Chapter 35
Xander was drowning, and loving every second of it. Her skin, her hair, her scent, and the taste of her lips drove him near to madness, yet he couldn’t stop, he wouldn’t. She was his now, in deed and in truth. Her custom whatever it may be, would not make their union any more.
A commotion a few feet away took his attention for the briefest of seconds, yet when he recognized that it was only his little Wizard, he tried to dive back into the love of his mate. However, her attention was not so easily moved from one thing to another.
With less effort than he liked, she moved from his grasp and went to kneel down beside the other three on the floor of the command deck.
“I thought they were gonna take me to jail, or kill me,” Lennie said, fear trembling his voice. “But you, you stopped them, how did you know they wouldn’t take me?” Lennie looked directly at Xander, trepidation in his eyes.
“Because, you’re The Wizard. At least that’s what I’ve been calling you. In every one of my reports to The Allegiant, I’ve made certain to outline your special abilities under fire. There’s no one in this universe who can build a JUMP machine in less than seven terms...no one but you. The Allegiant wouldn’t be stupid enough to let that kind of ability go to waste. Not if they thought they could control it. However, they also kind of believe that you belong to my new mate, therefore, you’re royalty as well, and therefore their threats are only small explosions in a black hole––completely meaningless and without sound.”
“Why would you do that?” Rolara asked, tears still streaking down her face.
“Because, he’s mine as much as Brick is, and you’re Brick’s as much as Charlie’s mine...at least as much as I can see, it makes us all one big happy royal family. I mean if you want me to change everything, I can annul all the paperwork, I suppose,” Xander trailed off.
“No!” The resounding response was yelled by all three of his passengers...of his family.
“We, well, we have a baby to get ready for,” Rolara said, standing suddenly, “and you, young man,” she said pointing at Lennie, “have schoolwork to finish.”
“What about me?” Brick asked her, his face almost comical in it’s sincere hurt that she wouldn’t have a job for him.
“Well, you...you have more training to do. If you ever get captured again, I think I’d lose my mind. If what Xander says is true, then I won’t have my mate captured, nor will I become a widow so young,” Rolara smiled, looking up at Brick.
Brick’s reflexes were getting better, because he had Rolara in his arms before she finished her last word, and for a good long while, she wasn’t able to speak another one.
“It looks like your brother is showing you up, Tracker,” Charlie, grinned her half smile, teasing him, in a way only she could.
“Not for long, Time Keeper. Come show your mate how much you love him,” Xander said, as he reached out to pull her to him.
“How do you presume to know that I love you?” she asked.
“Because you told me, after our first night together.”
“You were supposed to be asleep!” She said, outraged as she slapped him on the chest. Xander could only laugh at her protest.
“Yeah, well, you were supposed to be asleep too,” he answered her.
“I suppose I was,” she said.
“It looks like we’ve messed with your version of relativity again,” Xander said, moving a piece of hair from her forehead.
“It looks like we’ve escaped yours,” Charlie responded. “You’re no longer a bachelor. You’re a husband, and a father, what do you think of that?”
“I should have found you, and escaped relativity a long time ago,” Xander said, kissing her firmly to distract her while he grabbed her underneath her knees and back, and carried her like the queen she was to their now shared quarters. It was past time to consummate their union.
