Fall For “My Husband’s Uncle” By Janet Macadam

Chapter 31

Chapter 31

“Do I look that old?”

Carlos knitted his thick eyebrows tightly. His bright eyes were cold and menacing

Standing so close to him, Edith felt a chill run down her spine, and her legs started to tremble.

Edith really did not mean to offend Carlos at all. She had heard of his name. Carlos was the current head of the Lawson family. At the age of 27, he had got outstanding achievements. He was a brilliant young man. Very few people could be on par with him.

However, the outside world knew nothing except that Carlos was a 27–year–old man and the president of the Lawstom Group.

Carlos was very low–key, but not in the business world. Countless companies went bankrupt because of him.

He was ruthless and decisive. A few seniors even shook their heads and sighed when they heard Carlos‘ name. One could see just how terrifying he was

Moreover, Carlos ranked high in the family. His father, Bill’s youngest son, was born when Bill was 60, so Carlos was about the same age as Simon. However, Carlos was Simon’s uncle.

Naturally, Edith had to call Carlos Uncle respectfully

This had nothing to do with age. This was related to seniority.

However, Edith did not dare to say it. Although Simon married her, he had never acknowledged her. Perhaps Carlos did not even know who his nephew.

had married.

Edith thought, “Since Carlos does not know that I’m Simon’s wife, why should I tell him the truth? What if I can escape in the future?”

She had to avoid getting involved with the Lawson family. Unless Simon acknowledged her, Edith would not admit that she was a member of the Lawson family.

There was no basic respect between them. How could they be considered husband and wife?

Although Edith did not admit that she was a member of the Lawson family, she respected Carlos very much. After all, Carlos was Simon’s uncle and the family head. Edith did not dare to offend him. If she could gain his favor, when the time came, Edith might be able to get his support and divorce easily.

The more Edith thought about it, the more she felt that it was a good idea, so she became more attentive and thought about how to explain it

“I… I didn’t mean that you were old, I called you that because…”

After hesitating for a long time, Edith still couldn’t find a suitable excuse. Unexpectedly, Robert was smart enough to explain for her. “Carlos, you don’t understand the slang on the Internet. I heard that some girls like to call people older than them uncles to show their friendliness, right?”

“Yes! Generally speaking, this is the way they address handsome men who are older than them,” Edith quickly replied.

Only then did Carlos expression soften a little. He raised his eyebrows slightly and said with a strong aura, “Really?”

“Of course Uncle Carlos, do you want coffee? I’ll get you some.”

After that, Edith poured a cup of coffee and handed it to Carlos with a bright smile.

Carlos was slightly suspicious. Aher hearing her explanation, he was suddenly pleased, but why did he feel that there was a conspiracy hidden in her smile? Carlos thought, “Is she trying to scheme against me?

This girl has always been shrewd. This time, she is so active. I want to see what this little fox is up to ”

Carlos picked up the cup, took a sip, and said, “Come and play Texas Hold’em poker”

“OK, Uncle Carlos,” Edith said enthusiastically.

Carlos raised his eyebrows. He was not used to it, but she called him so naturally.

After four rounds of Texas Hold’em poker, as if Edith had suddenly been enlightened, she carefully asked for Carlos‘ opinion before she made a decision. She didn’t make any mistakes this time, and she was exceptionally lucky. She got good cards in the beginning several times.

The three people opposite her had wanted to take the opportunity to make a fortune, but they lost a lot this time.

“Shit, are you cheating? Did you secretly study it?” Robert said with a gloomy face..

Edith smiled faintly and felt a little embarrassed. She passed the buck to Carlos. “Uncle Carlos taught me well.”
