Fall For “My Husband’s Uncle” By Janet Macadam

Chapter 48

Chapter 48

“Our wedding…

These words stabbed at Edith’s heart, making it hard for her to breathe

Johann and Vanessa had just had sex, and now they were ready to get married. Edith and Johann had been dating from high school to university. What was this relationship to him?

Edith thought, “It’s so ironic. Can a relationship of so many years not be compared to a one–night stand?”

She took a deep breath and forced herself to calm down. She turned to look at them and said with a fake smile, “Really? Congratulations. You two are a perfect match.”

Vanessa held Johann’s arm and looked at Edith with a smile as if she was showing off her victory.

Johann wanted to struggle, but when he saw Edith’s mocking smile, he immediately lost all his strength.

He thought, “I’m going to marry Vanny. How can I face Edith?”

“Edith… I’m sorry…” Johann said guiltily.

“There’s nothing to be sorry about. Isn’t it good for you two to be together? However, Vanessa, you have to watch Johann closely. He’s very soft–hearted and can’t bear to see anyone suffer. That means someone may steal him from you just like how you stole him from me. Even if I get divorced, people will still remember me as the ex–wife of the young and influential son of the Lawson family. But if you get divorced, you’re nothing but a divorced woman.”

“You…”

When Vanessa heard this, she was so angry that her face turned red. Edith was clearly mocking Vanessa for using despicable means and Johann for his cowardice and incompetence.

Hearing this, Johann was ashamed. As a man, he shouldn’t have handled his relationships with the two women like that. Even though he understood

now, it was too late.

The news of Johann sleeping with Vanessa spread throughout the two families. His parents couldn’t wait for him to give up on Edith. They took this opportunity to force him to marry Vanessa. However, Glenn insisted that the Davis family should give him an explanation.

Johann naturally understood that this was Vanessa’s scheme, and he disliked it. It was only now that Johann could truly see Vanessa’s true colors. She was very calculating. In the past, Johann did not feel there was anything wrong with it. Men liked women being a little difficult, and every man hoped to have a girlfriend who needed their protection and love. Throwing a tantrum occasionally was a kind of flirting. Johann could see through many of Vanessa’s tricks, but he had never revealed them because Vanessa made him feel pride, while Edith couldn’t do it.

Vanessa gave Johann a sense of achievement and power. But when he was trapped in it, he realized that scheming women were not good at all.

Vanessa looked innocent. However, in fact, she was very cunning.

Edith looked bored and unromantic, yet she was simple and upright.

When Johann was good to her, she repaid him with kindness. Edith never took others‘ kindness for granted. She carefully protected their relationship and was considerate. Edith knew that a long–distance relationship was very hard, so even when she was wronged, she would not tell Johann.

However, Johann was stupid. He couldn’t see how good Edith was. Instead, he fell for the fake gentleness that Vanessa gave him.

How silly he was to miss his beloved girl just like that!

Johann regretted it, but he didn’t have the ability to resist the marriage. He suddenly felt that he was useless.

He couldn’t help Edith leave the Lawson family, let alone promise her a future. His confident promise before suddenly turned into a joke.

Johann was too ashamed to face anyone. He blushed when he saw Edith.

“Where is the invitation? Give it to me. I’ll definitely dress up and show everyone how good looking Johann’s former fiancée is. Remember to ask your makeup artist to go all out and don’t let me outshine you,” Edith smiled brightly as if nothing had happened, but her heart was broken.

Vanessa narrowed her eyes when she heard this. She slapped the bright red invitation heavily in Edith’s hand and said coldly, “Alright, I’d like to see how

you’ll dress up.”

After that, Vanessa took Johann’s hand and strode away.

Johann looked deeply at Edith with indescribable affection in his eyes.

This glance made Edith feel a little disgusted.

Johann was no longer qualified to love her. Such a coward was not worthy of her at all.
