Chapter 14
Axle’s POV
Perched at the breakfast table, my eyes follow the form of the goddess emerging from the hall. Hair flows with every step, canopying half her face allowing one of her alluring eyes to pierce my soul.
Her exquisite body’s concealed by a peach silk robe exposing erect nipples through the fabric, indicating her arousal, cinched at the waist, forming an hourglass shape leading to her child bearing hips and succulent thighs I crave to bury my face between.
Making her way to the table, she flips the tendrils of hair exposing her face, it’s her, my goddess, my love, my life.
“Good morning Luscious,” I express my elation with a toothy grin.
“Good morning my handsome King,” placing both hands on the table she bends at the waist to meet my lips with hers.
“I’ll never tire of hearing you say that,” I stare into her amber hues.
Planting her supple lips on mine again, we connect for moments that emulate a haze-like state of eternal bliss. “Mmm,” rumbles from my throat, relishing every second in her proximity.
“What are our plans for today?”
“I have a surprise for you,” cupping her face, her plump wet lips part as I invade her hot mouth allowing our tongues to dance.
“You have a dress waiting for you in the guest bedroom. Go put it on, we have to be there in 90 minutes.”
Excitement runs through her eyes, “Where are we going?”
Chuckling, “It wouldn’t be a surprise if I told you now would it?”
Huffing out a breath, “Fine,” rolling her eyes, I strike her round rump, triggering a squeal to escape as she races to the guest bedroom enticing my heart to beat with enthusiasm.
Fingers interlaced, we arrive at our destination. Withdrawing a silky black and red blindfold, her smile widens, “I thought we had a reservation?”
Showcasing my pearly whites, “It’s required for our reservation.”
Eyes saucer wide, they narrow with a glint of excitement. Nodding her head she twists her body granting me permission to deprive her of sight.
Raising her hand to my lips I place a gentle kiss on the back of her hand, savoring the scent of her coconut scented skin.
Exiting the car we stroll arm in arm, passing through doorways, acknowledgements with nods of the head to keep the silence, abiding the destruction of the surprise.
Finally arriving, “Are you ready for your surprise?”
Moving her head up and down with enthusiasm, “Yes!” I view her chest rise and fall in hurried short breaths. Connecting my lips on her cheek, I take my rightful place beside her, “Take off the blindfold Chloe.”
Removing the cloth, her eyes peel apart, widening, taking in the sparkling view before her, surveying the space and the endless array of engagement rings displayed for her to choose before her eyes land on me.
On one knee, I grasp her hand. “Chloe,” her other hand climbs to canopy her mouth as her eyes water in pure felicity.
“Since the day you crashed into my chest, you captivated my heart. There is no one on this planet who has ever been able to capture my interest as you have. You are every breath that I take. Without you existence is superfluous. I love you Chloe, our souls are intertwined. There is nothing in this world I crave more than to bestow upon you my last name.”
A single tear escapes her eye.
“Chloe, will you grant me a lifetime of beatitude with you by my side... as my wife?”
Tears streaming down her flushed cheeks she cups my face, bringing me to her quivering lips. We embrace as our mouths form as one, wet tongues gliding sealing our undeniable affection towards each other. Receding from our kiss, she stares in my hopeful gray eyes, moving back and forth between my beaming orbs.
Opening her mouth to respond, she whispers, “No.”
Heart shattering into a million shards, “Chloe, what...” as I encase her face, she disintegrates before me, leaving me upright in a black hole of despair, unaccompanied, shouting her name.
“Chloe? Chloe?”
Struggling, I find myself clutching a sheet, opening my eyes in an unfamiliar room. A dresser comes into view with a massive mirror, open space, an elegant sofa, where my pants are draped. Lifting the sheet, I peer under, taking note my birthday suit is on full display.
Fuck! What the fuck happened.
Observing the room, no other clothes are strewn across the room. Huffing out a relieved breath, I swallow hard, unfamiliar with last night’s events. A massive knot forms in my throat when a tan beauty emerges from beyond the bathroom door.
Her height, the hue of her spheres, the brightness of her smile, her mannerisms, she emulates Chloe in every aspect. What the fuck?
Making eye contact, “Hey handsome. I thought you would be out until the afternoon. I figured I’d save you some face by disappearing before you rose.”
Unable to speak, my only action is to stare at her in utter disbelief and regret.
“I have to say last night was definitely one for the books. I’ll be telling this story for years to come,” she expresses with a smile tugging at the edges of her nude colored lips. Grasping her purse she drops her phone inside, shutting it, strolling towards me.
“Let me know when I could be Chloe for you again,” proceeding out the door, shutting it behind her.
What the fuck was that? What the fuck happened last night? Did we? Did I... call her Chloe? What the hell did I fucking do?
Wracking my brain, I attempt to recall movements from last night to no avail. Everything is a fuzzy haze unable to make out any clear actions.
Rising to my feet, I stumble, fumbling with my boxers, almost meeting the floor when I spot my phone. Grasping my pants, with impatience to button them, I scroll through to find Eric’s number, dialing him, anxious for details of last night’s escapade.
Voicemail! “Fuck!”
Shifting gears, I phone Shelly, desperate for an explanation from Eric.
“Hello?”
“Shelly hey. Is Eric around?”
“Yeah, but he’s showering right now. What transpired last night? He returned home hammered and foggy from your escape. I even asked him what you guys did and he said he has no recollection of last night’s events.”
Fuck! I don’t either. “Weren’t you two texting last night?”
“Yeah, but it was just to check up on both of you. I hope last night helped, at least a little.”
“Can’t say it did. This headache isn’t any better than what I’ve been experiencing. I could have sworn I saw him leave the club last night.”
“He left? Maybe he went to his office for a moment but he didn’t come home until a few hours ago. Are you okay?”
Weird, I swear he left. “I’ll be okay. Just have him call me when he’s done.”
“Okay, I’ll give him the message. Feel better Axle.”
“Thanks Shell. Have a great day.”
Hanging up, I rack my brain attempting to recollect last night with nothing but fuzzy memories of lights, dancing and the feeling of warmth.
FUCK! What the hell unfolded last night? That fucking dream was so real. I could smell her scent, it’s like she was here, next to me. What the fuck?
Slipping on my shirt, the phone buzzes, an unsaved number. Who the hell is calling me now? Answering, I bellow, “Hello.”
“Mr. Cross, this is Mr. Valentino.”
It’s Dominic. FINALLY! “Did you find her?”
“We have a lead. Facial recognition tagged a picture from a street camera. The picture was fuzzy from the New Jersey end of the George Washington Bridge where she was asleep or passed out in the passenger side of the car. A man in a hoodie and shades was driving the vehicle. We followed the vehicle into Jersey City. We are scavenging the area.”
“Wait, she wasn’t awake?”
“No.”
“How long ago was the picture taken?”
“It’s timestamped, January 2nd at 3:26am.”
Fuck, that’s 18 days ago. Anything could have happened by now.
“And the car?”
“Stolen, registered to an elderly woman who was unaware her car had been stolen.”
“Fuck!” Slumping on the sofa, my hand rubs my eyes, pinching the bridge of my nose, frustrated at the time that has passed.
“I’ll reach out when we find her.”
“Yeah, just find her sooner rather than later,” I huff out in frustration. Line dying, I rise to full height, clenching my phone releasing a furious wail, “FUCK!”
I’m unsure if that information created a new hell for me to inhabit or if being kept in the dark would have been superior. My mind is a cesspool of horrific images of possible outcomes for my beloved.
That’s when I’m smacked with it... she was kidnapped. Who the fuck would take her? Why? Contemplating possibilities, I come to the conclusion that I must inform Ivy of this discovery.
Shoving my phone into my pocket, I bulldoze for the door. Storming through the doorway, I halt, glancing back towards the room, shutting my eyes in high hopes nothing transpired that will bite me in the ass in days to come. Slamming the door I make my way out of the hotel into the daylight hoping for brighter days... with Chloe.
