Chapter 9 Stay

away From My Husband

Upon seeing the message, Olivia immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

After all, the soreness in her

body had not completely

disappeared.

Especially in her private

area, she still felt pain when walking.

She took out her phone and replied with her slender

fingers, [Thank you.]

*****

After seeing the reply, Alex’s

face turned serious.

Milo drove while

respectfully asking, “Mr. Adams, are we heading back to the company? There’s a meeting this afternoon that you need to attend.”

“Yes.”

Milo put away his phone and

resumed his previous

dignified and cold

demeanor.

After replying to Alex’s message, Olivia opened her

laptop, ready to continue working on her resume.

She had prepared this resume a few days ago but felt it wasn’t good enough, so she planned to make some

revisions.

As she edited her resume,

she said to Grace, who was in

the bunk below hers, “Grace,

can you help me rent a place?”

Grace glanced at her and

replied, “Sure.”

They were already in their

final year

of university and

needed to find an internship. The school dormitory was

no longer suitable for them.

Grace said, “Olivia, I don’t

want to live at home either.

Why don’t we rent a place

together?”

Upon hearing this, Olivia looked at her and asked,

“Why don’t you want to go

home either?”

Grace pondered for a

moment before saying, “I

have an annoying brother at

home.”

After speaking, she sighed

softly.

Three days later, Olivia

finished an interview and felt

confident in her

performance.

At that moment, she

received a call from the HR

department.

“Congratulations, Miss Hall, you’ve been accepted.”

Olivia hung up the phone and immediately invited

Grace to have dinner

together to celebrate.

Just as they had ordered

their food and were about to

start eating, Olivia received

another call from the HR department.

“Miss Hall, we’re sorry to

inform you that the

headcount for interns at our

company has been filled.”

Upon hearing this, Olivia was taken aback.

She clenched the phone in her hand subconsciously.

Olivia asked, “What about the acceptance letter I just received? Was that fake?”

The HR rep was somewhat embarrassed and explained,

“Miss Hall, we’re truly sorry.

We’ve just found a more

suitable candidate.”

Olivia sighed lightly, feeling

somewhat angry.

“How can you change your

decision like this? Have you

learned about laws regarding

labor rioghts? I can sue you for this.”

Feeling that they had made a big mistake, the HR rep hurriedly explained, “Miss

Rosa Hall is affiliated with

the Adams Corporation. She

was the one that told us not

to hire you. We had no

choice.”

Upon hearing this, Olivia

suddenly understood and

promptly hung up the phone.

Grace slammed her hand on

the table in anger. “Rosa did

it on purpose.”

Olivia gently patted her hand. “Forget it, I’ll check out other companies.”

Olivia felt like the food in

her mouth didn’t taste as

good anymore.

As they were eating, a guy

wearing a white shirt

approached them.

Grace waved at him, “Hey,

we are here.”

Olivia whispered, “Grace,

who is this guy?”

“He’s Henry Martin.”

After saying that, Grace

added, “Didn’t you want to

rent a place? He has some rental listings and has helped

many students find

accommodation.”

Olivia nodded. “I see.”

Henry came over and sat

next to Grace, taking the

initiative to introduce

himself, “Olivia, don’t you

remember me? I often play

basketball with Oliver.”

Upon hearing this, Olivia was surprised and realized why he looked familiar.

Henry continued, “How are you and Oliver doing? I had high hopes for you guys back then.”

Olivia didn’t know what to

say.

She felt very embarrassed.

After some thought, she replied, “Henry, let’s not talk

about him. We’ve broken

up.”

Upon hearing this, Henry

looked embarrassed.

*****

Grace said, “Henry, Olivia wants to rent a place, could you please help with it?”

Henry replied, “No problem. Olivia, how big of a place are

you looking for?”

Olivia pondered for a

moment and said, “It’s just

the two of us, me and Grace,

so it doesn’t need to be too

big. It would be best if it’s

furnished.”

“Alright.”

After that, Henry glanced meaningfully at Olivia.

After finishing their meal, they set off to visit an apartment in the southern

part of the city, which was quite remote, almost to the

suburbs.

Henry recommended a

third–floor unit, which was

nicely decorated and fully

furnished for immediate

move–in.

“It’s a bit remote, so the

transportation might not be very convenient. Can you accept that? It’s 600 dollars a month, but since we’re

alumni, I’ll charge you 400

dollars, you two can split it.‘

Olivia looked at Grace and

asked, “Grace, what do you

think?”

Grace pondered for a

moment. “I think it’s fine.”

Olivia said, “Then let’s go

with this place.”

Grace nodded. “Okay.”

The two expressed their

gratitude to Henry.

“No need, it’s just a small

favor.”

Henry handed them a key

and said, “You don’t need to

pay rent yet, just pay at the

end of the month.”

Olivia said, “Okay.”

After Henry left, Olivia and Grace entered the cozy little

apartment. The rooms were

decorated with pink

wallpaper and appeared very

feminine.

“Olivia, do you like it here?”

Grace asked.

Olivia said, “It seems fine to

  1. me. Let’s tidy up a bit.”

The two quickly tidied up the apartment. They felt tired afterward and lay down

on a bed to rest.

Olivia thought, ‘I finally have a place for myself besides the Hall family and the dorm.‘

While it was still early, the two went out to a bus stop

and then took the bus back

to school.

*****

The next day, news spread about Rosa’s engagement.

She even generously handed

out candies to all her

classmates, proudly

proclaiming that she was

about to marry into a

wealthy family.

At this time, a student who

was close to Rosa

approached her and said,

“Rosa, your dress must be

expensive, it looks so beautiful.”

“It’s alright. It only cost a few

thousand dollars.” Rosa

looked at everyone with a

smile.

Another student exclaimed,

“Rosa, you’re really lucky. Is

that bag the latest from

Hermes?”

*****

Olivia sat at her desk and

had headphones on. She

didn’t pay any attention to

what others were saying.

Suddenly, with a bang, Rosa

slammed her desk.

Olivia looked at her puzzled,

“Are you crazy?”

Rosa said angrily, “Olivia,

you’d better stay away from

my husband in the future. If I catch you getting close to him again, 1 I’ll break your legs.”

Upon hearing this, Olivia

stood up suddenly and said,

“Do you want to fight?”

Her eyes showed a hint of

fierceness.

Rosa was startled by her

reaction, she had never seen

Olivia look like this before.

But she quickly regained her composure and muttered,

“You poor thing, with your

look, you’ll never be able to

get involved with the Adams family in this lifetime.”

Olivia was speechless.

She thought, ‘This is

ridiculous. Does she think

everyone wants to be

affiliated with the Adams

family like she does?‘
