Fake Vow True Luna

Chapter 14

#Chapter 14: The Eviction

“I thought for sure that you would never forgive me.”

My eyes widened a bit. I knew what Nathan was talking about: the day that my dad. and I got evicted.

It was more than ten years ago, but I still remembered the pain and the humiliation.

like it was just yesterday…

“Olivia. Wake up.”

I was sleeping in my bed in the little house that my dad and I called home. I

remembered that I was supposed to go to school in the morning.

“Five more minutes,” I grumbled, rolling over.

My dad shook my shoulder again, this time more violently. “Liv, you have to wake

up,” he said. “We have to go. Hurry up and get dressed.”

I frowned and slowly sat up. My dad was standing over me with a worried

expression on his face, and when I glanced over at the clock, I saw that it was only

one o’clock in the morning. I had only been asleep for a few hours.

Yawning, I rubbed my eyes. “Dad, what’s going on?” I asked, feeling myself get more

nervous as he threw a pair of pants and a sweater down on my bed for me. “Where

are we going?”

“Hurry up, Kamran!” a gruff male voice shouted from the other room, effectively jolting me out of my sleepiness.

“Dad?” I whimpered.

My dad crouched down to my level and firmly took me by both shoulders, looking deeply into my eyes. “Olivia… No matter what you hear or see, don’t believe it and don’t pay it any mind,” he insisted in a low tone of voice. “Don’t let anyone convince

you of anything. And stay with me.”

“What’s going on?” I asked, but it was too late. My dad rushed out of the room. I

heard raised voices, and I quickly got dressed and ran out to see one of the pack’s

Betas standing in our little kitchen.

He and my dad were standing in the open front doorway. They were speaking in

frantic tones, but my dad stopped speaking when I came out. “Come on, Liv,” he said.

gently, holding his hand out for me as the Beta started to head out the door. “Stay

with me.”

I furrowed my brow and took my dad’s hand, forgetting momentarily that I was fifteen and that I no longer saw holding my dad’s hand as “cool“. During those

moments while the Beta led us to the Alpha Council and everyone began to come out of their houses in confusion, I felt like a little kid again.

Get inside.” The Beta practically shoved us into the house where the Alpha Council

was held. I yelped as my foot got caught on the doorframe and I almost fell, but my

dad caught me and led me over to a chair outside the door to the meeting room.

“Wait here, Liv,” he said. He pursed his l*ps and ruffled my hair, but there was a

tenseness in his actions that only made me even more nervous. I watched in a state

of shock as he disappeared into the meeting room, leaving me alone with the Beta

acting as my guard.

My dad was in there for a long time. It felt like hours; it was so long, in fact, that I

was almost about to fall asleep in the hard wooden chair when the door suddenly

swung open. I stood abruptly and gasped as a pair of hands shoved my dad out,

making him fall to his hands and knees.

“Dad!” I called. I ran over to him and started to help him up.

“I’m fine, Liv,” he reassured me as he stood. I looked up then to see Alpha Colin,

Nathan’s father, standing in the doorway with his arms folded across his chest.

“Why did you push him?” I asked, standing and holding tightly onto my dad’s arm.

Colin stared down his nose at me, looking me up and down, before he took in a

sharp breath that almost sounded like a hiss

“Gamma Kamran and Olivia Wild… You are henceforth banished from the pack.”

My eyes w

My eyes widened. My dad started to pull me away, but I struggled against him and

wrenched my arm away. “What?!” I yelled. “Why? What did we do?”

“Liv, come on…” my dad whispered behind me, but I shook my head and just glared up at Colin with fire in my eyes.

Colin simply chuckled. “Kamran, get your kid,” he said. “She’s being insolent. You are in no position to ask questions, Olivia. Both of you need to leave immediately.”

I felt my dad’s hand on me again, and this time, I was in a state of too much shock.

to resist.

“Can I at least say goodbye to my friends?!” I demanded as my dad pulled me away. I need to say goodbye to Nathan and Alvin!”

“Liv…” My dad pulled on my arm again.

This time, Colin put his hand up to stop us, and slowly walked up to me. As he towered over me and bent down to my level, I felt my heart rise into my throat. When he fixed his icy stare on me, I felt as though I would pass out.

“Nathan already knows,” he hissed with a mocking grin. “Unlike you, he knows his place and would never want to be friends with a traitor.”

I shook my head stubbornly and puffed my chest out. “I won’t believe you,” 1

growled. “Let me talk to Nathan. You’re lying.”

Colin sighed and stood once more. “Take your daughter, Kamran,” he said, his face

dark as he stared down at me. “Otherwise I’ll need to handle her myself.”

“Let’s go, Liv.” My dad came up to me again and grabbed me by the wrist, harder

this time.

“No!” I shrieked, struggling to wriggle free as my dad dragged me away. “Let me see

my friends!”

My dad just grabbed me more firmly. His eyes burned with a sad sort of fire in

them, and he yanked me out the door and onto the front lawn.

“Nathan!” I screamed, not caring if I woke up the entire town. “Alvin!”

Suddenly, I saw Nathan appear from around the corner of the building. “Nathan!” 1

called, struggling against my dad. “What’s happening?! Why are we-”

But my dad put his hand over my mouth to keep me quiet, and picked me up. As he carried me away, my struggle against his strength was futile and all I could do was

stare helplessly at Nathan, who just stood there.

I tried to call out to him in my mind, but our mindlink was cut off.

He did nothing. He just stood there and watched as I was taken away.

“I still don’t know the real reason behind why my dad and I were evicted,” I said.

Nathan and I were both standing by the window now. Throughout our

conversation, the winter sun had begun to go down and cast the sky in a purple hue.

My childhood friend said nothing. There was a long silence before I finally turned.

to face him.

“Nathan… I have another condition of our agreement,” I said.

Nathan slowly turned to look at me with a puzzled expression on his face. “Another

one?” he asked. “What is it?”

I chewed my l*p for a moment, then spoke. “Rule number five: as my best friend and

fake lover, I want you to help me investigate the real reason.”

My friend just looked at me for a long time with a sad frown on his face. He shook

his head and stared down at the floor, and my heart sank.

“I’m okay with the other four rules.” Nathan’s voice was low and stern, and when he

looked up at me, his bluish green eyes were cold. “But rule five…”
