Ex Husband Goes Money Comes Chapter 464
Chapter 464 Bentley Is Drunk
Breenda cast a glance at his computer. "You haven't finished your work, right?”
"Can you wait for me for half an hour?" Bentley asked with a serious expression.
As their eyes met, Breenda's heart skipped a beat. She couldn't help being attracted to him.
She looked away and compromised, saying, “Don't time out. Otherwise, I'll leave immediately."
"Sure!" Bentley returned to his seat and focused on the work at hand.
Soon, it was evening. The place of the gathering was a bar.
It was brightly lit and noisy in the bar.
When Breenda and Bentley entered the private room, they saw more than a dozen men and women having fun inside. It seemed
that no one was absent.
Bentley had been obsessed with medical research for many years, and he had never meddled in the affairs of the McGraw
Group. Naturally, he had never been involved in any social events.
The whole room was filled with the fumes of wine. Bentley was not used to such a place. From the moment he came in, he
frowned and looked aloof.
Breenda could tell his inadaptation. When they entered the room, she turned around to stare at him and whispered, "Do you feel
all right? You can wait for me outside or take a taxi back to my home.”
After that, she put on a gentle smile and was about to walk into the private room.
Just then, Bentley grabbed her by her wrist and asked in a somewhat awkward voice, ’ Breenda, do you always come to places
like this?’
Breenda looked down and hid the melancholy in her eyes. Then, she said lightly, "As the successor to the Callis Group, I'm
responsible for developing it. Regardless of whether I like it or not, I must attend this kind of occasion."
She pulled her hand out and turned around to go to the room.
As soon as the people inside saw her, they greeted her warmly.
Some of them noticed Bentley, who was behind Breenda, and said, "Ms. Callis, I heard that you've broken off the engagement
with the Hess family. Is he your new boyfriend? He's handsome.”
Breenda turned around and saw Bentley standing silently behind her.
She smiled and explained, "You are mistaken. He is my new secretary. It's his honor to meet you here today."
After exchanging the usual pleasantries, she whispered to Bentley, "Why did you come in? This place doesn't suit you. Get out.”
Bentley shook his head and said firmly, “Given you can adapt to such a place, I can do it as well.”
Since he insisted, Breenda stopped persuading him. She took the initiative to hold his hand and sat down on an empty sofa
together.
Bentley lowered his head and stared at the hand she was holding.
He felt her heat and was a little obsessed with it.
Lots of people came to toast Breenda. Bentley took her glass and drank for her.
After having several drinks, Bentley's pretty face was flushed. He began to feel dizzy and tipsy.
Breenda shook her head helplessly. Bentley had tried his best to help her, and he could drink more than she thought. After all, he
hadn't eaten anything yet.
"Ms. Callis, it's a toast to you. I look forward to cooperating with the Callis Group."
Breenda regained her senses and raised her glass in a well-behaved manner. She replied with a smile, “I'm looking forward to it
as well."
Just as she was about to drink, she was stopped by Bentley.
Although the latter's eyes were blurred, he insisted on drinking for her.
She quickly moved closer to him and said, "You're heavy. If you get drunk, I won't be able to carry you back by myself. I'll just
drink a little. I won't get drunk. Don't worry."
Bentley shook his head and said sincerely, "I wasn't by your side before, so I couldn't help you with the things you didn't want to
do. Now, I'm by your side, and I don't want you to worry about these things and force yourself anymore."
Breenda was slightly stunned. It was the first time she had heard him say these words. She couldn't help being moved by his
sincerity.
While she was in a daze, Bentley took the glass from her hand again and drained it in one gulp.
Soon, Bentley paid the price for being stubborn. He passed out.
Breenda was lost for words.
She shouldn't have been moved.
Seeing that Bentley was drunk, a female president came over to ask if he was fine. She even reached out to pat his face, trying
to wake him up.
In her hurry, Breenda pulled Bentley into her arms and prevented anyone else from touching him.
She smiled and said, "Ms. Gomez, I hope you can excuse me. My secretary is a neat freak. He doesn't even allow me to touch
him for no reason."
The woman clicked her tongue and said, "Ms. Callis, it looks like you are into him.”
Breenda smiled and didn't answer.
After several other drinks, it was getting late and the others gradually left.
Half an hour later, only Breenda was left. With Bentley in her arms, she sat on the sofa.
She could hardly bring Bentley home by herself, but she was reluctant to ask other women for help.
Therefore, she was in no hurry to go back. She called the Callis' home and asked the bodyguards and drivers to pick her and
Bentley up.
It only took the bodyguards about twenty minutes to arrive. They entered the private room, where Breenda and Bentley were,
and carried Bentley home.
Not long after, they returned to the Callis' home.
Bentley was carried back to the room by a bodyguard. When they went up the stairs, they saw Audrey, who was dressed in
pajamas, going downstairs.
She stopped Breenda, who was about to return to her room, and asked, "What's wrong with Mr. McGraw? How did he get so
drunk?"
Breenda was exhausted. She replied helplessly, "He didn't eat anything, but he insisted on drinking for me. Then, he passed
out."
"Well..."
Audrey's lips twitched. Seeing that Breenda was about to leave, she spoke again, "He gets drunk because of you. Shouldn't you
go to his room to take care of him?"
Breenda found it unbelievable. She said, "You are my mom, aren't you? I've been working for a day, and you don’t care about me
at all. How could you ask me to take care of him?"
Audrey patted her face gently and said, "You are my lovely daughter. However, it's the first time Mr. McGraw has come to our
home. It's our duty to take good care of him. Don't you think so? Besides, he is drunk due to you.”
Although Audrey's words made sense, Breenda was a little resistant. "He is my secretary. As his boss, I don't think I need to look
after him in person."
Audrey smiled. "Now, we are at home, and he is no longer your secretary. Listen to me and go to Mr. McGraw's room to help him
wash up. I'll bring him a cup of milk later."
Breenda wondered if she had misheard.
"Mom..."
Audrey overlooked her and turned around to go downstairs. She went into the kitchen soon.
Breenda watched her back and didn't know what to say.
She sighed, stood in the corridor for a while, and finally entered Bentley's room.
The bodyguard left after putting Bentley on the bed. When Breenda pushed open his room, she saw Bentley lying horizontally on
the bed with no covers on.
She looked up at the open window. The curtains were gently blown, and the night breeze was a little cold.
If she didn't tuck him in, he probably would get sick the next day.
Thinking of this, she felt a little sorry.
She walked to the bed and tried her best to adjust Bentley's sleeping posture and make him feel better.
The smell of alcohol greeted her. She indeed needed to help clean his body.
She convinced herself and quickly went to the bathroom. Then, she put a basin of hot water and a towel on the bedside table.
She sat down by the bed, helped Bentley take off his suit, and patiently unbuttoned his shirt.
His delicate body gradually came into her view.
She swallowed and tried hard to maintain calm.
When the last two buttons were undone, her wrist was held by a pair of hands.
Bentley swept his gaze between his chest and Breenda's face, asking in confusion, "What are you doing?"
Breenda suddenly withdrew her hand. Her face was flushed red and her lips trembled as if she was guilty. She replied “I... I didn't
do anything. Don't get me wrong. I didn't mean to take advantage of you at all.”
As soon as she finished her words, she slapped her forehead in frustration.
She wondered, "What did I say? Bentley must have misunderstood me."
