Chapter 41: Fate Intervenes
In a bid to ensure a seamless getaway, Giselle set down her glass and strategically perched herself on Henry's lap, looping her arms around his neck.
Henry momentarily tensed, his fork frozen in midair, as he narrowed his eyes menacingly at Giselle, anticipating her next move.
She leaned in close and planted a soft kiss on the corner of his mouth.
Despite initiating the kiss, Giselle quickly became bashful, lowering her head and concealing herself like a timid quail.
Henry was particularly vulnerable to such displays, and he managed to suppress a smile while lifting Giselle's chin to look her in the eyes. "What are you hiding from?"
What followed was a passionate, domineering kiss that claimed every inch of her mouth.
It wasn't until both were gasping for breath that Henry finally, and reluctantly, released her.
Giselle was still catching her breath when Henry gently stroked her spine and inquired casually, "What do you want?"
It was clear Henry understood Giselle all too well.
"This took place in the dressing room. No matter how many guards there are, they can't follow us inside, so there's no need for more," Giselle rushed through her explanation, too nervous to look up at Henry's piercing gaze.
His hawk-like gaze was piercingly sharp. Giselle feared that meeting his eyes would betray her inner machinations.
Henry remained silent for a long time, causing Giselle's heart to beat wildly, as if it were drumming against her chest.
Silence ensued.
And the silence lingered-
Worried he might see through her facade; Giselle hastily concocted an excuse: "I hate feeling watched; it's a constant reminder of my lack of freedom."
She pouted, adding a touch of complaint: "It's suffocating enough in the mansion, but even going to school feels like a prison."
Henry nodded in agreement, "Then we'll skip the additional security. I promise I won't miss picking you up from school again."
After breakfast, Henry drove Giselle to school, making sure she safely entered the building before departing.
Once his gaze was no longer on her, Giselle exhaled in relief.

She quickly pulled Megan Shaw into the dressing room and shared her ordeal of being abducted the previous day.
Megan gasped in shock, covering her mouth, "Oh my God, darling, they dared to kidnap a man of his stature? They truly have a death wish!"
Giselle didn't linger on that thought, urgently clutching Megan's arm, "Bestie, yesterday I truly saw how cruel and merciless Henry can be. Please help me escape soon. I can't stand another day with him."
Megan nodded seriously, "Don't worry, I've bought a property on a remote island and set up a fake identity for you. Now we just wait for the right moment to flee."
That moment arrived sooner than expected.
Two weeks later, Henry received an invitation to a wine tasting event, which included two tickets, suggesting he bring a companion.
The dinner was scheduled on a cruise ship, intending to dock at Bayne Island for a day before returning. The event would last three days in total.
Henry hadn't planned to bring Giselle initially, but given Bayne Island's strategic location and the support from local policies, which boasted the world's largest shopping centers, he thought it might pique her interest in shopping. Hearing this, Giselle immediately agreed.
Being on a ship, even with Henry's presence, would make escaping easier than on land.
Moreover, the party would peak in the evening, creating the perfect cover in the bustling crowd for her to make her escape.
Megan had secured property for her on Gadoloria Island, just south of Bayne Island, approximately one hundred twenty nautical miles away.
Such a coincidence made Giselle wonder if perhaps fate itself was conspiring to aid her escape.
Three days later, the event kicked off on schedule aboard the cruise ship, with Megan successfully obtaining an invitation and blending in among the guests.
Henry had chosen a sapphire blue silk dress for Giselle that accentuated her fair skin and complemented her graceful, dancer-like poise, rendering her both regal and radiant.
Henry himself was dressed in a suit of a similar hue, his white tie neatly secured with a silver tie clip, exuding a meticulous and dapper appearance.
As the evening set in, they embarked on the ship, sailing towards Bayne Island as the festivities began.
