Chapter 22: His Savage Ways
It wasn't until Giselle couldn't take it anymore, tears of exhaustion spilling from the corners of her eyes as she repeatedly answered him, "No..." until he was finally satisfied. Henry was unrestrained, as if trying to make up for the half-month of nights they had missed.
It was past four in the morning when silence finally settled over the villa.
Giselle's throat was dry and hoarse, and she felt like a dying fish as she clung to Henry for support while they went to wash up.
Fortunately, the next day was a weekend, and Giselle could rest.
At seven in the morning, Henry, true to his routine, got up without fail.
Although he moved quietly, Giselle, a light sleeper, was still woken by him.
Blearily, she watched his half-naked body, his muscles tight from regular workouts but not overly exaggerated, fitting perfectly to his skin.
His arms bore occasional scars, less visible on his darker skin.
Despite her dislike for Henry, in that moment, she couldn't help but admit that he was indeed blessed with striking looks.
Henry turned to meet her gaze. Caught spying, Giselle quickly closed her eyes, feigning sleep.
He leaned in to kiss her forehead, murmuring, "you are so adorable?"
Her eyelashes fluttered, her feigned sleep exposed, causing her to blush, though her eyes remained tightly shut.
"Hungry?" Henry asked. "Want to get up for breakfast and then go back to sleep?"
Determined to keep up her act, Giselle ignored him.
Unperturbed, Henry slowly donned his shirt, buttoning it up as he said, "I have a meeting today. You rest at home, and call me when you wake up."
After dressing, he stroked her hair and kissed her once more before reluctantly leaving the bedroom.
Once the door closed, Giselle finally opened her eyes, staring blankly at the ceiling.
After a night's ordeal, she barely had the energy to move a finger, yet this detestable man was off to a meeting, bursting with energy?
Sometimes she wondered if Henry was secretly taking some sort of stamina-enhancing drug.
After briefly waking in the morning, Giselle fell back into a deep sleep until late afternoon.
Feeling exhausted, she washed up and went downstairs to see Sophie arranging the meal.
Upon seeing Giselle come down, Sophie rushed to assist her, inadvertently noticing the kiss marks on her wrist.

Megan quickly averted her eyes, surprised at Henry's wildness in their intimate moments, not even sparing her wrists.
"Miss Lambert, the meal is ready. Henry mentioned he won't be home for dinner tonight," Megan said.
Giselle nodded, opening her mouth to speak but found her voice was too hoarse to make a sound.
She cursed Henry silently in her mind.
Sophie handed her a cup of honey water thoughtfully, "This has red dates Henry brought back from abroad to help you with nourishment for pregnancy."
The well-intended honey water suddenly lost its appeal to Giselle at Sophie's explanation.
She picked it up and then set it down, untouched.
Giselle unlocked her phone and handed it to Megan, "Call him."
Following the instructions, Megan relayed Giselle's condition to Henry. After a brief conversation, he hung up.
Giselle took back her phone, silently eating her dinner.
Halfway through, the estate's gatekeeper video-called, which Megan answered and handed to Giselle.
"Miss Lambert, this gentleman at the gate claims to be your father. Shall I let him in?"
The camera panned to show Clark Leighton's ingratiating smile. Seeing him made Giselle almost spit out her food.
"No," she stated decisively.
"Alright, Miss Lambert, then-"
The gatekeeper was interrupted as someone snatched the communicator.
Clark's face reappeared on the screen, "Giselle, I need to talk to you about your mother."
"My mother has been gone for years, and I have nothing to talk about with you," Giselle replied, her voice indifferent and slightly impatient.
"You'll regret missing this chance," he insisted.
After a long silence, Giselle said, "Give the communicator back to the gatekeeper."
The gatekeeper retrieved the device, "Miss Lambert, any instructions?"
