Chapter 57
"First of all, wipe that nonsense lipstick off your mouth," Rachel ordered Derek.
Derek hurried to his desk, grabbed a handful of tissue from the Kleenex box on his desk, and wiped his lips vigorously.
"So, what did she come here to do? To give you a quickie?" Rachel asked distastefully.
"No," replied Derek, coming to sit beside her on the couch. "She tried to convince me to kick you and Zoe out of the penthouse and restart my relationship with her." "That bitch!"
"I told her no, and that my heart is with you."
"And she still kissed you?"
"She did that to spite you. She was very mad just before you showed up, so she did that little stunt just to annoy you.
"Listen, Cassie doesn't mean anything to me anymore. I don't need her or any other woman in my life anymore. Not when I have you. Rachel. You are everything to me. I love you and I mean that in every way possible." Rachel felt her anger melting away as Derek spoke because she could hear the sincerity in his voice and it touched her deeply.
"I love you too, Derek, but I don't know if I can handle these sorts of upsetting surprises any longer,” she admitted.
"This is the second time I'm running into you and that woman in your private space. Is that something I'm going to have to deal with all the time throughout our relationship?"
"No. I promise you, Rachel, this is the last time you'll ever run into Cassie here. I will instruct my security team not to ever allow her into this building again."
"And the penthouse?"
"What about it?"
"She was there today. I came here as soon as she left."
Derek was gobsmacked. "She showed up at our place?"
She liked how he said 'our place' instead of 'my place,' and that softened her heart even more.
"Yes, she did and when I threatened to call security, she laughed in my face and told me they were the ones that let her in. Which means, they think she still has a right to be there."
"I'll notify them too and let them know that she's no longer welcome there," he assured her.
"Good," she said and got to her feet.
"Are you leaving?" Derek asked, sounding disappointed.
"Do you want me to leave?" she asked coyly.
"Absolutely not," he said, getting to his feet. "Let's go out and have lunch together."
"Aren't you worried that the paparazzi will see us together?"
A part of her wanted to confirm that what Cassie had said to her at the penthouse were lies and that Derek wasn't hiding her away from the public.
"What's my business with the paparazzi?" He scoffed. "We have Mark and Frank to toss away anyone who tries to get in our faces with their cameras. And you know what? I think today is a good time for me to show off my woman to the world. You are already dressed for the occasion as it is."
Rachel grinned. "Yeah?"
"Yeah," he said and kissed her.
"Actually, I had something else in mind when I came here," she said. "We should probably get that out of the way first before we head out for lunch."
"Ok..." he said expectantly.
She lifted her mini dress to show him that she wasn't wearing anything underneath. And then she sashayed to his desk and bent over it, exposing her private parts to him in a clear invitation.
"Hold that position," he said and ran to lock the door before hurrying back to her. He shrugged off his jacket, flung it away, and quickly undid his fly.
"This is the perfect appetizer served on a platter of gold," Derek chuckled while he rubbed himself against Rachel.
"Trust me, it tastes better than it looks," she giggled.
They made love ferociously like a pair of ravenous wild animals. When they were finally satisfied, they fixed their clothes and left the office for their lunch date. Diane was surprised to see the two of them smiling out of the office when only a few minutes ago, Rachel looked like she was about to murder Derek. "I'll be heading home after lunch," he said to Diane. "Cancel the rest of my meetings today and take the rest of the day off." "But - "
"Bye, Diane. You're welcome!" He said and led Rachel into the elevator.
"Today must be the strangest work day for Diane since she started working with you," said Rachel. "Her mouth was open the entire time."

Derek laughed. "Poor Diane."
"Did you confront her about spying on you?"
"No. What's the point? I know why she has been doing it and I'm not sure she'll have anything new to share with Yasmin anymore."
"Today's episode is definitely something worth sharing."
Derek chuckled. "Maybe."
"Have you thought about reaching out to Yasmin?"
"What for?"
"I don't know, just for the sake of it. Alfred already confirmed everything she told us, so that means she wasn't lying."
He sighed.
"Can you ever find it in your heart to forgive her?" Rachel asked softly.
Derek lifted an eyebrow. "For what?"
"For abandoning you," she replied.
He sighed again and looked away. When the elevator reached the first floor and swung open, he took her hand in his and led her out of it.
Cheryl was beaming like the sun when she saw them together and she waved at Rachel as they left.
"I think Cheryl is my number one fan here," she remarked as Frank and Mark escorted them to the parking lot.
"Nope. She's number two," said Derek.
"Who's number one?" Rachel asked.
"Me," he said with a grin and followed her into the white Bentley.
Their arrival at the restaurant was uneventful but after enjoying a gourmet Italian dish, they were accosted outside by dozens of camera flashes coming from the paparazzi as they left.
Rachel found the presence of the photographers to be intrusive but she knew that this was going to be the norm for her as long as she remained with Derek. When the valet brought their car, Rachel hurried inside and exhaled in relief.

"Are you ready to experience this madness every time we go out?" he asked when he joined her in the backseat.
"Do I have a choice?" She laughed.
"We could move to a remote island in the Caribbean and live there peacefully forever.
"What an exciting suggestion."
"We never got to complete our worldwide vacation," he mused.
"It was a year-long vacation, not worldwide," she corrected him.
"Let's make it both. How about that?"
"Let's discuss that after your birthday."
"Ah, yes. I completely forgot about that. Have you started planning it?"
"Yes. Taylor and Rob are helping me. Mostly Taylor, by the way."
Derek chuckled. "If I didn't know better, I'd think Taylor was your brother, not Rob. He would go to war for you."
"He's an amazing guy," she agreed, "I couldn't have asked for a better partner for Rob. They're so perfect together." "Just like us," said Derek.
Rachel grinned and leaned into him for a kiss. "Yes, just like us."
He pressed a button behind the driver's seat and a divider swished down, blocking the bodyguards from seeing them in the backseat. "Now, just what exactly are you up to, Derek Fraser?" Rachel asked with false surprise. "Are you trying to ravish me inside this car?" Derek laughed. "Guilty as charged. Now, tell me, how do you want it?"
Rachel leaned back on the seat and spread her legs wide apart for him. "Care for a second dessert?" she asked seductively.
"I would love nothing more," Derek replied thickly and buried his head between her legs.
