Falling For His Unwanted Wife by Miss Cloe

Chapter 24

Chapter 24

Alaric’s POV

I couldn’t handle it. The idea of my wife pleading with another man for help, it just made me so angry.

I remained still when Loki made a move towards Farren before. But this time, I don’t. think I can just stand by and do nothing.

So,

I approached them and grabbed the man’s arm. “Let go of her,” I commanded.

Farren and the man turned to look at me. It was only then that I recognized who the man was. He was the guy Farren was with at the café. Her friend’s brother who had lent her a car.

I clenched my teeth and demanded that he release her.

“I said, let go of her.”

“And why should I listen to you?” the man questioned me.

His eyes widened and his grip on Farren’s arm began to loosen. I hoped that he would take the hint and leave us alone, but to my surprise, he posed another question. “If you are her husband, why did you let her get into this state?”

I glanced at Farren’s current condition. Her face was flushed and she was struggling to breathe. She couldn’t even meet my gaze and her b*dy swayed unsteadily.

“What the hell did her father do to her?’ I thought, my fists clenching as I imagined all the terrible things I could do to Farren’s stepfamily in the future.

“If you truly care about your wife, you shouldn’t have allowed her to end up like this!” the man shouted.

I glared at him, giving him a stern warning. “A stranger like you has no right to ask me that question. By the way, who are you?”

He flinched at my question, unable to provide a response. He simply lowered his head, avoiding eye contact.

“Tell me, I pressed on, “what is your relationship with my wife?”

He remained silent, his head still lowered in shame.

In the midst of the quietness, I could hear Farren’s desperate pleas.

“Can we please address this later? I’m in desperate need of help,” Farren pleaded.

Both of us turned our attention to Farren, who appeared to be struggling with something difficult.

“Farren,” the man called out. “I’ll take you to the hospital. Let’s…”

I stepped in his path, blocking his way, and firmly stated, “I’ll take care of her. You can

continue on your way.”

The man glared at me, his gaze shifting between Farren and myself. He, however, remained resolute and refused to leave.

At that moment, Farren whispered, her voice trembling, “M-Max, thank you so much. But my husband is right. You can go.”

Max, the man, glanced at her and in an instant, his expression softened. He let out a sigh and said, “Alright. But if you ever need my help, just give me a call. Okay?”

“Yes, I will. T-Thank you,” Farren replied.

Max and I exchanged one final glare before he pivoted and departed, leaving us in solitude.

As soon as he vanished from sight, I turned my attention towards Farren, gripping her shoulders gently to assess her condition. Her b*dy quivered uncontrollably, causing my expression to contort into a scowl.

“What did your father do?” I inquired, my voice laced with concern.

“He planted drugs on my mother’s belongings,” she replied, her voice trembling. “And I felt an overwhelming sense of unease. Suddenly, her grip on my arm tightened. “I’ve never asked for your help before, Alaric. But. I beg you, just this once. Please, help me.”

I took a deep breath, feeling the air fill my lungs and then slowly release. My chest rose and fell as I tried to calm my racing thoughts. The situation was intense, and my mind. was racing with possibilities.

*It must be an aphrodisiac, I speculated, trying to make sense of what was happening.

Her father had threatened to force Farren into an affair, and now it seemed like she had taken some sort of aphrodisiac that was causing her to approach any man she came across. The thought sent a shiver down my spine.

‘Go dda mnit. What would have happened if I had been late?’ I wondered.

Could she have found another man and engaged in something she would regret? The thought made my stomach churn.

“Or… or…” Farren’s words stumbled as she tried to speak. “If you can’t help me… can you at least carry my mother’s belongings? We need to go to the hospital…”

Before she could finish her sentence, she let out a cry of pain and collapsed into my arms. “Ahhh!”

I held onto her tightly, calling out her name in concern. “Farren!”

“It’s strange! It felt so hot,” she moaned, struggling to catch her breath.

As I looked at her palms, I noticed a white powder, which I suspected to be the drug that was causing her strange behavior.

I knew that in order for her to survive this ordeal, there was one thing I needed to do.

“Alaric,” her voice called out to me, piercing through the chaos of my thoughts.

In that moment, my rationality vanished, consumed by an overwhelming desire.

“Come closer, I whispered, my hands instinctively finding their place around her waist, drawing her towards me.

With gentle force, I lifted her chin, guiding her gaze to meet mine, and our l*ps collided.

I dared to explore, parting my mouth and intertwining my tongue with hers.

Farren’s b*dy tensed, as if taken aback by the intensity of our connection. Yet, she clung onto me, not pushing me away.

I was fully aware that by succumbing to this desire, I was breaking the very rule I had set for myself.

But dam n that rule. I was willing to cross that line, to risk it all for her.
