Chapter 45: The Search

Henry clutched the arm of the sofa with such force that it caved in significantly.

Assistant Cooper handed his umbrella to a nearby waiter and quickly assisted Henry to stand.

Still woozy from the drugs, Henry's tall frame wobbled before Assistant Cooper steadied him back to the bedroom.

The team of doctors who had followed was hastily summoned and now crowded outside Henry's suite, congesting the hallway.

The news that someone had drugged Henry at the banquet spread like wildfire across the entire cruise ship.

Meanwhile, Megan Shaw was bracing herself against the ship's railing, descending on a rope ladder to a waiting small search and rescue boat below.

The rain fell heavily, forcing her to slow her descent, but she managed to escape before Henry's people could reach her.

The doctors had only emergency medications, which proved inadequate to revive Henry from his stupor.

Back in the warmth of his room, Henry felt his eyelids battling each other, likely a resurgence of the drug's effects.

He had been unaware that Giselle had been orchestrating such schemes right under his watch.

With the doctors unable to help, Cooper dismissed them.

Turning back to the room, Cooper was stunned by the sight before him-Henry was slicing into the flesh of his own hand with a dagger!

Terrified, Cooper dashed forward, trembling as he tried to snatch the dagger away.

Henry suddenly looked up, his eyes blazing with fierce light, filled with immense anger and hatred. His gaze was sinister and horrifying, chilling to the bone.

Like a wolf on a killing spree, his eyes shone with a bloodthirsty gleam.

The dagger pierced flesh, making a muffled, grating sound that raised goosebumps on anyone who heard it.

Despite years of harsh experiences alongside Henry, Cooper's lips trembled. "Sir, the drug's effects haven't worn off. Please, rest a while..."

"No." Henry gritted his teeth, containing some fierce emotion, his voice raspy with anger.

Blood flowed freely from his palm, but Henry had no intention of stopping. He used the dagger to lift a piece of flesh before reversing the blade to rub it with the dull side. The intense pain hit, causing sweat to bead on his forehead, which he used to maintain his focus.

"Go, find her," Henry managed to say. "Based on our course, she headed southeast three hours ago. Her destination should be Lido Island."

Cooper glanced worriedly at his hand and hesitated.

"Go!" Henry barked.

Startled, Cooper quickly jogged out of the suite, pulled out a communicator to rally his men, and requested assistance from a maritime search and rescue team.

Inside the suite, Henry, his hand still bleeding, made another cut on his forearm with the dagger.

Biting on the dagger's handle, he staggered to his desk, opened his laptop, and began calculating the possible escape routes for Giselle.

Half an hour later, Henry compiled a detailed search directive, which he printed and handed to Cooper.

The paper was stained with fresh blood, looking like a scarlet rose.

The three-day banquet had to return tonight due to Henry's situation.

Fortunately, Henry was wealthy enough to provide generous compensation, so the mood remained upbeat, with volunteers eagerly assisting in the search.

In the vast ocean, the search team spent an entire day and night, even employing the latest radar submarines, yet they failed to pinpoint any direction.

Henry stayed awake all night, immediately sending someone to the hospital to secure his grandmother, but by the time his people arrived, she had already been secretly moved.

Megan had also been sent to perform out of town, leaving no trace of her whereabouts.

He felt as if a net of despair had enveloped him; within just one night, all leads on Giselle had vanished.

Cooper entered for the sixth time, overwhelmed by the dense scent of blood and the oppressive air in the suite.

"Sir, the search along the route toward Lido Island is complete. We found no sign of Miss Lambert, and checkpoints have been added on the island. No suspicious individuals arrived on the island last night."
