Chapter 13
Alaric’s POV
“What did you just say?” I demanded my secretary to repeat his words.
“I have received information that your wife contacted the police to report that she was being followed and that her car was vandalized,” Alejandro repeated.
I was taken aback.
Over the past few days, my wife had been unusually quiet. Our last conversation was interrupted by a phone call from an unknown person. Although I didn’t know who it was, I couldn’t help but feel disturbed by the fact that the caller had a heart emoticon next to their name in Farren’s contacts.
Since then, our paths haven’t crossed. I was engrossed in my work, and she would come home very late.
Ma’am Farren must be extremely frightened at this moment. Who would be crazy enough to vandalize someone’s car? Goodness,” Alejandro remarked, shaking his head. Then, he turned his gaze towards me, conveying a deeper meaning.
“What?” I inquired.
He leaned in closer and uttered, “I mean, your wife could be in danger. Aren’t you concerned about her, Sir?”
I pretended to cough and rose from my seat. Then, I retrieved my suit.
you off to, Sir?” Alejandro inquired.
“Where are you
I put on my suit and glanced at my wristwatch. “I am going to pick up Farren from her workplace.”
“Is it because you’re worried about her?” Alejandro questioned..
At Alejandro’s query, my feet halted.
Then, I began to ponder the same question myself.
Am I genuinely concerned enough about her to interrupt my work and yearn to see her as soon as possible?
Unable to admit the truth, I made up a lie. “My grandfather will kill me if something

bad happens to my wife,” I said as I exited my office.
But deep down, I knew the real reason behind my concern. I was genuinely worried about her, and it frustrated me that she hadn’t confided in me about it.
“Haa. You are really something, Farren,” I murmured.
On my way to her workplace, I pondered why I was feeling like this toward the wife whom I decided to get divorced after a year.
Could it be because I saw her potential?” I pondered aloud.
Initially, I viewed her as weak and resented her for blindly following her grandfather’s wishes to marry me.
So, I made the choice to marry her solely to secure my inheritance. After that, we would
go our separate ways.
But then, she showed me many things that I couldn’t stop wondering about who she really is.
She has a strong will. A woman who knows how to have fun. She can dance well. She’s loyal to her promise. She’s a good cook, too.
I feel like seeing a talented person who I wanted to scout right away.
“That’s it? Am I really just mesmerized by her potential?”
Unable to get an answer, I parked my car in the underground parking lot of my wife’s workplace.
As I made my way towards the elevator, a sudden and piercing car alarm broke the silence.
Wee woo. Wee woo.
Accompanying the blaring noise, I could hear grunts and shouts echoing through the air. My eyes widened, and my heart skipped a beat. The ominous feeling compelled me to follow the commotion. However, what I encountered next left me utterly astonished.
I witnessed my wife, Farren, delivering a powerful punch to a man’s face!
I was left in awe, unable to utter a word or make a single movement as I observed her
next move.

My jaw practically hit the floor as I beheld this extraordinary scene. It felt like something straight out of a blockbuster movie. Who would have ever imagined that my wife possessed such formidable martial arts skills?
Completely taken aback, I remained rooted to the spot as I watched Farren climb on top of the m
and seize his collar.
She shouted something, but the words were muffled by the chaos swirling in my mind.
The two of them engaged in a brief conversation before Farren finally stood
- up.
This time, her words reached my cars clearly as she sternly declared, “Stop your stalking. Consider this my final act of mercy, Eugene.”
Following her declaration, she gracefully made her way back into the building, leaving the man standing alone.
Observing the man, who had been persistently stalking my wife, a surge of anger coursed through me. My gaze locked onto the limping figure, and I approached him. with determination. Retrieving a handkerchief from my pocket, I swiftly wrapped it around my right hand, preparing for what was to come..
Emerging from the shadows, I firmly grasped the man’s shoulder, causing him to turn and face me.
“What…” Before he could utter another word, I swiftly delivered a powerful punch to his face, cutting off his sentence. “Ack!”
The force of the blow sent him sprawling to the ground, blood streaming from his

As he stared at the crimson liquid staining his hands, fear trembled through his b*dy. Raising his head to meet my gaze, he stammered, “W–Who the hell are you? W–Why are you doing this to me!?”
“I could ask you the same question,” I warned. “I demand to know why someone like you would dare to meddle with my wife.”.
“W–What?” he gasped, his head tilting slightly as he struggled to comprehend my words. In a sudden outburst, he exclaimed, “Are you Miss Farren’s husband?”
“Yes, indeed. I am the husband of the woman you dared to cross just moments ago. And

Without hesitation, I swiftly reached for my phone and dialed my secretary’s number.
“Alejandro, dispatch a team to my wife’s workplace immediately,” I commanded. Glancing down at the trembling figure before me, I added, “Someone needs to learn a lesson they won’t soon forget.”
