Fake Vow True Luna

Chapter 10

#Chapter 10: The Worst Day

Before Nathan could say anything else, I ran out of the room. I couldn’t be there

anymore; I couldn’t believe that this day had turned so sour so quickly. Not only did

Nathan destroy my reputation in a matter of minutes as he lied and told everyone.

that we were fated mates in order to get himself out of a marriage, but he also revealed that I was… pregnant?

The Alpha of a pack could sense all of the members in the pack. Even if the members were unborn, the Alpha could still sense them. Traditionally, women in a pack would go to the Alpha if they thought they were pregnant, and some packs. made a ritual out of it. And although it was too early in the pregnancy for me to even know myself, if Nathan could sense it then I was pretty certain that he was right.

I still needed to check, though. For all I knew, this was all some sort of sick prank;

maybe they wanted to torture me a little instead of really having me come back to

the pack, which would explain the reason why everything seemed to get worse and

worse with each minute that I was back in this town.

First it was my aunt’s villa, then it was the wedding, and now the Alpha was apparently diagnosing me as pregnant. As I ran out of the church, I decided to go just down the street to the nearest pharmacy and find out for myself if I really was pregnant and if Nathan was either lying or just plain wrong.

When I walked into the little pharmacy, it was just as quiet as I always remembered it. There was an old lady behind the counter; I recognized her as the old owner,

although she was much older now and had a significant hunch to her back from her

age

I quickly hid my face by avoiding eye contact and sheepishly set a box of pregnancy tests down on the counter. The old woman didn’t say anything if she did

recognize me, and just hung up.

“Can I use the bathroom?I asked.

“It’s over there.” The old lady pointed, although I already knew where it was. Grabbing the box off of the counter, I locked myself in the bathroom and took the test in there. For a few minutes while I waited for the results to show on the test, I

just felt nauseous with anxiety the entire time.

And, just as Nathan said, I was indeed pregnant. The test was positive. I cursed to myself and tossed the test in the trash before I stormed out of the pharmacy and back to my car. When I got in, I knew that I had to do something before I did anything else.

I needed to call my ex. Sighing, I pulled out my phone and dialed Ryan’s number.

–

It had to be his baby. I hadn’t slept with anyone else in a long time. He deserved to know. But of course, he didn’t answer when I called him just as he hadn’t been. answering for a week now, after he’d suddenly kicked me out of our apartment for

no reason. I had to leave a voicemail.

“Ryan, I don’t know why you’re refusing to answer my calls,” I said once the tone played for the voicemail to begin, “but I’m pregnant and it’s definitely your baby. I

don’t know what you plan to do. You need to call me.”

Sighing, I hung up my phone.

For a long time, I just sat there in my car and stared blankly out the window. Ten

minutes, then fifteen minutes passed, and Ryan never called me back or even sent a

text acknowledging my voicemail.

I couldn’t just sit there and wait endlessly, though, and besides; I couldn’t bring

myself to keep showing my face in that town where everyone just saw me as a

homewrecker anyway. I decided then that I would return to my aunt’s villa, grab my

bags, and go to Ryan’s house on my own to confront him in person.

If he didn’t want to answer my calls, then he would have to answer to my face. Maybe then he would act like a man instead of just ghosting me and running away

from his problems.

I cursed under my breath again as I put the car in drive and hit the gas.

But it didn’t budge.

The tires spun wildly beneath the car, spewing mud everywhere; the car was stuck and wouldn’t move forward. I cursed even louder this time as I angrily got out to go

and look at the car, only to find that there was a big puncture in my tire. It wasn’t

just that, either.

Someone had written “BITCH” in big red letters on my car, right above my tire.

“Are you kidding me?!I said. I stormed back over to my driver’s side door and

climbed inside. I shut the door and sat there for a moment, breathing deeply, before I

couldn’t hold it in anymore.

I started to cry like crazy as I leaned my head on the steering wheel. Why was

everything going so badly today? Why me?

Suddenly, as I sobbed loudly in my car, I heard a knock on my window. I quickly

jerked my head up and wiped the snot off of my nose with the back of my hand, then

felt my heart practically stop as I saw that the person who knocked was none other

than Nathan.

TATL..

Why was he here? Was he mocking me? Did he come here to see the spectacle of

the outcast sobbing like a baby in her wrecked car?

“Go away!” I shouted through the closed window, pointing. “Leave me alone!”

Nathan just stared at me for a moment. Then, suddenly, he reached out and

grabbed the handle. The door was unlocked, and before I could stop him, he flung it

open and bent down to look at me.

“Olivia, I don’t know where you’re planning on going, but you’re staying here with

me,” he demanded with a stern look on his face. “You know we have to be

inseparable now that everything thinks we’re fated mates.”

“I don’t care,” I growled. I grabbed the handle of the car door and tried to yank it shut, but Nathan just stuck his foot out and stopped the door from closing.

“Come on, Olivia. We can go back to the villa.”

Now, I was even more angry. “I don’t want to go anywhere with you!” I yelled. “I don’t want to play along with your ridiculous charade of being a fake couple! I’ve had enough of this and I’m leaving!”

For a few moments, Nathan just stared at me as he blinked slowly. I couldn’t tell if he was shocked, annoyed, or if he was just waiting for me to finish. But then,

suddenly, he pulled a small cardboard box out from behind his back.

“Here,” he said. “I bought something for you. Call it a peace offering.”

I looked up at my childhood friend in surprise. Was he trying to bribe me now? “So you just went and bought me something, like that would fix all of the trouble you just caused?” I asked.

Nathan held the box out more with a sincere expression on his face.

“Guess what it is?” he asked with a bit of a smile. “I promise you won’t want to pass it up.”
