As we walked to the hospital room, Anna kept scolding me the whole way.
“It was Liam who called me and said you had an accident. We had a hard
time finding you! You, how could you make such a mess at such a critical
moment?”
I only paid attention to the first sentence: “Liam called you?”
“Yeah!” Anna asked, “Did you two have a fight? Why did he get so angry?”
I shook my head.
“Did he agree to invest then?”
I glanced at her.
She realized her mistake and said, “Could it be because he didn’t agree to
invest that you pressured him like this? And why did you have to choose a

place so far away? What if you had really died?”
As soon as we entered the ward, Mr. Cailan arrived.

He first smiled at Anna and said, “Ms. Anna,” then looked at me and said, “Mrs.
Mendez, Mr. Mendez wants me to discuss investment matters with you in
private.”
Upon hearing this, Anna’s eyes lit up. “Then I won’t disturb you two,” she said.
After she left, Mr. Cailan’s smile faded, and he opened his briefcase to take
out a document. “This is the investment agreement. Once the contract is
signed, the funds will be in place immediately.”
I quickly scanned the agreement and was shocked beyond words. “He wants
to invest 50 billion?”
“Exactly, Mr. Mendez believes that a five billion investment only treats the
symptoms, not the root cause,” said Mr. Cailan. “So he decided to increase it
by ten times.”

Why is he suddenly so generous?

“He wants my father’s shares?” Even though I don’t understand business, I
know what this means. “He wants to acquire my family’s company!”
My father owns 60 percent of the company’s shares, which belongs to the
Chairman.
He left behind documents, stating that in the event of a situation like this, I
would be in charge of his shares.

“Exactly. Mr. Mendez believes that Ms. Vivienne needs to rest, and as for Ms.
Anna…” Mr. Cailan gave me a meaningful look. “You can see for yourself that

dominated the market, it’s finished now. If it weren’t for you threatening to kill
yourself, how could Mr. Mendez possibly waste his resources and energy to
save it?”
Feeling overwhelmed by what he said, I replied, “I need to discuss this with
my sister first. Can I give you an answer in a few days?”
“Before next Monday,” said Mr. Cailan. “But I suggest you don’t take too long.”
Although I knew that Anna didn’t like me very much, she was still my sister
and the CEO of the company.
She had the right to participate in the decision-making process regarding
the company.

After discussing this matter with Anna, she didn’t react as explosively as I had
expected. Instead, she calmly said, “If Han is able to build a leading company
in just a few years, our family’s business will definitely be saved under his
management.”
“That’s right.”
“But then, it wouldn’t be our family’s company anymore. That’s not right,” said
Anna, looking at me with a smirk. “The company belongs to your husband,
and I only have 8 percent of the shares left. Liam will definitely not let me
continue as the CEO. I’ll be at a loss.”
“What do you mean?” I asked.
