villa spontaneously, preparing to set off to work.
However, she had just stepped into the yard after closing the door when she noticed a stealthy figure flash before her eyes.
Before she could come to her senses, the person splashed a pot of green, slimy liquid at her face.
She was left in despair.
Hurriedly mopping the green something off her face, she rebuked, “Are you out of your mind?!”
“How do you like it? If you keep pushing it, it won’t be vegetable juice next time!”
Mu Zhi scowled as she looked at Xia Shaner, who was behaving arrogantly, as though standing on the moral high ground. It was
difficult to comprehend.
“What have I done?”
“What have you done? Aren’t you clear with what you’ve done?”
Xia Shaner scoffed, “After hooking up with Lu Junnian, how do you have the audacity to stay at Jinye’s villa?”
Mu Zhi stared at Xia Shaner and felt she was hilarious.
“Me hooking up with Lu Junnian? Even if it’s true, Miss Xia Shaner, who are you to judge me? May I know what’s your
relationship is with Jinye? Oh... I remember you are just one of the nobodies who Jinye abandoned.”
Mu Zhi intentionally took on an enigmatic tone to jeer at her.
Xia Shaner could feel her blood boiling in anger. She could only stomp on the ground.

“So what?!”
Struggling to articulate an argument, that was all Xia Shaner could say.
Mu Zhi chuckled lightly, “Nothing, just letting you know that you shouldn’t do things like this in the future. You’re in no place to.”
“Even if you’re speaking up for Lu Jinye, it’s pointless, he won’t thank you.”
Finishing what she had to say, Mu Zhi planned to turn around, reenter the villa with hopes to find other clothes.
However, she was surprised that Xia Shaner did not relent.
Xia Shaner charged at Mu Zhi and seized her shirt.
Mu Zhi tried to shake her away but to no avail. Failing to free herself after a series of struggles, Mu Zhi could only let Xia Shaner
lug her around.
Xia Shaner started behaving like a psycho. She sprung her hand backward, intending to beat Mu Zhi.
But Mu Zhi was not someone to be trifled with. There was no way she would allow Xia Shaner to beat her without a good reason.
She reached out to clasp Xia Shaner’s collar.
While scuffling, Xia Shaner accidentally tripped on a rock and stumbled to the ground.
She seized Mu Zhi and brought Mu Zhi down with her.
Lu Jinye left to buy breakfast. He was stunned by the scene when he was preparing to park the car in the yard.
In this instance, Mu Zhi had freed herself from underneath Xia Shaner. She pinned Xia Shaner on the ground, pulling her hair
ferociously.
Lu Jinye hurriedly left the car as he witnessed everything that was happening.
He scowled as things continued to unfold. Mu Zhi did not notice his presence while Xia Shaner saw him first.
Her face was bruised all over at this point. Seeing Lu Jinye, Xia Shaner first stunned briefly and broke into tears.
Besides, she scurried in his direction, “Jinye, I... I’m just mad at her for hooking up with another man. I only came to tell her off,
b-but... She hit me.”

Lu Jinye maintained an apathetic front. He was not bothered by Xia Shaner at all as he gave the property manager a call. It did
not take long for security guards to arrive.
Mu Zhi observed Lu Jinye’s reaction from the beginning. She concluded by his facial expression that he was not in the right
mood at all.
Normally when he was in such a mood, someone was bound to get into trouble.
While Xia Shaner continued to weep at the side.
When the guards arrived at the scene, Lu Jinye rebuked with a scowl, “What has happened to the security of this suburb? How
did these random people manage to get in?”
The guards had their eyes on Xia Shaner, not daring to say a word.
Lu Jinye had lost his patience. He waggled his hand, “Take her away.”
After this, he walked up to Mu Zhi, grabbed her hand, and headed into the house.
Mu Zhi kept her head down throughout. The vegetable juice was still dripping down her forehead. The ground of Lu Jinye’s yard
was made up of pebbles. Rolling on the ground during the scuffle, she got multiple graze wounds on her face.
She was too embarrassed to lift her head up.
She gave in and allowed Lu Jinye to bring her in.
When they got to the room, Lu Jinye pointed at the bathroom, gesturing for Mu Zhi to take a shower.
Mu Zhi hurriedly obliged.
After a shower, she stood before the mirror to examine her wounds. What a tragedy. Upon a closer look, she found some shallow
grazes on her forehead and arms, which were less serious than Xia Shaner’s.
However, it was soring to the eyes.
She hesitated, then put on a shirt and left the bathroom.
Just as she had anticipated, Lu Jinye was currently waiting at the door.

Mu Zhi walked up to Lu Jinye. She thought about explaining to him but did not know where to start.
But Lu Jinye asked, “Does it still hurt?”
“It’s alright.”
Mu Zhi understood that Lu Jinye was referring to the condition of her wounds.
In the end, Lu Jinye held his hand in her face, “Come here, let me apply some ointment for you.”
Mu Zhi hesitated before moving closer to him. She tried to grab the ointment from Lu Jinye’s hand, “I’m a doctor, let me do it
myself.”
Lu Jinye refused her. He gently pushed her hand away, “Don’t move.”
His words, albeit not overbearing, made her involuntarily succumb to him.
Thus, Mu Zhi did not move a finger.
Lu Jinye was meticulous while applying the ointment. Despite the stinging sensation during disinfection, Mu Zhi could tell that he
was putting all efforts to reduce her pain.
As a result, the pain was not as huge as she would normally experience.
Amid disinfection, Lu Jinye said...
“Is there anything else about you that I don’t know about?”
Mu Zhi’s decision making over every incident was unbelievable to Lu Jinye.
Fighting someone...
A relationship with Lu Junnian...
Her talents in medicine...
All of these started to surface only after their divorce.
And he was unaware of any one of those in the past.

The Mu Zhi he knew was a completely different person. She was obsequious, hungry for money, eager to please him, a good
partner in bed, and a great helper at work. She would always keep her temper under control.
But... The Mu Zhi now engaged in a fight, was involved in a scandal, and even bore a child...
These were egregious, yet felt so real.
