Envious Desire

Chapter 51

Chloe

Dressed in a long-sleeved lace-up side ruched body con dress, I accompany it with black four-inch slip-on stiletto open-toe shoes, curled hair with dark make-up, and a bold red lip.

Eat your heart out, Dominic. If you perceive I’ll be imploring for your touch, you’ll be eating out of my hand tonight. You’ll be the one pleading to lay between my legs.

Just as I laugh to myself, my phone pings, alerting me he’s in the car downstairs. Making my way downstairs, I run into Jade in the hallway.

“Girl, where are you going looking so hot?”

Giggling, I respond, “Dancing.”

“And you didn’t invite me?” Shock consumes her face.

“It was kind of last minute.” I attempted to rush down the hall before she could inquire any further.

“Who are you going with?” Her eyes sliced as I twisted to face her.

Huffing out a breath. “Dominic.”

Jade’s eyes widen. “Chloe!”

“Jade, I’m a grown woman and I can handle myself. I know what I’m doing.” I assured her.

“Chloe, he’s dangerous, and this outfit screams ‘fuck me,’ especially with those fuck me shoes.”

“It’s just to prove a point, no one is fucking.”

You better not hold yourself to that. Better yet, keep yourself on him.Natalia laughs at her crassness.

“I’ll be fine, Jade, I promise.” I rush down the hall, unwilling to continue the conversation.

“I’ll be waiting up for you.”

“No need.” I enter the elevator, making my way downstairs and out the door.

Dominic is leaning against the car with his thumb and forefinger grasping his chin. He adorns a black fitted suit with a dark maroon fitted shirt unbuttoned at the top to reveal his bulging tattooed chest.

He observes me exiting the door, causing him to stand upright. His intense blue eyes cloud over. My confidence boosts as I halt before him.

“You look...” He pauses, unable to complete his sentence.

“Cat got your tongue?” I giggle at his inability to formulate words.

With a chivalrous act, opening up the car door, I’m met with illuminating pink roses completely blocking the seat.

Mouth agape.

“Now, who’s speechless?” His laughter rings in my ear.

“Let me move this to the back seat.” Taking the roses and placing them in the back seat, he holds the door ajar for me to enter the car. Taking his rightful place in the driver’s seat, we’re off to the club.

We have a booth at the club which he conveniently owns, “The Underground.” I shake my head, knowing he owns multiple businesses to cover his “unofficial business.”

I haven’t a care in the world of his illegal endeavors. All I crave tonight is entertainment and fun. The music is pumping, beating in my veins. I yearn to release this energy.

Twisting to face Dominic, “I hope you have comfortable dance shoes because it’s time to let loose.”

I yank his right arm.

“Not yet. Allow me a drink first, Ms. Knox.”

“Fine, but after a drink, you will be mine.”

Leaning into the crevice of my neck, his hot breath heats my ear, “I like the way that sounds, Ms. Knox.”

Gulping at his words, the waitress pushes her breasts in Dominic face as she pours our drinks. A twinge of jealousy soars through me. The nerve of her to parade her breasts in his face while I sit beside him.

What’s even more insane is that Dominic is too fixated on me to notice her lame attempt at obtaining his attention.

“Shots?”

He raises his hand, lifting one for me. I graciously accept, and we both throw them back. The waitress refills for us three times when he speaks, “Okay, let’s go, Ms. Knox.”

My eyes widen. He is actually accepting his defeat graciously. Rising to his feet, he extends his hand, awaiting mine.

With a feverish yearning, I place my hand in his, rising to meet his thirsty blue orbs. Raving my physique, his eyes devour every inch as I wait before him. Placing a gentle kiss on my knuckles, a delicious chill slithers up my spine, his libidinous cyan eyes never leaving mine.

We make our way to the dance floor. I twist, cupping his face in my hands, and whisper in his ear.

“I’m surprised you took your loss so well, Mr. Valentino.”

“I’m not.”

“How do you explain this?” I wave to the club.

“You didn’t make the shot, Ms. Knox.”

Confusion canopies my face. “What?”

“You missed the shot completely.”

Shaking my head. “Then, why are we here?”

Edging to my ear, with a raspy voice. “You clearly wanted to dance, and I was inclined to be the cause of your smile.”

My Adam’s apple bobs at his words. He left his comfort zone for me. Turning my back towards him. I grab his hands, place them on my hips, sway to the music, and let the music take control.

A whole bottle and a half of whiskey later, nothing in the world can disturb my mood.

“Ms. Knox, I think it’s time to go.”

“AWE, come on, DOM! Live a little.” I tap his lips as I lick mine. Their suppleness leads to my longing to bite them.

“Okay, that’s enough.”

“No! I want to dance.”

I pull on his arm, attempting to move him. However, he weighs a ton. UGH!

Rising, he tugs me towards him, snaking his arm around my waist, lifting my head, “You have had enough to drink. I have danced, which I do not do. It is now time to go.”

The intensity in his eyes dared me to defy him, so I did.

Lips pulling back, “No.” My lips tug at the edges in girlish glee.

Dominic yanks my arm over his shoulder, grasps behind the legs, and lifts me over his shoulder, carrying me out of the club.

Screaming and kicking, I make it known I want to be placed on the floor, although I will admit that he could fling me around so quickly was a huge turn-on.

“Ms. Knox, behave yourself, or you will have to deal with punishment.”

Smiling from ear to ear, “Maybe I like to be punished.”

“You are playing a game you will not win.”

“I will if you punish me.” I laugh in the air, enjoying our playful banter.

Shutting his eyes, he takes a deep breath, “In the car.”

He opens the door for me to take my seat.

“And if I refuse?”

“Do not test me, Ms. Knox. I may have gone out of my depth for you tonight, but you are wearing my patience thin.”

“Fine, grumpy butt!” Crossing my arms, I plop in my seat, which seems like a fluffy cloud to escape on.

Dominic takes his seat behind the wheel, and before I know it, all I see is the black behind my eyelids.

UGH! What the hell happened last night. I roll over, placing my hand on my head feeling the silky smooth sheets against my bare flesh.

Wait, where the hell am I? Eyes bursting open, I observe my surroundings.

Gray wall-length curtains along gray walls. Two headlamps attached to the wall above the bed, the room’s edges have a wide black border set off by white lights to highlight the walls. Gray nightstands on each side of the bed. I’m canopied by gray silk sheets, giving a cooling sensation against my skin.

My only conclusion is I’m in Dominic’s home. Taking in the realization that the sheets feel transcendent against my skin, I peer under the flat sheet and notice no inch of clothing covering my body.

Slamming the sheets down, I cover my face.

“NO! Damn it, what did you do, Chloe?”

“Nothing.”

I shriek, pulling the sheets to my chin, unaware there was anyone else in the room. Peering towards the voice, I see Dominic taking a sip of his coffee.

“Why am I naked?”

“You passed out in the car. Unwilling to leave you alone, I brought you here.”

“Did we–”

“No. I explained to you once before Ms. Knox. I will not touch you until you are pleading for it. Furthermore, You were drunk last night; taking advantage of a woman is beneath me.”

Thankful and slightly disappointed, I nod my head, accepting his response.

“How did I end up naked?”

With a smile on his face, “When we arrived, you were what I call a walking drunk, where you disrobed while walking, you threw your dress there.” He pointed to the dress in the middle of the floor. “And jumped into bed, making sounds of satisfaction as you climbed between the sheets.”

Embarrassment clutched at my heart.

“And where did you sleep?

“Right next to you. I did enjoy it when you wrapped your leg around my hip.” His smile burned through my skin.

My eyes widened in horror.

Bursting with laughter. “I slept in the guest bedroom.”

I exhaled with exasperation, relieved nothing transpired between us.

“There are clothes in the bathroom for you through that door. I need you to get dressed and meet me downstairs to eat breakfast before we leave. I have an appointment, and I’d like you to join me.”

He walks out before I can inquire about today’s excursion. I fall back on the bed, exhaling with exasperation. What the fuck, Chloe?

Ugh, whipping the blanket off me, I pad my way to the bathroom to prepare for today.

“Where are we going?”

“Rather impatient, aren’t we, Ms. Knox?”

“We’ve been driving for over an hour. I’m just curious, are you luring me out to the middle of nowhere and wack me?”

“Wack you?” He chuckled at my choice of words.

“Yes, kill me, Mr. Valentino. Is that your mission for today?”

“I assure you, Ms. Knox, that is not on today’s agenda.” He states with a substantial sinister smile on his face.

Laughing at his response, I swat his arm. I feign pain, rolling my eyes and shaking my head.

We finally exit, arriving at Wayward Ranch Animal Sanctuary. Eyebrows bunch together.

“What are we doing here?”

Parking in front of the big home, I scorn the vast open field in awe. Opening the car door, I exit to view Dominic greet a man.

“And who’s this? You brought someone with you today.”

Dominic nods, introducing us, “Kyle, this is Chloe Knox.”

“A pleasure to meet you, Ms. Knox.”

“The pleasure is all mine.” He stretches his hand, and I extend mine to welcome the greeting.

“You must be someone special. You’re the first person he’s ever brought up here.”

“Okay, Kyle, enough.” Dominic cradles him in his arms.

Kyle throws his hands up.

“Is she still here?” Dominic inquires.

Kyle’s face drops, “Yeah, she is.”

Dominic shakes his head. I’m confused as to what he is referencing. I trail behind them, observing every blade of green grass, when I see a speeding bullet running through the field.

My heart races, seeking Dominic. The widest smile I’ve ever seen captivates his face when this bullet jumps and lands in his arms. OMG! It’s a dog.

Dominic lands on his ass while the dog frantically licks his face. Dominic’s Cheshire grin proves he’s loving every second of it.

Warmth fills my body. Observing Dominic being so playful and loving with the dog made my heart melt.

“Who is this beauty here?” I inquire with angst.

Scratching her head, “This is Betsy. She’s been here for over a year to be adopted. I come to visit her once a month. She loves our little hikes in the woods. And today, you’ll be joining us.” A spark twinkles in his soft blue hues as he gazes in my direction.

We begin our journey, and I notice Betsy is off-leash, leading me to inquire. “Aren’t you worried she’ll run away?”

“Not at all. She’s well-trained. Her recall is superb.”

I watch in awe as she walks alongside us on the trail, returning to us every time Dominic gives a command.

“I’m curious. Why don’t you adopt her instead of just visiting her once a month?”

“I can’t give her the home she deserves.” He blankly states.

“The home she deserves?”

“To properly care for a dog, you have to be there for them twenty-four, seven. They need constant love and attention. They depend on you for everything. I can’t offer that to her. But I can take a little time out of every month and give her my attention.”

“Couldn’t you spend that time with her if she lived with you?”

“Where? In my actual home or at the warehouse?”

I see his point. “Well, she does have four legs. She can travel back and forth like you do.”

“They need more than travel accommodations, they need stability, and I’m aware of my shortcomings. I cannot offer her that. They require the same as children do. Aware of this, I do not crave to have children.”

Hearing that hit my chest like a knife. Why wouldn’t he want children? How do they correlate?

“Children need stability and for someone to be there for them. I cannot offer them that. I could die later today, and then what?”

My mind went blank.

“It’s safer not to have anyone I must take responsibility for in my life.”

“That sounds like a sad life.”

“A safe life. It’s better for everyone this way.”

Harkening his words, my heart ached for him. I’m unsure why.

“Come on, Betsy. It’s time for a bath.”

Betsy jumped by his side, overjoyed that her friend was granting her the attention she deserved.

We spent the rest of the day giving all the dogs a bath, playing with them, and volunteering for anything they required.

Dominic parks in front of my building; stepping out of the car, he comes around and opens my door. Exiting the car, he walks me into the building to the elevator, pressing the button.

“It was an adventure. Thank you, Ms. Knox.”

“You called me Chloe yesterday during the game. Why are we back to Ms. Knox?”

“That was a misstep, being so informal.”

“I prefer it.” Embarrassment claimed my face.

“Then why do you not call me by my first name?”

Touché, although it’s because you explained how it makes you feel when I do. We remain silent, fully aware of the sexual tension growing between us.

The elevator dings, announcing its arrival.

DOMINIC

She looks astounding, standing there waiting for the metal chariot to arrive. I crave to feel her juicy lips. I long to taste her. Inching towards her, our eyes speak volumes. My right-hand cups the left side of her face, and she leans into it with sealed eyes, expecting the kiss I’ve been dying to grant her.

FUCK!

She craves the same as I do. Holding back my urge, I whisper in her ear.

“Until next time, Ms. Knox.” I release her beautiful face, strolling back towards the car. If I didn’t leave now, I would have taken her to her apartment, gotten her disrobed, and had my way with her.

FUCK!

She’s infiltrated my mind. I must keep the course.

You’ll beg for me, Chloe, mark my words. You’ll beg.
