Chapter 139 

Everyone looked at each other in dismay. Aaron felt a sense of guilt as he knew that he had brought up the most painful thing buried in Carlos‘ heart. 

But these were all facts, and that people avoided talking about it couldn’t change that it happened! 

Carlos clenched his fists so tightly that his wound was bleeding again. 

His lips slowly parted, and he said in a cold voice. 

“I’m no longer the kid from five years ago. This time, I’ll protect my woman. Whoever tries to hurt her will pay with their 

life!” 

These words were dripped with coldness, sending a shiver of fear through everyone’s body. 

After five years, Carlos had become even more terrifying. His change was evident to all. 

Right now, his temperament was unpredictable and his look was unreadable. He rarely showed up and always made moves. in the dark. His true cunning had yet to be understood. 

Even when they played Texas Hold’em poker and drank together, they never knew what was on Carlos‘ mind. 

Since he had an idea in his mind, they just needed to come up with a plan to help him.. 

Robert cleared his throat and said, “Carlos, since you’ve made up your mind, I have no problem with that. A relationship has always been sensitive. It’s a good sign that Edith feels sad about it. It shows that she cares about you! It’s easy to make a woman laugh, but only when a woman cries for a man could it prove that she loves the man.” 

“Nonsense. I can’t bear to see her cry.” Carlos raised his eyebrows in displeasure. 

“Carlos, if she never cries for you, you’ll cry! Be serious. Carlos, don’t show up. I’ll find an excuse to ask her out, and we’ll create a chance for you to be alone. We all know that you’re not good at sweet–talking. It doesn’t matter. The mouth is for kissing her. Also, don’t give a woman time to think. All you need to do is pinch her chin, press her against the wall, and kiss her when she’s in a daze… 

Before Robert could finish his words, Aaron smacked him in the face. 

“Well? Are you so desperate that you’re going to kiss me?” 

“It’s a demo, understand?” Robert shot him a sullen glance. 

“If she doesn’t show intense resistance when you kiss her lips, you should make the next move, mainly caressing the sensitive parts of her. You’ll get off to a good start when you can hold hands and kiss her. As for the rest, it’s up to you, and we’ll stay out of it!” 

Robert said awkwardly. 

Carlos‘ face turned red. He was 27 years old, but he knew so little about women. 

Now that he finally had a woman, he still needed a careful plan to kiss her. What a bummer! 

Carlos propped his head up and frowned slightly. He said crossly. “I’m 27 years old. Isn’t it strange that I don’t have a woman by my side?” 

“Well… Carlos, do you finally realize that? Your mother has come to me many times, and she told my father that if he sees me with you again, he will ask someone to break my legs!” Robert said aggrievedly. 

“You deserve that. I’m afraid you’ll be indulged in sexual proclivities.” 

“That’s better than you, who’s been single forever, right?” 

A deathly hush fell over the lounge as soon as Robert said that. 

Aaron pulled Brian, looked at the ceiling, and silently exited the lounge. 

When Robert met Carlos‘ gaze, he instantly felt a chill run down his spine. 

Why did he bring this up? 

Robert shrank back involuntarily, only to hear Carlos‘ cold voice. “Someone, get everything ready in the boxing venue. I’m going to have a trial of strength with Mr. Yates.” 

Hearing this. Robert gave a shrill cry, “Help! I want to go home…” 

Carlos felt much better after venting his feelings in a boxing practice with Robert. 

He drove back to the villa. The door to Edith’s room had been torn down, and she was already asleep. The construction team carefully removed the door and put it back in place. 

Carlos walked in and felt sorry for her when he saw her red face and swollen eyes. 

He could not help but think of what Robert had said. It was easy for a man to make a woman laugh, but it was killing him to see her cry. Her tears made him feel immensely guilty. 

Carlos caressed her cheek with his big hand and wiped away the wet tears. 

Right at that moment, she began to talk in her dream. 

“Liar… Why did you lie to me? When you loved someone else, why did you mess with me… 

The corners of Carlos‘ mouth curled into a faint smile at her words. 

“Fate played a trick on us and tied us together. Does your question even matter? 

“Sleep well. I’ll see you tomorrow.” 

Carlos bent down and laid a light kiss on her forehead. 

His lips lingered on her forehead for a while before he left. 

On the other hand, Edith had a very long dream in which Carlos came and left again as if he would never come back. 

In the dream, she cried and said stubbornly, “Just go. Anyway, you’re a liar. Don’t come back here.” 

However, she could not stop her tears from falling. Deep down, she longed for Carlos‘ return. 

“Why did 

you mess with me… but you left me… 

Tears rolled down her cheeks as Edith muttered. 

Even she didn’t understand that she had fallen in love with Carlos at that moment. She had never brought herself to face it and didn’t dare to believe it. 

That was why she felt so devastated now. 

Edith opened her eyes the following day and stared blankly at her room. It was starkly empty. 

Was she robbed? Did someone steal the door to her room? 

Edith got up in horror and hurried to find Susan. Only then did she find out that Carlos was the mastermind. 

Edith stamped her feet with anger. “This bastard is still so arrogant after doing that. How can he behave like this?” she complained inwardly. 

Seeing that she was foaming with rage, Susan couldn’t help asking curiously, “Mrs. Lawson, what’s wrong with you and Mr. 

Lawson?” 

“Susan, do you know Natalic?” 

“Natalie?” Susan was a little surprised. She didn’t expect Edith to know her. 

“You know Natalie? Then do you know her relationship with Carlos?” 

Well… it’s hard to say. It’s been so many years…” Susan hemmed and hawed nervously, not daring to say it clearly. 

“Susan, you must know something, right? Just tell me. I want to know!” 

Edith pleaded and finally wore Susan down. She told Edith what she knew.
