Chapter 164 

Edith was worried that Carlos would soon fall in love with a new woman after she died. 

She thought, “Will he forget about me in no time?” 

“Why should he remember me? I am so rash and reckless.” 

“If! died… there would be nothing left.” 

Edith was worried everyone would forget about her before long. 

She didn’t know if it was cold in heaven. If it were, she would ask Sarah to burn a few quilts and cotton clothes for her in her 

dream. 

She didn’t know if her parents were also in heaven. Perhaps they could finally be reunited. 

She thought, “Will I still be alone in the end?” 

Edith could no longer compose herself. She even felt that death was a relief, but the feeling of waiting for death was terrible. 

She no longer expected anyone to save her. No one would find out, even if she died. 

In the end, she fell into a coma. 

Right then, the iron gate was knocked open with a ‘bang. The lock fell to the ground and split into two. 

Carlos rushed in, tore through the other corpses like a madman, and finally found Edith. 

Her lips were sealed. There were ropes tied around her body hard, which made her arms bruised. 

Her face was blue with cold, and her body was trembling uncontrollably.

He quickly brought her out of the morgue. 

The air outside was hot, and her nose was blocked. Edith took a weak breath and felt her internal organs were slightly warm. 

She thought, “There’s warm air in heaven!” 

She was taken directly to the hospital. 

Her body was already stiff from the cold, so it was necessary to keep her warm. 

She was covered with quilts layer by layer. Carlos rubbed her hands, making her stiff arms slowly recover blood. 

The medical staff on the side also hurried to do the same. 

Someone accidentally pressed on the bruised place ever tied up with a rope. She let out an unbearable groan in a coma and frowned slightly. 

However, this groan instantly made Carlos anxious. 

“Can’t you be gentler? Don’t you know that it hurts her?” 

Being startled, the nurse quickly nodded and apologized. 

“Get out of here! Change to someone else! If any of you hurt her, I’ll kill you!” 

Carlos roared in a low voice like an impatient and angry lion. 

Edith had agreed to come back for lunch, but she didn’t come back and didn’t answer the phone, so Susan had no choice but to call Carlos.

Then Carlos immediately sent someone to investigate, only to find that she had been kidnapped and sent to the hospital’s morgue. 

By the time he arrived, she had been in the morgue for nearly two hours.

In the end, the doctor made a diagnosis. Although her blood was not flowing smoothly because of the ropes binding her wrists, Edith was still safe. 

After her temperature returned to normal and she woke up, she needed to stay in the hospital for a few days. 

Hearing this, Carlos heaved a long sigh of relief. However, his heart was still in his throat. How could he rest assured before seeing her wake up? 

Sam had already investigated the culprit behind the scenes. It was Meggie. 

At first, Meggie just wanted to play a little prank and thought that the doctor would find out about Edith in time, but she didn’t expect that Edith would be frozen for two hours without anyone knowing. 

Hearing this, Carlos‘ eyes instantly turned chilly. 

A cold voice sounded. “Bring her here. If she struggles, break her legs and take her here. I don’t mind paying for treating her legs. If she is completely disabled, the Lawson family is willing to keep a disabled person.” 

Hearing this, Sam’s heart trembled slightly.

Sam thought, “Mr. Lawson is so cruel. Meggie is Natalie’s younger sister.” 

Because of Natalie, Carlos had tried his best to endure Meggie’s temper for the past five years. However, he would fly into a rage because of Edith now. 

Sam didn’t dare to say anything more and hurried to do it. 

Half an hour later, Sam came back with an embarrassed look on his face. 

After humming and hawing for an eternity, he couldn’t find an answer. 

Carlos frowned fiercely. “Where’s Meggie?” 

“That… I coincidentally ran into Miss Natalie at Miss Huffam’s house. In the end… Miss Huffam didn’t come. Miss Natalie came 

here.” 

“Natalie?” 

When Carlos heard the name, his brows furrowed deeply. There was a complex emotion hidden in his attractive eyes.
