Chapter 49
When two hours passed and Derek hadn't returned from his maze exploration, Rachel became restless. Zoe was awake from her nap and playing with Elaine in their shared bedroom.
Meanwhile, Alfred had gone on an impromptu solo fishing trip at his lake. He said it was a relaxing activity he enjoyed doing when the weather was pleasant.
Rachel was left alone in the sittingroom. The only company she had was the domestic staff passing by now and then as they did their chores around the huge house. She knew this was a good time to explore parts of the house alone, but her mind kept going back to Derek.
What if he was lost in the maze and couldn't find his way back? What if he needed help and couldn't call them because he hadn't gone into the maze with his phone? What if he was having a panic attack and needed help recovering from it? The 'what if' questions continued to buzz around inside Rachel's head until she couldn't take them anymore. She walked out of the house and marched purposefully toward the maze.
If he got mad at her for intruding on his alone time, she would apologize to him but be happy to know that he was ok and not in danger. The bodyguards were living in the staff quarters on the property, but they were practically useless. Derek had told them that their services weren't needed here.
As soon as Rachel stepped into the maze, she wondered if she'd made a mistake. She hadn't bothered to ask Alfred for directions on how to get to the other side. If she and Derek got lost in different parts, how would they get out? "I should probably go back," she said aloud but kept walking forward.
Her mind would never be at rest if she didn't find Derek and confirm that he was ok. She was too much of a mother hen to not check on him.
When she got to a forked path, she wondered which one he would have taken. Rachel was surrounded by tall walls of greenery and more of them lay ahead. She couldn't figure out which path led to the other side of this beautiful jungle. She sighed and followed the right path, hoping that she wasn't walking toward a dead end. That would be super frustrating for her.
"Shit!" She cursed when she saw that the path led nowhere.
Rachel turned around and walked out of the green alley back to the junction where she had made her decision. She followed the left path and found herself encountering more and more dead ends until she was sure that she was just walking around in circles.
"This was supposed to be fun, but I'm just about ready to murder someone right now!" Rachel yelled, losing her temper.
"That makes two of us!" Derek yelled back from somewhere inside the maze.
Her heart did a happy flip when she heard his voice. "Derek! Where are you? Are you ok?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," he answered, sounding weary. "I've had enough time to stew and now I'm ready to get out of here."
Rachel smiled and started walking toward the sound of his voice.
"Did you ever make it to the other side of the maze?" she asked him.
"I wouldn't feel like murdering someone if I did," Derek replied dryly, making her laugh.
"Does that mean if we are being chased by a bunch of zombies and we run into this maze, we won't be able to find a way out?"
"Oh, well. The zombies are going to have a field day, eating us up," he answered with a laugh.
Rachel was laughing too as she continued to follow his voice. She kept him talking until she finally found him sitting on the ground with his back against the green wall of the maze.
"Found you!" She announced excitedly, earning a big grin from him.
"Hey, you!" He said excitedly. "I thought I was going to spend the entire afternoon here before either you or Uncle Alfred figured that I may be lost."
"There was no way I was going to let you spend the whole afternoon in here," she said, sitting down beside him.
"How do you feel?" she asked him softly.
"Honestly, I don't know," he admitted, running a hand through his messy hair. "I feel duped."
"I understand," she said tenderly.
"No, you don't. You grew up with a mother and brother who showered you with love and security. You didn't have to wonder if they loved you or not. Rachel was silent. She needed to let him vent.
"You didn't have to work extra hard in school to get good grades and you're your family's affection," Derek continued. "And I'm sure you never had to deal with the guilt that came with wanting to fall in love with someone and having that person love you back."
"What?"
"Sounds crazy, huh? I thought desiring to fall in love was wrong, not after what it did to my father."
"Oh, Derek..."
"I always thought that being a hard-hearted guy was the best way to protect myself from getting hurt but I was wrong," he added bitterly. "But guess what? I've been following the wrong blueprint all my life." Rachel felt his pain and it hurt her to see him feeling so low. Without saying a word, she leaned closer and drew him into her arms.
Derek didn't resist her touch but instead, he rested his head on her bosom and let her stroke his head gently. That gesture took him back to his childhood when his mother used to hold him close and stroke his hair like this.
His nose stung but he clenched his teeth to keep his emotions in check. He wasn't going to fall apart and cry like a child, even though that was what he felt like doing.
Instead, Derek lifted his head and touched his lips to Rachel's, waiting for her reaction. She responded by parting her lips and letting him kiss her.
He was gentle and tentative with it as if it was their first time and he didn't want to rush things. Rachel felt a delicious tingle up her spine as Derek deepened the kiss while running his palm down the side of her neck.
"I am so glad that you are here with me, Rachel," he whispered against her lips. "I don't know how I would have handled all of this without you here, holding me up with your kindness."
"I haven't done anything," she said, although she was flattered that he thought her presence here made a difference in a good way.

"And that's another thing I love about you, Rachel. You are gracious, humble, and forgiving. Not many women would give a guy like me a second chance after how I treated you badly."
"Let's not go back to that, Derek. It's in the past now. None of that matters anymore," she said, appreciating his honesty.
"You are right," he said softly. "Nothing else matters but you and me right now."
He kissed her again but this time, she recognized the fire of lust burning in him. Derek reached up behind Rachel and unzipped her dress with one swift motion. She shook the dress off, letting it fall around her waist and forming a cloud of chiffon over her hips.
Rachel hadn't worn a bra because the dress had a tight bodice. Her boobs were now exposed and aching for Derek's touch. He buried his face between them, taking immense pleasure in their lush softness.
"You are a dream, Rachel. You're way too perfect to be real."
She giggled. "Don't drown me in flattery, Derek. Just make love to me."
"I am not flattering you," he insisted. "I mean every word I said."
In response, Rachel pushed him back gently until he was lying on his back on the grassy ground. She crawled up on him and began to unbutton his shirt.
"I'm guessing this is going to be a first for both of us," she said with a grin. "Sex in a maze. Sounds exciting."
"Sounds like a porn movie title," Derek said and she laughed.
Once his shirt was off, Rachel moved to his pants and was glad to see his baton-sized erection, waiting for her attention. "Now, that's what I like to see," she said and covered his shaft with her mouth. She began to suck it like a giant straw.
Derek reached down and captured her boobs in his hands, kneading them gently while stroking her nipples too.
His touch fueled her passion, making her moan loudly. Rachel transferred her attention to his balls, taking each one into her mouth and sucking them simultaneously.
Derek thought his brain was going to explode from the sensation he was getting from down there. When she spread his thighs wide apart and ran her tongue over his perineum, he thought he would die with pleasure.
His body shivered and he fastened his fingers in her hair. Rachel encircled his groin with her tongue; licking, sucking, and nibbling him until he was nearly crying and begging her to set him free.
Derek couldn't take the torture anymore. His engorged cock throbbed almost painfully and he was yearning to stick it into her and put himself out of his delicious misery.
"I want to be inside you, Rachel," he panted.
"Be patient, my love," she said coyly and began to run her tongue along his inner thighs.
Rachel smiled to herself when she felt his muscles quiver under her tongue. Derek was hot and ready to have her but she was prolonging his torture and it was driving him crazy.

He reached down and grabbed his cock, intending to work himself until he orgasmed but Rachel stopped him with a look.
"Don't you dare," she warned him. "Or else, this will be the last time we fuck."
"Aw, come on, Raych. I'm dying here!" He complained.
She laughed. "Stop being a big baby. Now, say please."
"Please!"
"Please, what?"
"Please, Rachel. Take me to paradise."
"That's more like it," she said and crawled up his body. She caught one of his nipples between her teeth while twirling the other one with her fingers.
Derek was writhing and moaning, begging her to set him free. She inched up to kiss him on the lips, delighting in his pleasure.
"Giddy up, horsey," she said before positioning herself on top of him, with her back to him.
"Ride on, baby," he encouraged her.
Rachel lowered herself on his cock and began the familiar dance of bumping and grinding on him. As she bounced up and down on him, she kneaded his balls with her free hand. Meanwhile, Derek grabbed onto her ass, molding it like a sculptor handling clay.
It was an intense ride that ended in one of the most rapturous orgasms that either of them had ever experienced. As they reached the peak together, the moment was punctuated by a clap of thunder that startled them.
"Even the universe felt it too," said Derek, panting.
Rachel laughed. "Yeah, right."
The sky began to darken and streaks of lightning flashed across it with an ominous rumble of thunder. It was a clear warning of impending rain and the lovers quickly sprang apart to start dressing up. "How is this even possible?" Rachel asked, as she struggled into her dress.
"Just a few minutes ago, the sun was shining," she complained. "Where did this sudden rain come from?"
"Welcome to England," said Derek dryly. "We better find our way out of here fast or else we'll be drenched to the bone soon."
